Winner of the 2025 American Writing Awards Podcast of the Year in Fiction and the 2024 Positive Change Podcast Awards for Best Host and Best Book Podcast. Tune in to be introduced to new and upcoming authors in a wide variety of fiction genres - from historical to fantasy to mystery to thriller to romance – as well as inspirational memoirs.

Online for Authors is the only podcast with a host that personally reads and reviews indie-written fiction and inspirational/memoirs for avid readers who want to add books for their TBR beyond what they can find on the NYT best sellers list. As an award-winning host, Teri M Brown’s goal for Online for Authors is to introduce avid readers to characters they’d like to invite to lunch. If you read more than 40 books per year and want to veer away from the NYT Best Seller’s List or want to expand beyond your preferred genre, Online for Authors can help you discover novels written by Indie-Authors to add to your to-be-read list.

Teri M Brown is an author of character-driven fiction and lives for the moments her characters speak their stories to her. Recognizing that other authors also have interesting lives and reasons for writing, Teri uses Online for Authors as a space for these authors to shine. Avid readers listening to Online for Authors will have the opportunity to discover new authors, amazing characters, and “can’t stop reading” stories.

If you are looking for the next book on your “to be read” pile, then this is the podcast for you. Listen as authors discuss their latest work (no spoilers!), the impetus behind the storyline, how/where/why they write, what’s coming up next, and more! These conversations are in-depth because, unlike many hosts, Teri takes the time to read and review each novel before interviewing her guests. She believes that by doing so, she can guarantee a good fit for her audience as well as an interesting and inquisitive interview.

Additionally, the first Saturday of each month, Teri releases what she affectionately calls OFAU – Online for Authors University. These once-monthly episodes feature writing tips for authors in all stages of their careers and speaks directly to her desire to mentor others. Whether someone wants to know about editing, marketing, book awards, being a guest on a podcast, or how notebooking can help you overcome writer’s block, writers and aspiring writers will find useful tips to move their writing to the next level.

My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Rebecca Wolf, author of the book Alive and Beating. Rebecca is a former journalist whose fiction and essays have appeared in many publications, including Apricity and Tablet. She is a volunteer writing tutor for PEN America’s Prison Writing Program, and she lived in Jerusalem as a foreign student before attending Barnard College. She lives in New Jersey with her family.   In my book review, I stated Alive and Beating is a beautiful literary fiction novel. Loosely based on the true story of Rebecca's friend, Alisa, this story looks at six individuals linked only by the need for an organ donation to survive. Set in Israel, the six main characters span across the different religions and nationalities. Although this area of the world is steeped in conflict, Rebecca shows us something more - humanity. In fact, when hope for a healthy body is the top priority, we see that so many other things just don't matter.   I was immediately drawn into the characters' lives and hoped they would find their miracle. From the young Hasidic woman to the young teenage boys, I went willingly along on their journeys of both despair and hope. And of course, the thought never left me that for these six to survive, someone had to die. Offering life from tragedy is a noble gift.   This is a story that will stick with you long after you close the pages. The only thing I wish I knew is what the characters did with the great gift bestowed upon them.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Rebecca Wolf Website: https://www.rebeccawolfauthor.com/ IG: @aliveandbeating   Purchase Alive and Beating  on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4bDGV2f Ebook: https://amzn.to/4rCkn6B   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Kim Gottlieb-Walker, author of the book Lenswoman in Love. Kim Gottlieb-Walker’s  career as a photographer covered a wide range of subjects, from classic rock and roll, reggae, and politics in the ‘60s and ‘70s to major motion pictures and television shows.   While still at UCLA (where she  received a BA in Motion Picture production) and shortly thereafter, she shot for underground LA newspapers and magazines including Crawdaddy, the Staff, and Music World. She  also shot the stills for John Carpenter’s Halloween, The Fog, Christine and Escape from New York and worked at Paramount Pictures for nine years as the production photographer for Cheers, and five years for Family Ties. For three decades she  was an elected representative for still photographers on the National Executive Board of IATSE Local 600, the International Cinematographers Guild.   Her coffee-table photo books Bob Marley and the Golden Age of Reggae and On Set with John Carpenter were published by Titan Press (UK) distributed by Random House (USA) and both are now in multiple printing. They have editions in Japanese, Russian and French. She’s  had gallery shows in London, Los Angeles and New York.   Her debut novel,  LENSWOMAN IN LOVE - a novel of the 1960s & ‘70s  has won over a dozen literary awards. Her not-yet published historical novel CATERINA BY MOONLIGHT, is about a girl growing up in Renaissance Florence in the late 15th century. Her short story “Summer of Love – 1967” appears in the multi-award-winning anthology FEISTY DEEDS.   