Description

This series of discussions will dive into critical questions few in the community are asking, challenge common assumptions, and encourage a more insightful and rational approach to training and care. It’s our sincere hope that our investigation into these topics can provide you with the information you need to succeed with your boys, and to develop an amazing relationship with your flock guardian. Whether you’re new to chickens or an experienced keeper, we hope you’ll join us as we cut through the noise and get to the bottom of what it takes to raise a trustworthy and affectionate rooster.

This week, we're connecting all the subjects we've discussed so far, and discussing how implementation of the strategies we've laid out looks in action. This will be our final "deep-dive" episode of Season 1, but keep an eye on the channel. While we fall back and plot our course for Season 2, we'll be putting out some short "tid-bit" episodes that will address simpler, but equally important questions about rooster health and care. Do you have a topic you'd love to see covered in the upcoming season? Let us know in the Q&A section!
Non-violent methods for modifying behavior might seem like they pose no risk of damaging trust or worsening problems, but quite a few come with their own dangers and drawbacks. This week, we're highlighting some popular "gentle" solutions to undesirable behavior that are far less innocent than they appear. We'll examine the hidden issues with those approaches, and break down how broadening our own perspective can super-charge our ability to identify the best solution to any challenge we encounter, and further strengthen our relationship with (and understanding of) our flocks. Whether you've got an adult roo with "aggressive" tendencies, a young rooster that suddenly "turned mean" or you want to be prepared when 'rooberty' hits your little angel, we'd love to help you create (or repair) a loving relationship with your little yard dinosaur! Have you ever tried to share helpful advice, or encourage greater compassion within the chicken community, only to be met with defensiveness and ridicule? Last week, we talked about why good help is so hard to find online, this week we're focusing on why it's so hard to share. Humans and roosters "attack" for very similar reasons, and it just so happens that the same perspective and strategies we use to avoid conflict with our flock leaders are a game-changer when advocating for them as well. https://bitchinchickens.com/2022/07/07/chicken-welfare-working-together-for-change/ Whether you've got an adult roo with "aggressive" tendencies, a young rooster that suddenly "turned mean" or you want to be prepared when 'rooberty' hits your little angel, we'd love to help you create (or repair) a loving relationship with your little yard dinosaur!
