Ahoy there.  Have you been thinking about setting sail with Virgin Voyages?  If you’ve been on another cruise or maybe never been on a cruise before, you might be wondering what it’s really like onboard.  Well, here are some of my favourite things about sailing with Virgin Voyages.   Plus, stay tuned to the end for some secret off menu things that only sailors in the know know about.  Ready to set sail? When I got on board the Valiant Lady, I could feel the energy right away. It was like a big party with everyone having a great time! There were so many things to do, like chatting at the bars, playing fun games, or even playing old-school video games. It was non-stop fun! You know what was really cool? The ship was buzzing with this exciting energy that made you want to join in. And if you were into making new friends, this was the perfect place. There were so many chances to hang out and have a blast with other guests. What made Valiant Lady stand out were all the fun twists they added to the usual stuff. Sure, you might have played games on other cruises, but here, they made it extra exciting with surprises!   Thinking back on my trip, one thing that really stood out was how everyone was welcome and accepted on Valiant Lady. And our fellow sailors were a great range of the young and the young at heart.  I was speaking to a lady who was 84 years young and she was having the time of her life! Right from the start, you could see how diverse the performers were. Each night's show was a celebration of different cultures and talents. From different parts of the world to all different sexualities, everyone just fitted in nicely.  It was so cool to see everyone being represented! And you know what else? There are even bathrooms for everyone, no matter who you are. It was nice to see the ship making sure everyone felt respected and comfortable. Let me tell you, the crew on Valiant Lady were like sunshine on a cloudy day. Their happiness and excitement were so contagious! Whether you were watching a show, having dinner, or just walking around, their positive vibes made everything more fun. And you could see how well they all worked together. It was like they were one big team, making sure everything ran smoothly. Their teamwork was really impressive! Talking to the crew felt like chatting with old pals. They were so interested in making sure I had a great time on board. Even if there were a few little bumps in the road, their upbeat attitude made everything better. From the cheerful "good mornings" to the helpful service in the restaurants, the crew really went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a memorable trip. Their dedication to making guests happy was really something special.   I was so excited to find out about all the cool entertainment options on Virgin Voyages' Valiant Lady. They really know how to shake things up when it comes to onboard fun! I could feel the energy buzzing all around. And let me tell you, the entertainment was unlike anything I'd ever seen! They had these daring shows that were a bit risque but so much fun to watch. And guess what? You could even join in on the action! But that's not all. They also had these super quirky workout classes that made exercising feel like a party. Picture this: '80s-themed aerobics with crew members leading the way. It was a blast! The best part? Scarlet night is the biggest party at sea.  Everyone got involved and some of us even ended up in the pool.  Fully clothed! First off, the cabins were like something from the future! They had these lights that could change colours, and you could even use tablets to order room service or watch movies. It was like having your own little tech paradise! And the design? It was so sleek and modern. The furniture was all cool and contemporary, and they even had these fun pops of colour that made everything feel so lively. Even though the cabins weren't huge, they made up for it with all the neat stuff inside. They had everything you needed, like shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. Plus, the showers had doors, which made them feel extra fancy! Now, let's talk about the beds. They were called Seabeds, and get this—they could turn into sofas! So, during the day, you could lounge around and chill out. And if you had a balcony cabin, you could even kick back in a hammock!   One of the coolest things about Valiant Lady was its dining options. They weren't just your ordinary restaurants—they were like stepping into a whole new world! From funky experiences to secret bars, every meal was a fun surprise that made my taste buds dance with joy. And let me tell you about the exclusive events! They were so special, like mixology classes and fancy nights out. It made me feel like a VIP, getting to be part of these unforgettable moments. I had to check out this one restaurant called Razzle Dazzle, and boy, was it a treat! They had this secret menu that wasn't so secret anymore, but it was still full of surprises. Every dish was inspired by the places we were sailing to, making it a real culinary adventure! And get this—the ship even had little nods to its history! From markers showing how it was built to the way the cabins were numbered, you could really feel the craftsmanship and love that went into making Valiant Lady. I also loved how the ship was eco-friendly. They gave us these cool bracelets made from recycled ocean plastic called "The Band." They weren't the fanciest things to look at, but they were super handy for opening doors and buying stuff onboard. Plus, it felt good knowing we were helping the planet! Now, I haven’t really covered the brilliant restaurants in this podcast.  And Virgin really does have some amazing places to eat.  