first year of college

first year of college

2024-05-0336:40

I wrapped up my freshman year of college two weeks ago, and have had a lot of time to reflect on what I learned - compiled in this episode is a mix of lessons and advice that I hope will be encouraging to you as you look forward to college, or as you continue the race that you've already started. If you don't listen, I do want you to hear something I say at the end: "Nothing is permanent and that's beautiful. Someday you'll look back on your life and I don't think you'll remember the 'landmarks' as much as you remember the relationships you made in between them and the way you handled yourself when you couldn't see the next one." Your life is infinitely beautiful, and you are being placed exactly where you are supposed to be. Cheers! Stella

sorry for the delay on this episode, but I'm so excited to finally talk about CONFIDENCE! we all know that one person who lights up every room they walk into. the person other people naturally gravitate toward, the person who socializes naturally and causes heads to turn their way everywhere they go simply because of how they radiate. what is it about them that makes them shine like that? what's different about them? I did some observing and made a list of things that these super-confident people tend to do, and things that you can incorporate into your life if you'd like to grow your own confidence. In today's episode, I go through that list and share some of my own journey with self love and growing confidence. always remember that you are loved, worthy, and can be confident in exactly who you were created to be :)

there are many life lessons to be learned through dating, so in this episode, I share some of my personal experiences with relationships and lessons I've learned along the way. definitely stay tuned for a part 2 in the future - it's impossible to cover everything in one episode, and I hope to do an episode soon going more in depth on the topic of singleness and blessing :) If you've been struggling in your relationships or need a little extra boost, here are some resources that have helped me: - "Single, Not Alone," a podcast featuring Pastor Michael Todd through Transformation Church (found on Spotify) - "Single, Dating, Engaged, Married," a book by Ben Stuart that talks through the importance of each phase of life feel free to reach out to me on Instagram (podcast.heresthething) if you have feedback or would like to hear about something specific in the next episode!

college (so far)

in this episode, I share my experiences from the first two months of college. I’ll definitely be doing another episode on college in the near future where I dive into some more detailed stories and funny/embarrassing things that have happened, but for now, here are some of the biggest things I’ve encountered and learned. this episode is a little different because I decided to record while driving back to school, but there’s a full explanation for that in the first few minutes so don’t you worry (also, it was down-pouring so this recording has a little bit of ambient background noise - hope you don’t mind ;). if you want to hear about anything in particular in the future episode, feel free to DM me @podcast.heresthething on Instagram!
who are you actually?

who are you actually?

I gotta be honest, guys - this is not my best work. I'm a little rusty and losing my voice, but you're all lovely people so I'm going to put it out anyway. in this episode, I talk about my introverted side versus my extroverted side, and how I've forced myself to be one or the other for social acceptance. a lot of the time, there's a social stigma surrounding introverts being party poopers, or extroverts being judgemental, so people force themselves to be one or the other. YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THIS. PEOPLE ACTUALLY DON'T CARE. you were crafted in a very intimate way, and created to be exactly how you are (personality included). once you open yourself up to the real, genuine version of yourself, you'll find yourself healthier, happier, and with more energy for the things and people you really love.

with the new year comes lots of new opportunities, events, people, plans, and change. while this is exciting, it can also be really scary! we’re sitting down this week to discuss positive coping mechanisms for seasons of stress and depression so that hopefully negative situations won’t feel so daunting. from glass blowing to watching Grey’s Anatomy, we cover some of the ways you can deal with stress to make your life a little healthier and happier. *disclaimer, I am NOT a licensed therapist by any means - these are things that have helped me and I hope they can help you too :)) cheers to lovely living and a new year! 🥂

senior year

2022-12-1935:14

in this episode, I reflect on senior year, some regrets I have from high school, and the goals I have made for myself going into second semester and college. high school is HARD and full of ups and downs, but I am a better person because of it and I’m glad I can look back and appreciate it for giving me that. I found a lot of good in high school, and now it’s really fun to look back and see how things worked out and came together :)) this episode is dedicated to my art teacher, Ridl, who has helped me notice the beauty of life. if you have questions or comments, feel free to contact me on Instagram @ podcast.heresthething !!
the women in my life

the women in my life

welcome to the first official episode of here's the thing! listen, I was planning on starting out with a fun get-to-know-me or personal introduction, but instead, I decided to jump into something deeper. lately, the women in my life have been huge inspirations for me, and I thought we'd chat about general relationships between women and how powerful they can be. In this episode, I cover the emotional and vulnerable ties women create with each other, and talk specifically about how this has helped me in recent months as I go through life and hardships. (I also go off on a few rabbit trails and share ways to be more vulnerable with people - that wasn't supposed to happen but I hope you enjoy). side note, this episode had a few recording errors due to bad reception, so bear with me. If you have questions or want to discuss this episode (or anything else), you can contact me @podcast.heresthething on instagram! lastly, I've decided to dedicate each episode I post to one person (out of many) who inspired it, so this episode is dedicated to my sweet friend anna :)
