Leprechaun (1993)

Leprechaun (1993)

2026-03-2058:11

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris head to the end of the rainbow and 1993's horror/comedy cult classic, Leprechaun, as we just celebrated St. Patrick's Day, and the movie has gotten a new 4K (and VHS!) release from Lionsgate Limited [https://lionsgatelimited.com/products/leprechaun-4k-steelbook%C2%AE-corrected]. In one of his defining roles, Warwick Davis stars as The Leprechaun, a malevolent supernatural being who is obsessed with his gold coins, killing anyone who comes into possession of them.  When teenager Tory (Jennifer Anniston) arrives to spend the summer at her father's new country farmhouse, dim-witted contractor Ozzie Jones (Mark Holton) accidentally releases The Leprechaun from his capture in the farmhouse's basement, and he goes on a rampage to get his coins back, which Ozzie and 10-year-old Alex (Robert Hy Gorman) found nearby.  Zach and Chris discuss The Leprechaun's various forms of transportation, the rules of the bag of gold coins, death by pogo stick, Jennifer Anniston basically playing Rachel, and more. You can watch Leprechaun on Peacock.  Next week, we're discovering the Secret of the Ooze and discussing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II for its 35th anniversary.  If you are heading to PAX East in Boston next week and want more TMNT, be sure to check out our panel on the history of TMNT games at 5 PM EST in the Dragonfly Theater. Executive Decision (1996)

Executive Decision (1996)

2026-03-1301:04:50

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris make an Executive Decision to talk about the 90s action thriller as it turns 30, and with both Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and The Madison bringing us a bunch of Kurt Russell on streaming. Kurt stars as Dr. David Grant, an intelligence consultant to the US government who is called in when a plane flying from Athens to Washington D.C. is hijacked,  Believing there is a deadly nerve agent on-board and that the terrorist leader Hassan (David Suchet) is most likely planning on using the plane as a massive bomb to spread the agent, a risky mid-air infiltration is launched.  Grant joins a special forces team, led by Col. Austin Travis (Steven Seagal), to use an experimental stealth plane called the Remora to get on board, defuse the bomb, and take out the terrorists.  Zach and Chris talk about how shocking it was to see Seagal die shortly into the movie, the montage that feels like the Previously On... of a TV show, how insanely overcomplicated the terrorists' bomb is, how the movie feels extremely Tom Clancy, and more. You can rent or buy Executive Decision on Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.  Next week, we're celebrating St. Patrick's Day with the 1993 horror comedy classic Leprechaun, which is getting a new 4K release from Lionsgate Limited [https://lionsgatelimited.com/products/leprechaun-4k-steelbook%C2%AE?variant=44069834260591]. The Monster Squad (1987)

The Monster Squad (1987)

2026-03-0601:08:23

This week on the Everything Actioncast, with The Bride! hitting theaters and bringing some of the classic monsters into the 1930s, Zach and Chris discuss 1987's The Monster Squad, which brought the likes of Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster into the 80s. Directed by Fred Dekker and written by Dekker and Shane Black, The Monster Squad sees a group of kids obsessed with monster movies having to take on monsters for real when Dracula (Duncan Regehr) arrives in their town looking to destroy a magical amulet that would shift the balance of the world to evil and let him and his fellow monsters rule.  Zach and Chris discuss the awesome, legally distinct Stan Winston creature designs, the late Tom Noonan's heartwarming portrayal of Frankenstein's Monster, how Rudy (Ryan Lambert) is doing 90% of the work for the Squad, the fantastic Michael Sembello soundtrack songs, and more. You can watch The Monster Squad on Prime Video or on YouTube for free.  Next week, we're making an Executive Decision and talking about the 90s action thriller for its 30th anniversary. Rumble in the Bronx (1995)