Check out our other podcast all about dining onboard Virgin Voyages from wherever you get your podcasts.  You won’t want to miss it.   Start planning your next holiday with one of our cruise gurus.  Just visit - rock the boat dot travel.  That’s Rock. the. Introduction Ahoy parents! Are you looking to book a Disney cruise for your kids ages 3 to 17 but aren’t sure what youth activities are available for different age groups? In this video, I'll take you on an all-access tour of the award-winning Oceaneer Club, Edge Club, and Vibe Club – Disney Cruise Line’s kids’ clubs packed with nonstop magical fun from sunup to sundown! As Disney cruise specialists, we know how important it is to give kids an unforgettable experience at sea while also giving parents peace of mind and opportunities for a night away from the kids too. That’s why Disney’s youth clubs are specially designed not only for different interests but also developmental stages, filled with games, entertainment, arts, science, character interactions and more. We’ll guide you through details on each club tailored for specific age ranges. From high-tech gaming lounges for teens to a submarine straight out of Finding Nemo for preschoolers, you can start planning the most thrilling family cruise ever! Chapter 1: Oceaneer Club (Ages 3-12) The vibrant Oceaneer Club is a playground for kids ages 3 to 12, filled with spaces and activities themed around beloved Disney and Pixar characters. Step inside Club rooms modeled just for kids, where playtime springs to life through costumes, crafts, hands-on science and character meet-and-greets that unlock their imaginations. Immersive Theming Transports Kids Oceaneer Club spaces feature larger-than-life areas that place kids right into magical lands and storybook settings. Enter Andy's room from Toy Story to enjoy one of the coolest kids play areas I've ever seen. Or they can venture into an Enchanted Garden with a pixie dust swamp straight from Neverland. Disney magic also comes to life via costumes and props. Counselors lead themed dance parties and storytelling sessions that let kids’ imaginations soar! Arts, Crafts and Games Galore Disney understands kids have shorter attention spans and seeks to ignite their creativity through hands-on activities across interests. For 3 to 5 year olds, there are arts and crafts tables to design Lightning McQueen race cars or princess crowns out of glue, glitter and gems. Older kids ages 6-9 have a special stage full of costumes, lights and sounds to put on performances of their favorite Disney shows! Tweens ages 10-12 have access to super cool science labs with hands-on experiments they can build themselves using paddles, ramps and more under guidance from counselors. There are also detective missions to solve puzzles across different themed spaces. With so many games, kids won’t know what adventure to try next! Open House Mode and Secured Entries Counselors provide extra security by giving kids personalized Navigator Bands which must be shown at secured doors. This ensures kids always enjoy independence tailored for their age while parents have peace of mind! Chapter 2: Edge Club (Ages 11-14) Bigger kids mean bigger activities! Tweens ages 11-14 will find their new favorite hangout at the high-tech Edge Club, with programming tailored just for their interests – from counselor-led gaming tournaments to chill lounge spaces for making friends. Exclusive events shared with the teen-focused Vibe Club next door builds connections. On the Disney Dream, Edge is located up in one of the funnels giving the kids amazing views. Laidback Lounge Areas Lounge spaces at the Edge Club feature cozy seating surrounded by digital screens, windows looking out to the ocean, and all their favorite entertainment options in one centralized spot. Preteens can chill while listening to trending tunes, catching the latest Disney shows and movies on screens, or playing video games on gaming stations. Exclusive Gaming Tournaments and Events Disney always brings friendly competition, so the Edge Club delivers gaming fun with multi-player tournaments using consoles like Playstation and Nintendo Switch. They can battle other cruisers in games like Just Dance or Mario Kart! Kids also participate in D-Lounge events offered only to the 11-14 club. And for late night activities like glow parties, karaoke nights, game show events and more, Edge Club members get access to the neighboring Vibe Club just for teens. Preteens can meet older kids while teens get to mentor their younger cruise pals! Chapter 3: Vibe Club (Ages 14-17) The sleek Vibe Club caters to teens ages 14-17 looking for the ultimate hangout spot at sea. Centered around social spaces with cozy seating, large screens, and an outdoor patio under the stars, Vibe allows older kids independence to forge friendships while parents enjoy nighttime entertainment across the ship. Trendy Lounge Areas Vibe spaces capture what teens want most on holiday – chilling with new friends in Instagram-worthy settings while surrounded by great music and entertainment. Lounge zones have comfy modular seating perfect to gather while listening to trending songs and catch the latest flicks. Gaming stations mean teens can challenge their cruise pals to Just Dance battles or the newest beach volleyball video game on extra large screens. Out on the patio deck, teens can soak up the sun and relax. Exclusive Events Plus Shared Access Vibe Club offers exclusive high-energy teen events like formal dances under the stars, game show nights with prizes, DJ parties on the patio, and more. But an awesome perk for both teens and tweens next door is that Vibe also grants shared access to the 11-14 Edge Club. Teens can visit during Open House times to play sports or Shoot