This week grindcore makes an appearance where we talk about escuela grind, trust funds, free masons and more - we dived into the recent metalcore twitter / mxc twitter crossover, poisoned ascendency tour, how can this nightmare be my life/cease & desist fixed altitude, the psycho-frame copycat band getting announced and cancelled within 24hrs, congress reunion set at ieper fest as well as power trip's return with Seth gilmore.
concert tickets being classed as luxury items by people that haven't heard of local or small shows, 'corporate hardcore', have heart's shows being announced, loathe x dr martens, angelmaker setting a speaker on fire, ieper fest announced more bands and the undying queue discourse continues.
this one had us talking about spiritbox's grammy loss and the discourse that came from a twitter account posting a satirical statement, the $300 gulch record, camping outside venues for days on end in hopes of getting barrier at the show and lastly we talk about sofia's recent experience with an old head at a show that got misinterpreted.
we both had shows to go to on our usual recording day so we recorded this episode a day in advance and thankfully nothing stupid happened but we did get to talk the callous daoboys and their 47% merch cut, diet turnstile/valley girl, flip flopping opinions of bands before and after you know who's in a band, handstands in the pit, metal is for nerds, a venue banning crowd killing and people posting "I miss outbreak fest when it was a hardcore fest".
first month of the year down 12 to go on this week's episode we talk about escuela grind's vocalist getting dropped crowdsurfing and ending up in a neck brace, turnstile converse and how insufferable people will become over them, FIR guitarist calling people marxist teenagers and turning replies off, kublai khan not having 'safe spaces' according to someone on the bird app, our friend jess nyx performing her guest spot on static dress' song courtney, just relax bmth's arena tour, ai artwork and the discourse surrounding it and finally 'the' architects' fanbase becoming everything they apparently stood against.
metalcore took the wheel on this one but hardcore still had its moments. we talk about coachella hardcore bands, metalcore twitter bands deleting their socials due to overbearing fandoms, mic grab etiquette and how mic grabs rule, right wing guitarist in a left wing metalcore band, coworker hardcore and we had a couple thank yous to make this episode as well as a couple fundraisers we wanted to bring attention to.

last one of the year! we talk about alternative fandoms and their recent cult-like behaviour that at times put their own idols in jeopardy, the claim that the moshing is cancelled and music is dying according to an out of touch old head on youtube, a pro-nazi merch site's customer database being compromised and released to the public and lastly a christmas message from greg and sofia to close out the year and when we'll be back.