2026-02-2701:08:40

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris head to the mean streets of Vancouver and discuss the 1995 Jackie Chan classic Rumble in the Bronx, which just celebrated the 30th anniversary of its US debut. The film that brought Jackie Chan into the mainstream in the West, Rumble in the Bronx finds the martial arts legend playing Keung, who comes to the US to attend his Uncle Bill's (Bill Tung) wedding and finds himself under attack from a local motorcycle gang and, later, a crime syndicate run by the ruthless White Tiger (Kris Lord).  Zach and Chris discuss the insane locations, including the night club with a live tiger, how getting run over by a hovercraft doesn't seem that bad, Danny (Morgan Lam) playing a Game Gear with no game in it, the surprisingly brutal scene where Jackie gets pelted with glass bottles, and more. You can rent or buy Rumble in the Bronx on Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.  Next week, with The Bride! coming out in theaters and transporting The Monster and The Bride to the 1930s, we're discussing the 1987 cult classic The Monster Squad, which brought almost all the Universal Monsters into the 80s. We want to hear your comments and feedback.  Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com.  Also, let us know your movie suggestions for us to discuss. The Hitcher (1986)

The Hitcher (1986)

2026-02-2001:01:55

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris catch a ride with 1986's The Hitcher as it celebrates its 40th anniversary. Rutger Hauer stars as John Ryder, a terrifying hitchhiking serial killer who targets Jim Halsey (C. Thomas Howell), who is on the road trying to deliver a car from Chicago to San Diego.  Ryder starts to stalk and terrorize Jim, pushing him to the edge and trying to get him to finally snap and kill Ryder.  Zach and Chris discuss Hauer's amazing performance, the odd business of drive-away car delivery, the bizarre cut-away from the most horrific moment in the film, how everyone in the area besides Jennifer Jason Leigh's Nash is a trigger-happy cop, and more. You can watch The Hitcher on Cinemax, but the quality is horrific, so your best bet is physical media [https://amzn.to/4cEAcp2].  Next week, we're celebrating both the Lunar New Year and the 30th anniversary of Rumble in the Bronx, the movie that finally made Jackie Chan a superstar in the West. We want to hear your comments and feedback.  Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com.  Also, let us know your movie suggestions for us to discuss. Broken Arrow (1996)

2026-02-1301:21:17

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris deal with a Broken Arrow situation and discuss John Woo's 1996 action classic for its 30th anniversary. Christian Slater and John Travolta star as Riley Hale and Vic "Deak" Deakins, who co-pilot the stealth bomber.  On an exercise where they are transporting live B83 nuclear bombs, Deak turns traitor and tries to kill Riley, ultimately ejecting him from the plane.  Deak has had an elaborate plan in place to steal the nukes and ransom them back to the US government, or else he'll detonate a bomb in a city.  Riley teams up with park ranger Terry Carmichael (Samantha Mathis) to stop Deak and recover the nukes.  Zach and Chris discuss the ridiculous opening boxing match between Riley and Deak, Riley and Terry never introducing themselves to each other until the final scene, the arrow-like design of the nuclear bomb core, the big acting debut for Howie Long, and more. You can watch Broken Arrow on Prime Video.  Next week, we're catching a ride with The Hitcher and discussing the horror/thriller cult classic for its 40th anniversary. We want to hear your comments and feedback.  Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com.  Also, let us know your movie suggestions for us to discuss. F/X (1986)

F/X (1986)

2026-02-0601:03:38

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris use some movie magic and discuss the 1986 action thriller F/X, which came out 40 years ago this week. Bryan Brown stars as Rollie Tyler, a movie special effects artist who is recruited by the Department of Justice to help fake the murder of a mafia informant in witness protection.  Rollie pulls off the job, but the DoJ tries to kill him, and they murder his girlfriend, Ellen (Diane Venora).  NYPD detective Leo McCarthy (Brian Dennehy) investigates Ellen's death and starts to figure out that there might be some corrupt government agents behind everything.  Zach and Chris discuss how it's a bit odd for the movie to take place in New York City and not Los Angeles, the clunky nature of 80s special effects technology, Rollie getting a bunch of innocent people killed, using special effects as weapons in the finale, and more. You can watch F/X on Tubi and Pluto TV.  Next week, we've got a Broken Arrow as we discuss John Woo's 90s classic for its 30th anniversary. We want to hear your comments and feedback.  Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com.  Also, let us know your movie suggestions for us to discuss. The Mechanic (2011)

The Mechanic (2011)