for the Stars karaoke together on the Edge Club’s stage. Building mentorships across ages makes Disney clubs extra special! Conclusion Disney Cruise Line’s kids’ clubs allow youth activities guided by expert counselors to create unforgettable bonds across ages. From hands-on play for preschoolers to high-tech lounges for teens, private spaces designed exclusively for kids foster freedom to explore worlds tailored just for them – all while giving parents hours of worry-free fun! Secured entries provide family peace of mind across the entire Disney cruise fleet. And with clubs open from as early as 7:30AM to as late as 1AM, parents can enjoy extended daytime enrichment sessions plus nighttime date activities. Just don’t be surprised if by cruise end, your kids have formed life-long friendships...not to mention already booked their next Disney adventure on the high seas before even departing! Closing Remarks When only the best holiday will do for your family, turn to the magic of Disney Cruise Line. With kids’ clubs designed to ignite imaginations, forge bonds and unlock big fun tailored for every type of child, parents can relax knowing Disney has thought of everything your family needs. Whether you're traveling with family, on a budget, or looking for luxury, there's a ship that's perfect for you.  Norwegian Cruise Line is known for having a great variety of ships to suit everyone.  In this podcast, we'll explore the best of Norwegian Cruise Line's 19 ships for families, solo guests, budget travellers, luxury voyagers and smaller ship lovers. Check out our guide to the best NCL ships at:  https://www.rocktheboat.travel/cruise-help/best-norwegian-cruise-line-ships-for-every-traveller-ranked FREE NCL Cruise Holiday Help: https://www.rocktheboat.travel/norwegian-cruise-lines-holidays
Thinking about setting sail on your own with Norwegian Cruise Line?  It can seem a bit scary boarding a ship with thousands of people when you're on your own.  But, don't worry.  NCL is one of the best cruise lines for solo sailors.   When it comes to planning a holiday, many people envision trips with friends or family. However, solo travel has become increasingly popular in recent years, allowing individuals to explore the world on their own terms. One option that has gained significant attention is solo cruises.   Embarking on a solo cruise adventure can be a unique and exciting way to travel. It offers a range of benefits and experiences that may make it worth considering for your next holiday. In this article, we will explore the key reasons why solo cruises are worth it, including independence and freedom, social opportunities, and how to avoid a single supplement.   One of the most appealing aspects of a solo cruise is the sense of independence and freedom it provides. While traditional holidays often involve compromise and coordination with travel companions, a solo cruise allows you to set your own itinerary and indulge in activities that interest you.   On a solo cruise, you have the freedom to wake up whenever you want, dine whenever and wherever you please, and explore the ship or port destinations at your own pace. Without the need to accommodate the preferences and expectations of others, you can truly embrace a holiday that revolves entirely around your desires.   Additionally, solo cruises provide an excellent opportunity for self-discovery. Being alone allows you to have meaningful experiences and reflect on your own thoughts and desires. It's a chance to reconnect with yourself and engage in personal growth. Whether it's sitting on the deck, enjoying the sea breeze, or participating in onboard activities, a solo cruise gives you the time and space to focus on you.   Contrary to popular belief, solo cruises are not isolating experiences. In fact, they offer numerous opportunities to meet new people and make lifelong connections. Cruise ships are known for their vibrant communities and provide various ways to socialise and engage with fellow travellers.   Many cruise lines organise social events and activities specifically designed for solo travellers. These may include meet and greets, cocktail parties, and group excursions. These events allow you to connect with fellow passengers who are also travelling solo, creating a sense of camaraderie and companionship.   Furthermore, participating in group activities and excursions can be a fantastic way to break the ice and meet like-minded individuals. Whether it's joining a shore excursion, attending a cooking class, or taking part in a dance workshop, these shared experiences can lead to meaningful friendships and memorable moments.   Even if you prefer solitude most of the time, solo cruises still offer plenty of opportunities for interaction when you desire it. You can strike up conversations at the onboard restaurants, lounges, or even while enjoying a relaxing day by the pool. Royal Caribbean is known for being one of the best cruise lines for kids, with each ship in their fleet offering kid-friendly attractions. However, some ships are better suited for different age groups. In this podcast, I’ll highlight the top Royal Caribbean ships for kids of all ages.   If you are planning a family cruise holiday and have babies or toddlers in tow, finding the right ship that caters to their needs and ensures their safety is crucial. One ship that stands out in this aspect is Freedom of the Seas. With its range of amenities and activities designed specifically for young children, this Royal Caribbean ship provides an unforgettable experience for the whole family. Freedom of the Seas offers a dedicated nursery called the Royal Babies & Tots Nursery, where parents can drop off their little ones (aged 6-36 months) in the care of trained professionals. This supervised play area provides a safe and stimulating environment for babies and toddlers to interact with age-appropriate toys and engage in various activities. In addition to the nursery, Freedom of the Seas also features a Baby Splash Zone, specially designed for youngsters to enjoy water play. The Baby Splash Zone is equipped with gentle water sprays, colourful water features, and fun interactive sculptures. It is the perfect spot for your little ones to cool off and have a splash-tastic time.   