In my book review, I stated Lenswoman in Love is a historical romance by Kim Gottlieb-Walker. We are introduced to Maddy Garfield as a teenager at some point after her father dies. Her mother owns a bar where folk musicians play and hires a college kid working arely ifor a degree in film for the summer to help out. Maddy, known as Garfield to the new hire, Jake, falls madly and deeply in love. But the age different is too great, and Jake heads back to school early. Maddy never forgets him and spends her days comparing others to him. And they always come up short. In the meantime, she becomes a photographer and scrabbles her way up the ladder, slowly capturing stories and people - occasionally finding her way into Jake's circle.   This story is filled to the brim with musical and film references, as well as the unrest of the 60s and 70s. Vietnam? It's in there. Nuclear plants? Yep. Bob Marley? The Beatles? Hippes? College protests? And so much more. These references land the book squarely in historical fiction, though it pains me that these decades are considered historical. However, Maddy's deep and abiding love for a man she barely knows puts the book into the romantic realm. And Kim balances the two with ease.   I enjoyed the book thoroughly, and think you will, too!   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Kim Gottlieb-Walker Website: http://www.lenswoman.com/ Website: https://www.caterinabymoonlight.com/ FB: @KimGottliebWalker LinkedIn: @Lenswoman IG: @kimbgottliebwalker   Purchase Lenswoman in Love on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4qbwKWb Ebook: https://amzn.to/4k9mRGU   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Elyse Seal, a fiction book coach. Elyse helps authors get unstuck and finish their novels without spending years rewriting the same draft. With five years of experience and training from Author Accelerator, she specializes in sci-fi and fantasy authors. She helps writers build solid story foundations before they write and coaches them through editing in layers, big picture first, then scenes, then language. Her approach is candid and collaborative. She challenges authors to go deeper into character development and examine whether each scene is doing the heavy lifting it needs to do. Because every word matters. Authors hire her for clarity, accountability, and expert guidance toward the finish line.   According to Elyse’s website, “you’ll stop second-guessing and start writing with purpose, direction, and the confidence that your story matters. Whether you’re just starting with an idea, deep in your first draft, or stuck after many revisions, I’ve got you.   “Writing is hard, but it’s not because you’re doing it wrong.  You just need a plan, support, and someone who gets it.”   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   You can follow Author Elyse Seal Website: https://www.elysesealcoaching.com/ IG @elyse.j.seal FB: @Elyse Seal   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Joseph M Lenard, author of the book The Book of Kennedy. Joseph Martin Lenard is a former IT (Information Technology) guy now turned American author, blogger, cancer survivor, podcaster, political activist, speaker, social media influencer, spokesperson / affiliate for American Hartford Gold IRA group, and vlogger known for writing and publishing the #1 Amazon bestseller historical fiction thriller Terror Strikes: Coming Soon to a City Near You. He also released in December 2022 a book called How To Write A Book And Get It Published: Hints, Tips & Techniques, to help writers fulfil their dream of becoming an internationally published author, and his third Internationally available fare dropped August 2023 titled ChristiTutionalist TM Politics as a companion (written piece) to his ChristiTutionalist TM Politics podcast of same name began airing in June 2023. In 2025 release of 6th International book "The Book Of Kennedy" (his first available in Hard-Cover, as well as Audio-Book, eBook, Softcopy) hit in August of 2025.   In my book review, I stated The Book of Kennedy is YA novelette. The book follows Kennedy, a young woman who is transitioning from one relationship to another. Written without any dialogue, the reader is put into Kennedy's head as she contemplates relationships, life, faith, hope, and kindness.   Joseph uses scriptures, song lyrics, and movie/book quotes to help the reader understand Kennedy's journey forward as she reflects on her past relationship and the new one.   Joseph states upfront that he is not trying to be Dickens, and that he uses today's way of speaking to write. Although I understand his reasoning, I often found it difficult to read, wanting to stop and correct the errors along the way or change fragments into full sentences. Nonetheless, the lessons learned are very valuable. Plus, he gives a long list of additional resources for those who want to learn more about the philosophy being mulled in Kennedy's head.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Joseph M Lenard Website: http://JosephMLenard.us FB: @Martin.Edward.Kieler IG: jlenarddetroit LinkedIn: Joseph M Lenard   Purchase The Book of Kennedy on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/3NKLEFp Ebook: https://amzn.to/3ZCf379   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Kelly Keefe, author of the book She. Kelly Keefe is a bestselling author, speaker, and transformational guide helping women activate their voice, embody their truth, and become who they came here to be. She is the author of She, a soul-stirring novel of awakening, and Rise Above Fear, a powerful guide to releasing limitation and leading with purpose.   Kelly is the Founder of The Heartspace, a sanctuary for healing and energy mastery, and the creator of The Frequency Field, a transformational framework woven into her signature programs like Becoming365™ and The Writers Circle.   Her work spans from United Nations stages to retreats in Costa Rica, guiding leaders, creatives, and seekers through personal and spiritual evolution.   