2026-01-3001:04:41

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris make things look like an accident and discuss 2011's The Mechanic, which came out 15 years ago this week, and just as a new Statham movie, Shelter, hits theaters. A remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson film, Jason Statham stars as Arthur Bishop, a "Mechanic" who is contracted to pull off elaborate assassinations, most of which are designed to look like accidental deaths.  Forced to kill his mentor, Harry McKenna (Donald Sutherland), Arthur takes Harry's angry son, Steven (Ben Foster), under his wing and trains him in the art of assassination.  Zach and Chris discuss differences between this version and the Bronson version, Ben Foster's belief that he can take on a massive Arena football player in hand-to-hand combat, how this feels more like a Hitman video game adaptation than the actual Hitman movies, David Leitch vs. Statham, and more. You can watch The Mechanic on Paramount+, Philo, or MGM+.  Next week, we're learning the deadly art of illusion and discussing 1986's F/X, which is turning 40. We want to hear your comments and feedback.  Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com.  Also, let us know your movie suggestions for us to discuss. Silent Hill (2006)

2026-01-2301:00:57

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris head to the fog-covered streets of 2006's Silent Hill as Return to Silent Hill is out in theaters. Directed by Christophe Gans, Silent Hill mostly tries to adapt the first game in the long-running video game series, but pulls in elements and creatures from other installments.  Radha Mitchell stars as Rose Da Silva, whose adopted daughter, Sharon (Jodelle Ferland), is sleepwalking and experiencing visions of Silent Hill.  Discovering it's a ghost town in West Virginia, Rose attempts to take Sharon there, but an accident with a motorcycle cop, Cybil Bennett (Laurie Holden), results in Sharon going missing and Rose forced to explore the creepy, fog-enshrouded streets of Silent Hill, facing dangerous creatures, including the game's iconic baddie Pyramid Head (Roberto Campanella).  Meanwhile, Rose's husband, Chris (Sean Bean), attempts to find out where Rose and Sharon went and digs into Sharon's past.  Zach and Chris discuss the Geocities-style website that leads Rose to Silent Hill, Cybil immediately leaping to the conclusion that Rose kidnapped Sharon, the fantastic creature design and atmosphere, try to figure out what the hell Silent Hill: Ascension was, and more. You can watch Silent Hill on AMC+/Shudder.  Next week, we're discussing the 2011 Jason Statham movie The Mechanic, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary, and a new Statham movie, Shelter, is hitting theaters. We want to hear your comments and feedback.  Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com.  Also, let us know your suggestions for movies for us to discuss. Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

2026-01-1601:04:45

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris get caught in a time loop and discuss 2014's Edge of Tomorrow, as the anime adaptation of All You Need is Kill is now out in theaters. Tom Cruise stars as Major William Cage, a military PR officer who is the talking head for the battle against the "Mimics", a hostile alien race that has invaded Earth and destroyed most of Europe.  As humanity's big counteroffensive is set to commence, Cage is ordered to cover the frontlines but refuses to engage in actual combat.  After trying to blackmail his superior officer, he's arrested, demoted to private, and sent to join the misfits of J-Squad.  Piloting an exo-suit, Cage is forced into battle where he encounters an "Alpha" mimic whose blood enters his body before he dies.  Cage awakens back at the military base and learns he's now in a time loop, with the day resetting every time he dies.  Zach and Chris discuss why the Mimics would risk their super-powerful Alphas in battle at all, how certain groups of loops are used for mini-missions, the fantastic dark humor, Emily Blunt's badass melee combat, and more. You can rent or buy Edge of Tomorrow on platforms like Fandango at Home, Apple TV, and Prime Video.  Next week, we're heading back to Silent Hill as Return to Silent Hill hits theaters. Warlock (1989)

