Hey, guess what guys!!!! It is January of 1931 Elizabeth Hartsell has begun the first entry in a diary that will last her for 10 and 1/2 years. She's living in Arkansas, her father is out of work and the Great Depression has just begun. So far, not only does she have no fears she is joining clubs to help people in this unfortunate time. It's 1932, Elisabeth's father has had no luck finding a job and her maternal grandparent's generosity has run out. So, the family is packed up and headed to the Hartsell farmstead in Step Rock, Arkansas, home of her paternal grandfather, Moris Hartsell. Elisabeth is going to have to work very hard and she's going to have to live in a tent until her family can find jobs and a home for her to live in. July 8th, 1932 will mark the day that the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell to its lowest point in the Great Depression. Elisabeth and her family are feeling the effects of it.
