With more than 80 hours of gameplay, she only appears for five minutes and 22 seconds, and yet there’s something especially intriguing about her. In this discussion, we talk about Kihel the medicine girl, and what her real impact is on Final Fantasy XVI. From the emerging and meaningful patterns in her appearances, to what she manages to showcase in those around her, we cover every angle out there, including a strong suspicion that she might be much more than meets the eye -- even a large part of upcoming FF16 DLC. It’s been almost 23 years since voice acting first entered the world of Final Fantasy, and since then, the evolution has been fascinating. In this episode, we dive into decoding the world of Final Fantasy voice acting starting with the most recent game ー Final Fantasy XVI ー and working our way backward to the first game in the series to take on the voice acting challenge ー Final Fantasy X. From Ben Starr (Clive, FF16) to James Arnold Taylor (Tidus, FF10) and everyone in between, we hit the highs, the lows, the mehs, and examine how voice acting in the series has evolved over time, including the hopes we have for its future.
Final Fantasy XVI wowed us for so many reasons, but it also left us with some head scratchers, especially circulating around Ultima, the game’s big baddy. In this episode, Jolie and Ernest dive into their most lingering questions after completing the game multiple times, and take time diving into lore and internet discussions to find the answers. From the multiple Ultimas to what in the world the purpose of Oscar the squire was, to whether or not certain prominent characters survived or died, we discuss it all in this episode of the Final Fantasy Files podcast.
Final Fantasy fans know it well -- that moment when a game’s final cutscene fades to black and credits roll, leaving you with a feeling of… well… what?  And with the release of Final Fantasy XVI, gamers across the world have been expressing all the feels about this most recent installment of the Final Fantasy series.  In the opening episode of this new “ultima(te)” podcast, a couple of lifelong FF appreciators do a scene-by-scene analysis and deep dive discussion-turned-debate into the ending of Final Fantasy XVI -- what went right, and what went… not so right.
