The countdown is on for the Asia-Pacific's preeminent women's amateur golf championship at Royal Wellington early next month. The Women's Amateur Asia Pacific Championship begins on February 12, with golfers travelling from all corners of the globe to take part. The pinnacle of domestic cricket in the summer, the 2025-26 Super Smash, begins on Boxing Day. Both the Wellington Blaze and Firebirds begin their campaigns in Palmerston North on December 27, to meet Central Districts, before heading home to both host Auckland at the Basin Reserve two days later. The Wellington Rugby Union has exited its 50% shareholding of the Hurricanes, with a group led by Upper Hutt developer Malcolm Gillies taking the stake in the Super Rugby franchise.