And what's a family holiday without a little indulgence in delicious treats? Kids can satisfy their sweet tooth with a visit to Ben & Jerry's ice cream parlour onboard Freedom of the Seas. With a wide array of flavours and toppings to choose from, it's the perfect opportunity for kids to indulge in some creamy, cool goodness.   Freedom of the Seas sails short three- and four-night cruises to the Bahamas, with stops in Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay. These destinations offer a range of family-friendly activities and attractions that are sure to delight both children and parents alike.   One advantage of choosing Freedom of the Seas for a family holiday with babies and toddlers is the ship's manageable size. While it still offers a range of amenities and entertainment options, it doesn't overwhelm with its sheer magnitude. This makes it easier for families to navigate the ship and allows for a more intimate and personalized experience. Furthermore, traveling with young children often means adhering to their routines and early bedtimes. On a smaller ship like Freedom of the Seas, parents can feel less pressure to participate in late-night activities or worry about missing out on anything while their little ones sleep soundly in the cabin. It provides a more relaxed and stress-free environment for families to enjoy their holiday.   Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas is a perfect choice for families with children aged 3-7, offering a wide range of amenities and activities tailored specifically for young kids. Let's take a closer look at why Icon of the Seas is the best Royal Caribbean ship for little kids.   One of the standout features of Icon of the Seas is the Surfside neighbourhood, which is designed to cater to young families. Here, you'll find a kid's splash area complete with junior waterslides and interactive water features, providing endless fun for your little adventurers. While the kids splash around, parents can relax in the adjacent infinity pool, enjoying some quality time while keeping an eye on their little ones.   The ship also boasts a beach-themed carousel that will delight both children and adults alike. Taking a ride on the carousel is a great way to create lasting memories with your kids during your cruise. Additionally, the dry playground and arcade on board offer plenty of entertainment options for children of all ages.   One of the best aspects of Icon of the Seas for families with young kids is the convenient location of the Adventure Ocean kids club. Surfside, the neighbourhood dedicated to families, is conveniently situated near the kids club. This means that your little ones can easily make their way to the club and participate in the exciting and age-appropriate activities and programs available. The Adventure Ocean kids club offers supervised play, arts and crafts, interactive games, and even science experiments, ensuring that your children are entertained while you have some adult time. The friendly and trained staff members create a safe and engaging environment, giving parents peace of mind knowing that their kids are enjoying themselves in a fun and supervised setting. Icon of the Seas, being a larger and reimagined version of Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class ships, offers an array of entertainment options and attractions that will keep both kids and adults entertained throughout the cruise. From ice skating shows to acrobatic diving performances, there's no shortage of excitement on board. The top-deck attractions, including thrilling water slides and pools, are sure to be a hit with the younger audience. Whether it's splashing around in the pool or soaring down the water slides, your little ones will be smiling from ear to ear as they experience the exhilarating water-based activities. Icon of the Seas sets sail on weeklong itineraries to the Caribbean from Miami, making it an ideal choice for families looking for a tropical holiday. The ship stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean's private island destination filled with amazing attractions and activities.   When it comes to finding the best cruise ship for older kids between the ages of 8 and 12, one name that stands out is Wonder of the Seas. This magnificent Royal Caribbean ship offers a wide range of activities and amenities that are specifically designed to cater to the interests of this age group. Whether it's thrilling adventure, entertainment, or delicious dining options, Wonder of the Seas has it all. For older kids who crave excitement and adventure, Wonder of the Seas provides an array of thrilling activities. From rock climbing walls to exhilarating waterslides, there is no shortage of adrenaline-pumping fun. Additionally, the ship features dry slides that offer a unique sliding experience. And if that's not enough, kids can hit the ice and try their hand at skating in Studio B, where spectacular ice skating shows are held. Wonder of the Seas sails on seven-night Caribbean cruises, making it an ideal holiday length for families with older kids. This duration provides ample time for children to fully immerse themselves in the ship's offerings and explore the exciting destinations the cruise visits. The seven-night itinerary strikes a balance between relaxation and adventure, ensuring a memorable and fulfilling holiday for families.   