This episode was recorded during Uganda's 62nd Independence Day celebrations at Afrika Arts Kollective. We delve into the theme of artistic independence. The "Independence Artists Brunch," held at Afrika Arts Kollective—an art center located in Kyebando Kisalosalo—provided a unique backdrop for a heartfelt discussion on the journey toward creative freedom and artists' self-sufficiency. We reflected on the significance of this day for artists, celebrating those who have achieved a level of independence while exploring pathways for those still on their journey. Listen in to capture the insights, experiences, and strategies shared by various artists for nurturing artistic independence within our communities.
The Afrika Arts Kollective, in collaboration with DHAADHA'S FIREPLACE, organised a community night and arts talk. During this event, various creative artists gathered around the fireplace to discuss and share strategies and tips. The purpose was to explore ways in which they could professionalize their work, earn the communal seal of approval, gain a larger customer base, and grow their businesses. The artists also aimed to support each other as a pool of creative talents.
Artists have a role to empower the community.
Glad to have collaborated with Afrika Arts Kollective to bring to you the Community Night and Arts Talk podcast.
