This Week we finish up chapter 2 and get a sneak peek at chapter 3! Shannon gets deep this week with a lot of personal stories and the importance of our calling to be disciples of Jesus. We are ALL called, we are ALL brothers and sisters of and IN Christ. The author of Hebrews is warning us to remember what we have learned and to not drift away from it, but why?
This week Shannon gives a little bit of a review over Chapters 1 & 2 and we talk a further look into the end of Chapter 2! Do we know why we should put our faith in Jesus? Do you know why the Law was good but it wasn't meant to be forever? Let's keep digging deep in Hebrews and we will get these questions answered!
HAPPY WEEK 5! WE ARE DIGGING INTO CHAPTER 2 THIS WEEK — HOPE YOU ENJOY!
This week Shannon gives us a better view of the first chapter of Hebrews. Verses 1-4 are claims that the author is making, while in verses 5-14 the author is BRINGING THE RECEIPTS! What is Jesus' position compared to the angels'? and why did they think so highly of the angels? If you missed a week catch up now here or on Youtube for the video! Thanks so much, see yall next week!!
This week, we are back in the book of Hebrews. Hebrews has more Old Testament references than any other book in the Bible and we are going to dig through each one. What was the author of Hebrews trying to convey to his audience by reminding them of the past? Follow along as we put those pieces together!
We are SO back! Thank the Lord for a great Summer, but we were BORED. This week is week #1 of the Book of Hebrews -- and in true Shannon fashion we only made it through verse 1! There is so much to learn this year and hopefully you're ready for this book of theology. Join Shannon this year as we go through some deep and tough subjects while building God's Kingdom. It's time to get serious, get your theology and beliefs straight and GET YOUR FACE IN THE BOOK!
Welcome back for Hebrews Week 22! We are starting in Chapter 10 and before we go forward — we must go back to the Psalms to fully contextually understand what the author of Hebrews is trying to convey to the people. Where is David at emotionally when he is writing Psalms 37-40? We see him at his lowest and then we see the evolvement of sorrow to hope in the Lord. We also look at Romans 3 where we see that we are all sinners but were given the FREE gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for our sins. Will we be judged on OUR works or by Jesus’ works? REMINDER: Spring Break is next week so we will be off! We will see you on March 24th & 25th!! Check out our website for more info and schedule! www.itsmaryshannon.org
Hey everyone! Welcome back for Hebrews Week 21! We missed y’all last week — but we appreciate all of the messages and prayers for Shannon to feel better. We are back and ready to roll! Shannon catches us back up this week and we finish up Chapter 9. Shannon talks a lot about the “church” and what that really means. Who is the church? Its not just a place you go on Sunday’s to check off the box — the church is PEOPLE. We are the church and God tells us to continue to meet together so we don’t drift away.  It’s easy for humans (even with good intentions) to build kingdoms even at churches, where a few become famous and the people are oppressed. How do we avoid that? Well let’s keep digging into Hebrews to find out! See you all next week!!  www.aspirewomensevents.com www.itsmaryshannon.org
Welcome back to week 20 of Hebrews! We are deep in Chapter 9 & this week we are watching a clip from @ShawnRyanShow where he sits down with Wes Huff where he asks questions about life, God, Creation, Jesus and the Tabernacle and so much more -- It's inspiring to hear and see people out in the real world, on some of the biggest platforms in the world, talk and ask questions and debate with each other over our Faith, the Bible and the Historical proof of Jesus. We should be sitting with strangers and friends alike -- sharing the news of Jesus and sitting and wrestling with the scripture TOGETHER! We do this every week, but how often do we "cancel" people who disagree with us or ask us hard questions? Are you spending so much time in the Bible that you actually have answers to questions? Are we afraid to even engage in conversation because we don't feel qualified enough? This week is supposed to make you THINK and we hope it inspires you to GET YOUR FACE IN THE BOOK! Clip: @ShawnRyanShow Speakers: @itsmaryshannon @ShawnRyanShow Wes Huff Video footage is from the Shawn Ryan Show Podcast Bible Translation: Christian Standard Bible www.maryshannon.org
Week 18 is live! We are picking up where we abruptly ended last week with Chapter 8, the thesis statement explained. What is the author trying to get across to the audience? His main point? That Jesus is BETTER. Hebrews uses that word “better” more than any other book in the Bible. Are we starting to see the FULL picture or are we still waiting for God to fulfill things He’s already fulfilled? Jesus IS the New Covenant and the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Don’t miss out on such a great Salvation. www.maryshannon.org
Welcome back for Week 17 of the book of Hebrews! This week's study is what Shannon has labeled your "philosophy lesson" .. When will we get this Sabath day Garden of Eden rest? Is Jesus enough? Are we noticing the patterns and thinking for ourselves? you tell us.. Get comfy (or uncomfy) and get out your Bible and notebook because there's a lot of writing this week! We hope you take what God has in store for you in Hebrews chapter 8. www.maryshannon.org
This week we had some technical difficulties when recording so Professor Proverb (Brian Glubish) joined us yesterday to help us go back over last week's study! Shannon and Brian go down rabbit holes, ask and answer "scary" questions, and dive DEEP into theology. It's okay to ask questions and its okay to have them as well. We hope you enjoy this episode of Hebrews! See you all tomorrow!
It’s week 15 and we have a special guest with us — Professor Proverb! He is back from Canada along with his sweet wife Terry for the Holidays. We are so happy to have both of them back for a little while. This week Shannon and Brian get into a little bit of a back story — who is this “Melchizedek”? What is the writer trying to tell us about Jesus by going back? Get ready for more questions and the answers here in Chapters 6 & 7! We will see you all next week — now, go get your face in the Book!
Hi everyone! Thanks for being patient while we were out of town but here is Week 14! Shannon takes the time to give us a refresh of where we’ve been in Hebrews so far. We go back a couple of times… (or more LOL) and we really get a full picture moment here in Hebrews. We see Jesus introduced to us (them) as the ultimate High Priest now in Chapters 4-6. We also go into what “cutting an oath” is and what that meant to the people of that time and what it really should mean to us today; a HOPE in Jesus Christ. So get out your Bibles and notebooks and get ready to start reading and flipping pages! See you all TOMORROW!
Hey everyone! Thanks for being patient while we had an event last week (it was AMAZING!) which took up a lot of time so we couldn’t get Week 13 out right away! This is the last Podcast until January when we get back together after Christmas Break! Shannon finishes up Chapter 5 and we start up Chapter 6 in this episode so open your Bibles and get ready — See yall NEXT YEAR!
This week we are doing a bit of review! We are gonna be reading from Hebrews Chapter 4 verses 1-13 -- we talk about rest and Creation and the intention for Sabbath and the rest that only comes from God.
This week we are starting in Chapter 4! But we run into something -- the first word of the chapter -- "Therefore,..." which means we should ask, "What's it there for?" ! We take a look back at what the author is trying to remind us and the theme of this week is REST! What did we just go over the last couple of weeks? Anxiety and fear, so naturally we gain REST in Jesus and salvation.
This week we are going into Chapter 3! We do a lot of page flipping this week to look back at what the people of the time would've known. The history they lived and heard, sang, and wrote about. We see that Jesus is made higher than the Angels, He is higher than Moses, and He is the one true King who we should bow the knee to in worship! If you haven't caught up yet -- we suggest you go back and listen to Weeks 1-7 so you aren't lost! Enjoy!
