"Finding a side hustle" has been one of the buzz words in the past decade with many more people looking to make their passion profitable. Some people take on multiple jobs, some look to the stock market to invest in the next tech giant, and some put their passion at the forefront by starting their own business.  During the past year alone, with the COVID-19 pandemic, unemployment and majority of the population staying at home, there has been a surge of people launching their personal businesses from home. The cost of living (specially in Vancouver) is rising exponentially and unfortunately, most 9-5 jobs are not booming at the same rate. Love to cook/bake? Start a homemade food business!  Enjoy doing arts and crafts? Start a DIY crafting business! Enjoy cleaning your car? Start a car detailing side hustle! In this episode, our guest Paul, shares with us his experience in starting his own business a few years ago and turning a couple of his side projects to small businesses. Born and raised in Hawaii, Paul is a Professional Engineer who thrives in the AV industry, a family man, a man of faith who regularly volunteers his time to church, and a small business owner in Vancouver, BC. He shares with us a few gems of wisdom that will help us in starting our own side hustle, and most importantly, how to make it successful. Are you looking to start your own business? Put this episode on repeat and launch your business! Share this episode with your friends and to anyone who needs that little push to take a leap in sharing their passion with the rest of the world. Happy listening and always remember to "have a plan". Follow The Life Times Podcast on Instagram @thelifetimespodcast Not using Spotify? In this episode, our guest Mikko, shares with us his experience in becoming a new father during the COVID-19 pandemic in Vancouver, BC. We also discuss topics on the struggles faced by POCs today, and the identity crisis experienced by many Filipino immigrant teenagers trying to "fit in" in a new society. Many points discussed in this episode really hit home for me as I have experienced them personally and I know people who are close to me who have had similar experiences. We barely scratch the surface in this episode because there are many more struggles that Filipino immigrant teenagers face from not only adjusting to a foreign culture, but to also finding a sense of belonging within their own community.  Can you relate to what Mikko and I talked about in this episode? Share this episode with your friends, and if you're comfortable, let us know what other struggles that you encountered as you adjusted to a new society. Happy listening and always remember that "it doesn't cost anything to be nice". Follow The Life Times Podcast on Instagram @thelifetimespodcast Not using Spotify? For the very first time, we have ourselves two guests! As the saying goes, "two is better than one" and that's exactly what this episode has in store, jam packed with the personal experiences of two Filipino nurses practicing in the United Kingdom.  In this episode, our guests Alren and Ivan, shares with us their experiences working in England's public healthcare system, the National Heath Services (NHS). Listen to their story and how they suddenly found themselves in England speaking American English and having to adjust into a completely foreign society. They share with us their journey from the Philippines to the UK, their experience giving care to British patients, and the language barriers that they had to cross to adjust in a new country. Know someone who works in healthcare? Share this episode with them! Or better yet, share this episode with everyone so we can all catch a glimpse of the life of two Filipino frontline workers in the United Kingdom amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Happy listening! In this episode, our guest Arzelle shares with us her experience living in Sacramento, California during her early adolescent life in comparison to her life in Vancouver, Canada during her teenage years to adult life. We touch on topics such as the high school experience in both countries, and Filipino community groups. Make sure to listen until the end so you don't miss Arzelle's top 3 takeaways from the US, and her top 3 takeaways from Canada!   So is Canada better? Is the US better? It honestly depends on where you are in both countries! There are no right or wrong answers but we can sure compare to learn about other Filipinos in the different walks of life! Most of us have probably only seen the life of Armed Forces personnel in movies or TV shows. And more often than not, we don't really see the exact realities that these brave men and women face. In this episode, I was very fortunate enough to have a Navy Veteran join me to share his experience during his time of service in the United States Navy. Don't miss this episode because our guest, Wilbur, has a lot of stories to share including his time in boot camp, and his deployment in South America.  Thank you for supporting the show and happy listening! The Philippine-American War is not known to many people outside of the Philippines. Often overlooked and placed under the shadow of the Spanish-American War, the Philippine-American War was a bloody battle for Philippine independence from Imperial America during the years of 1899-1902. Yes, you read that right - Imperial America.  I am not a historian. But I do love learning about it. That being said, all the information that I shared during this episode is from my own personal research and I encourage everyone to do the same. If in this episode I said anything that is historically inaccurate, please send me a DM on Instagram so that I can continue to learn the history of the motherland.