Whether through story, energy, or presence, her mission is clear: You're here with a divine purpose - let's tune in. To learn more or work with Kelly, follow on Instagram at @thekellykeefe   In my book review, I stated She is a contemporary fiction. The story follows a woman only known as 'she.' What is amazing is that I didn't realize 'she' was never formally introduced until I tried to remember the character's first name and couldn't! Although we don't know her name, we know plenty. She had a heartbreak. She decided to change up her life by moving to New York City despite having no job there. She is ready to be someone, something else.   I enjoyed going along with her as she found an apartment, began to gather friends and acquaintances, and discovered herself through different yoga practices. Plus, there's a bit of romance, and who can resist watching someone fall in love?   This book lands squarely in literary fiction, giving readers a front-row seat into the daily life of a woman trying to discover who she is and how she wants to show up in the world.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Kelly Keefe Website: www.thekellykeefe.com IG: @thekellykeefe LinkedIn: @kelly-keefe FB: @kelly.keefe.10   Purchase She on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/3Nxr1ML Ebook: https://amzn.to/4q1bqmk   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Michael Colon, author of the book The Gift from Aelius. Michael Colon is a creative freelance writer and novelist, born and raised in the Big Apple, New York City. He uses his craft to profoundly impact the lives of others with thought-provoking words that breathe life into his characters. He often equates his writing to painting masterpieces with prose. His inspiration comes from various societal art forms and his own life experiences. When he isn’t writing he enjoys working out, watching sports, visiting museums, and exploring nature trails.   In my book review, I stated The Gift from Aelius is a fantasy novella. Despite not being a hardcore fantasy reader, I like the premise of this book. What happens when AI is smart enough to take over? What do humans do? And more importantly, what does AI, known in this story as Codex, do? And wouldn't it be ironic if Codex determined power at any cost was the answer, given they were created by humans who believe that power at any cost is the answer?   And all would be going as planned, except one Codex is more than meets the eye. As he begins having 'glitches', he comes to understand that the world would be a better place if Codex and humans could live side by side in harmony. For A191, this becomes his personal mission. But will he be decommissioned before he can reach his goal?   At times, I struggled with the writing, feeling like I was being told rather than left to experience. However, the author did a good enough job that I had to finish reading to find out what happened in the end.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Michael Colon Website: https://www.twbpress.com/authormichaelcolon.html FB: @Michael Colon IG: @michaelcolonauthor   Purchase The Gift from Aelius on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/3Nayf9r Ebook: https://amzn.to/4rb39gD   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Steven Scott Eichenblatt, author of the book Pretend They are Dead. Steven is a graduate of Florida State University and the University of Florida College of Law. A practicing attorney and father of five, he has spent over thirty years advocating for children as a pro bono guardian ad litem and representing families of first responders killed on 9/11. As a founding partner of Page & Eichenblatt, he has received multiple awards for legal excellence and community work supporting children. He lives with his wife in Orlando, Florida.   In my book review, I stated Pretend They Are Dead is heartbreaking memoir. Steven's father had issues - enough that his parents divorced. She remarried a man who was verbally and physically abusive. Although, technically, Steven had two fathers, he felt abandoned by both. By the time he graduated high school, he called no one dad.   The trauma from his youth made it impossible to have lasting relationships, though he tried, failing at two marriages. But something he didn't want to fail at was being a father. So, he loved his children with everything he had and worked hard to figure out the truth of his past.   I like Steven's style of writing. I felt like I was in his head - which spins from one topic to the next. I could see why he exasperated his parents at a young age! He is also honest - about his own actions as well as the actions of others. Despite the circumstances, in the end, he doesn't really cast blame. Instead, he figures out how to forgive, let the past go, and find joy in today.   If you like a good memoir, you'll like this book!   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Steven Scott Eichenblatt Website: https://www.stevenscotteichenblatt.com/ FB: @seichenblatt IG: @seichenblatt X: @SSEichenblatt LinkedIn: @Steven Eichenblatt   Purchase Pretend They are Dead on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/3NGK72R Ebook: https://amzn.to/4qQtzE4   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Dorothea N Buckingham, author of the book Code Name Rascal. Dorothea “Dee” Buckingham is a seasoned author, retired librarian, and dedicated historian who has called Hawaiʻi home for over 30 years. Her profound interest in the daily lives of women during World War II in Hawaiʻi has been the cornerstone of her literary work. Dee’s commitment to uncovering and narrating these often-overlooked stories has established her as a respected voice in historical fiction.   Her notable publications include My Name is Loa, a historical novel set on Molokaʻi, and Who Murdered Jane Stanford?: An Answer Imagined, which delves into the mysterious death of Stanford University’s co-founder in 1905 Hawaiʻi. Additionally, she co-authored World War II Hawaiʻi with her husband, retired Lieutenant Colonel John Buckingham, offering a pictorial history that captures the transformative impact of the war on the islands.   