2026-01-0901:04:00

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris perform an incantation and discuss the cult classic Warlock, which is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its domestic theatrical release this weekend. Basically a horror/supernatural The Terminator, the late Julian Sands stars as The Warlock, who escapes imprisonment in 1691 Boston and ends up in 1991 Los Angeles.  Tasked by Satan himself to find the scattered parts of The Grand Grimoire, The Warlock seeks to undo creation.  Following The Warlock to the future is witch-hunter Giles Redferne (Richard E. Grant), who teams up with waitress Kassandra (Lori Singer) to stop The Warlock.  Zach and Chris discuss how little culture shock both Redferne and The Warlock have in the future, using young boy fat to fly, a weathervane being the most effective weapon against The Warlock, the terrible special effects, and more. You can watch Warlock on Prime Video and Tubi.  Next week, we're getting caught in a time loop and discussing Edge of Tomorrow because an anime adaptation of All You Need is Kill is hitting theaters. Heat (1995)

Heat (1995)

2025-12-1901:28:35

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris plan to take down some scores and discuss 1995's Heat, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Based on his earlier TV movie L.A. Takedown [https://everythingaction.com/2025/12/18/everything-action-theater-l-a-takedown-1989/], Michael Mann's Heat is a crime/heist classic that has inspired countless films and video games since.  Robert De Niro plays criminal Neil McCauley, who leads a group of professional thieves taking down scores in Los Angeles.  At the same time, Al Pacino plays Detective Vincent Hanna, the cop pursuing Neil and his gang.  Both men are focused on their chosen profession at the expense of everything else, including their personal relationships, and a face-off between them is inevitable.  Zach and Chris discuss why Neil would allow a psycho like Waingro (Kevin Gage) on his crew, the cast full of recognizable faces, Pacino outbursts, the epic bank shootout, and more. You can watch Heat on Paramount+.  Next week, Zach and Chris are closing out 2025 by running down their favorite and least favorite movies of the year. We want to hear your comments and feedback.  Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com.  Also, let us know your suggestions for movies for us to discuss. A documentary crew heads down the Amazon to try and find a fabled lost tribe, but gets hijacked by snake poacher Paul Serone (Jon Voight), who forces the crew to help him hunt down a massive, record-breaking anaconda.  The giant snake has other ideas and starts attacking and eating the crew in increasingly ridiculous ways.  Zach and Chris discuss who would pay $1 million for a massive anaconda, hiding a giant poisonous wasp in a scuba tank, the mechanical snake going haywire and nearly injuring everyone on set, the anaconda's ninja-like speed, and more. You can watch Anaconda on Netflix.  Next week, we're pulling a heist with Heat, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. We want to hear your comments and feedback.  Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com.  Also, let us know your suggestions for movies for us to discuss. Freddy's Fridays (2023)

2025-12-0501:05:35

This week on the Everything Actioncast, with Five Nights at Freddy's 2 hitting theaters, Zach and Chris dive into one of FNAF's knockoffs, 2023's Freddy's Fridays. Coming from some of the same team behind the Winnie the Pooh: Blood Honey series, Freddy's Fridays finds a man named Todd Fischer (Jase Rivers) luring sex workers into a creepy murder basement and then forcing them to read Latin text, which summons Freddy (Abu Barry) and his gang of monsters to kill them.  Todd made a deal with Freddy for financial gain, but the cost is nine souls, each sacrificed on a Friday.  The only person seemingly investigating is police officer Lila Jones (Danielle Scott), who eventually goes undercover to find out what's happening to all the missing women.  Zach and Chris discuss whether Freddy and his gang are demons or animatronics, how Todd found his murder warehouse, why Lila's influencer flatmate is a better investigator than the actual police, why Freddy starts breaking his own rules, and more. You can watch Freddy's Fridays on Tubi or The Roku Channel.  Next week, we're heading into the Amazon to revisit Anaconda as the meta remake is coming out later this month, and the original is getting a new 4K release. We want to hear your comments and feedback.  Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com.  Also, let us know your suggestions for movies for us to discuss. Rocky IV (1985)

2025-11-2855:46

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris enter the ring for Rocky IV, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Written and directed by Stallone, Rocky IV sees Rocky Balboa living large as the reigning heavyweight boxing champion.  When the Soviet Union introduces its new contender, Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), they want to have an exhibition match with Rocky.  Rocky declines, but Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) accepts instead.  The match begins as a joke but ends in tragedy as Apollo is killed in the ring.  Rocky travels to the Soviet Union for a grudge match against Drago to avenge Apollo's death.  Zach and Chris discuss the movie's killer soundtrack, Paulie reprogramming a sophisticated robot, high-tech vs old-school training, everyone's no-blocking boxing technique, and more. You can rent Rocky IV on services like Amazon, Google, and Apple.  Next week, we're getting ready for Five Nights at Freddy's 2 with one of its knock-offs, 2023's Freddy's Fridays. Robot Jox (1990)