For tweens and teens, the Odyssey of the Seas stands out as one of the best options available. This modern cruise ship offers a wide range of unique attractions and activities that are specifically catered to this age group, ensuring that they have the time of their lives onboard.   One of the highlights of the Odyssey of the Seas is the RipCord by iFly skydiving simulator. This innovative attraction allows tweens and teens to experience the thrill of skydiving in a safe and controlled environment. The sensation of floating in the wind tunnel will surely leave them with unforgettable memories. Another exciting feature is the Sky Pad VR bungee trampoline. This one-of-a-kind activity combines virtual reality with a trampoline, creating a unique and exhilarating experience. Kids can bounce and soar through virtual worlds, immersing themselves in a whole new dimension of fun. The ship's SeaPlex is a multi-purpose indoor activity space that offers an array of options for tweens and teens. Here, they can enjoy a game of basketball, test their skills at table tennis, or have a thrilling ride in the bumper cars. The arcade is also a favourite spot where kids can try their luck at various games and win prizes. Teenagers often seek places where they can socialize and make new friends. On the Odyssey of the Seas, Social 180 is the perfect spot for teens to hang out. This dedicated space features an indoor lounge with comfortable seating, where they can relax and chat with their peers. In addition to the indoor area, Social 180 also has an outdoor patio, providing a refreshing outdoor environment where teens can soak up the sun or enjoy some fresh air while socializing. This inclusive and welcoming atmosphere ensures that teens have a space of their own to enjoy throughout the cruise. The Odyssey of the Seas offers a variety of itineraries, including weeklong Caribbean cruises and European voyages. This means that families have more options when it comes to planning their adventures with teens. When it comes to planning a family holiday to Alaska, choosing the right cruise ship is crucial. Stan was determined to find the cheapest cruise deal out there, so he booked a trip solely based on price. Little did he know that his decision would lead to cramped quarters and limited activities onboard. You see, when it comes to booking a cruise, price is just one piece of the puzzle. It's essential to weigh it against other important factors like itinerary, room type, ship age, and onboard entertainment options. After all, what good is saving money if you're stuck in a tiny cabin with no view or terrible food? Instead of being lured by rock-bottom prices alone, consider looking into shoulder seasons for better deals without sacrificing quality experiences. These off-peak times can offer significant savings while still providing fantastic amenities and memorable adventures. If navigating through these considerations seems overwhelming, Rock The Boat has got your back. Our team of Cruise Gurus take into account all relevant factors when assisting guests in finding exceptional value for their money. They'll help you uncover hidden gems within various cruise lines and guide you towards the perfect balance between affordability and an unforgettable experience. As you frantically scramble to secure a spot onboard, your heart sinks as you realise that prices have skyrocketed and there's little to no availability left. Talk about a nail-biting experience! Think about your Christmas day lunch.  You could go and buy your turkey in advance.  Or rush to the supermarket 5 minutes before closing on Christmas Eve and hope they have something left.  You could grab yourself a bargain turkey.  Or, more than likely, you’ll be having frozen lasagna for Christmas.  Cruise ships are exactly the same. Here's the key takeaway: booking early is essential if you want to avoid these panic-inducing scenarios. By reserving your cabin well in advance, you not only have a wider range of stateroom options available but also gain access to better fares, bonuses, perks, and even more choices for cabin selection. Tempted by the promise of saving a few bucks, you hastily click that "Book Now" button without a second thought. But hold on just a minute! Booking through dodgy websites is like playing Russian roulette with your dream holiday. Countless horror stories abound about those who have fallen into this trap, only to find themselves facing missed opportunities and lackluster experiences. Sure, those flashy websites may offer enticing prices, but what they don't mention is the absence of personalised help. When booking directly with these questionable sites or even with the cruise line itself, you'll be left to navigate through murky waters all on your own. That's where knowledgeable travel agents like Rock The Boat come to the rescue! Your Cruise Guru knows every nook and cranny of the cruise industry and has access to exclusive discounts, offers, and extra promotions that won't cost you an arm and a leg. Flying in on Embarkation day Imagine the horror of flight delays or cancellations on the very day you're supposed to embark on your cruise. Your carefully crafted itinerary crumbles before your eyes, leaving you stressed and scrambling to catch up with the ship. Trust me, it's not a pretty sight. To avoid this potential disaster, we recommend arriving at least one day before your cruise sets sail. Give yourself peace of mind and start your journey relaxed and refreshed. We can even assist in arranging pre-cruise accommodations tailored to your preferences.