Robot Jox (1990)

2025-11-2101:05:32

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris climb into some mech cockpits and discuss 1990's Robot Jox, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. One of the final films from Charles Band's Empire Pictures, Robot Jox is set in a world that was devastated by a nuclear war 50 years earlier.  All conflicts between the two factions that control Earth, The Market and The Confederation, are now done via one on one competitions between giant mechs piloted by robot jox.  Achilles (Gary Graham) is the main jox for The Market while the bloodthirsty Alexander (Paul Koslo) is the jox for The Confederation.  They face off to determine which faction will gain control of Alaska and it's valuable resources.  Zach and Chris discuss the interesting world building on the fringes of the movie, how there should be some more safeguards to stop the mech matches, how it may have influenced things like G Gundam and Pacific Rim, the bizarre jox training exercises and more. You can watch Robot Jox on Tubi.  Next week, we enter the ring with Rocky and discuss Rocky IV for its 40th anniversary. We want to hear your comments and feedback.  Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com.  Also, let us know your suggestions for movies for us to discuss. The Running Man (1987)

The Running Man (1987)

2025-11-1401:25:43

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris tune into everyone's favorite dystopian game show, The Running Man, as the new Edgar Wright-directed take on the Stephen King novel hits theaters. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as Ben Richards, who is wrongfully imprisoned when he refuses to fire on unarmed civilians during a food riot and is dubbed "The Butcher of Bakersfield" when the footage is doctored to make it seem like he killed numerous civilians.  Escaping prison, Richards is recaptured and forced to be a contestant on The Running Man, a game show hosted by the devious Damon Killian (Richard Dawson), where "Runners" must try to escape from the top killers called "Stalkers."  Zach and Chris discuss how great Richard Dawson is in basically his only major film role, the practicality of fighting in full hockey goalie pads like Sub-Zero (Professor Toru Tanaka), Mick Fleetwood possibly playing himself, the nonsensical Arnold one-liners, and more. You can watch The Running Man on Paramount+.  Next week, we're discussing another dystopian competition with Robot Jox, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. We want to hear your comments and feedback.  Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com.  Also, let us know your suggestions for movies for us to discuss. 2025-11-0701:06:34

This week on the Everything Actioncast, the hunt is on as Zach and Chris discuss 2010's Predators as Predator: Badlands is now out in theaters. Produced by Robert Rodriguez and directed by Nimrod Antal, Predators finds a group of killers and soldiers dropped onto an intergalactic game preserve, where they realize they are the prey for a trio of intergalactic hunters.  Zach and Chris discuss Adrien Brody as an action star and clearly doing a Christian Bale-style voice, Laurence Fishburne's unhinged appearance, the classic Predator vs. the new Predators, the insane cast, including Walton Goggins and a pre-famous Mahershala Ali, the sequel comic, and more. Saw 3D (2010)

2025-10-3101:27:41

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris celebrate Halloween with the final (at the time) Jigsaw game, Saw 3D, which came out 15 years ago this week. Wrapping up the original Saw series, Saw 3D, aka Saw: The Final Chapter, finds Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) trying to kill Jill Tuck (Betsy Russell) to clear up any loose ends so he can escape before he's arrested as the new Jigsaw Killer.  He takes time to set up one final game, this time involving Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery), a self-help author who has lied about being a victim of the Jigsaw Killer and is now put through the traps for real.  Zach and Chris discuss why Hoffman keeps making games when he wants to escape, the best traps in the movie, how all the side actors feel distinctly Canadian, John's (Tobin Bell) backward baseball cap disguise, the big reveal of who the ultra-secret Jigsaw apprentice is, and more. You can watch Saw 3D on Hulu/Disney+.  Next week, we're on the hunt and watching 2010's Predators to get ready for Predator: Badlands in theaters.