Dee’s passion for storytelling extends beyond writing; she is an Author Accelerator certified book coach, providing guidance to aspiring writers. Her engaging talks and workshops have been featured on west coast radio and television in Hawaiʻi, and she has presented to diverse audiences, sharing her insights on writing and historical research.   Her latest work, Code Name Rascal, continues her mission to illuminate the vital roles women played during wartime, weaving a narrative that is both historically rich and emotionally resonant.   Dee enjoys connecting with readers and is available to meet with book clubs and reading groups, both in person and via Zoom, to discuss her work and share insights into her writing process.   In my book review, I stated Code Name Rascal is a wonderful historical fiction. This story takes place in Hawaii immediately following the attack on Pearl Harbor. We quickly meet four women, all very different from one another, who join a classified radar operation known as WARD, with the code name Rascal.   One of the things I loved best about this story is that I was completely unaware of WARD or even the issues in Hawaii after the initial bombing. I'm not sure where I was during school, but there is a lot more to what happened than I realized! Code Name Rascal helped fill in so many of the blanks.   I also really loved Dorothea's characters. CJ is a strong, newly-married journalist. Ruth is a quiet Navy officer wife. Jane is a pilot going through divorce. And Eve is a Honolulu socialite. Imagine all these women thrust into tiny quarters, working grueling hours, keeping war secrets, and still trying to figure out their own lives. It's like a historical soap opera, full of determination, grief, danger, and disappearing dreams - and it's one you won't want to miss!   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Dorothea N Buckingham Website: https://dorotheabuckingham.com/ Substack: https://dorotheanbuckingham.substack.com/   Purchase Code Name Rascal on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/3LrHJMU Ebook: https://amzn.to/49sTwUx   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Eric F Goldstein, author of the book Taught. As a middle and high school teacher, Eric Goldstein founded the Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization, One World Education. Through programs that teach writing skills through social justice, the organization has transformed more than 65,000 students into writers with voice, knowledge, and purpose. Inspired by two decades of listening to students tell their stories, Eric’s debut novel, TAUGHT, released in January 2026.   In my book review, I stated Taught is a contemporary literary fiction that follows a teacher and a former student on a week-long journey. However, this journey is not something either one planned.   Jerry Brown's life is a mess. He's likely to lose his job as a teacher. He and his wife are having issues. And Malik, a former student, is beat by police during a protest. He decides to go camping and write graduation letters to his students. But before he gets out of town, Malik shows up. So, they leave together.   This is not a fast-paced story, but one where the back stories leak out slowly and deliberately. We see Jerry doubting himself as a teacher and husband. We see Malik doubt himself as a student and friend. Both doubt whether they can live up to the title of 'man'. And, as the reader, we feel the pain.   Race plays a huge role in the story, allowing us to glimpse lives we might not otherwise experience - and allowing us to ask the hard questions. Is racism real? Is it everywhere? Do people experience a stop in a backwoods gas station differently depending on their skin? And, more importantly, what can - or should - we do about it?   I definitely suggest this one for your TBR.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Eric F Goldstein Website: www.onelongroad.com IG: @ericfgoldstein   Purchase Taught on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/3NilBFl   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Kim Sorrelle, author of the book Love Is. Kim Sorrelle is a writer, speaker, entrepreneur, and director of a humanitarian organization. She is the author of two books, "Cry Until You Laugh" which details her journey through cancer, and "Love Is" which chronicles her year-long experiment to discover the true meaning of love. Kim is passionate about people and loves to travel to new places and meet new faces. She has five children and eleven grandchildren whom she adores and believes will one day make a positive impact on the world. Kim is committed to living a life of love and is determined to make a difference in the lives of those around her.   In my book review, I stated Love Is is a beautiful memoir exploring the concept of Christ-like love. She uses 1 Corinthians 13 as a guide and spends an entire year trying to love as Jesus would love. What a gift she's given all who read her words - a way to think about loving others that goes beyond words and hits squarely on actions. And not just any actions, but actions that truly depict love for another.   Love is patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, does not dishonor others, is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, does not keep a record of wrongs, does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth, always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres - it never fails. Kim learned that such love isn't easy to live - even when your focus is on just one phrase. I loved how honest she was - sometimes that she believed it would be easy and was wrong, and often that she knew it would be hard and it was harder than she imagined.   Without a doubt, this book has me thinking - and re-thinking - about love, how I show it to others, and how I can make changes to live more fully the love described in 1 Corinthians 13.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Kim Sorrelle Website: https://www.kimsorrelle.com/ FB: @Kim Sorrelle IG: @kimsorrelle LinkedIn: @Kim Sorrelle   Purchase Love Is on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4q1IStf Ebook: https://amzn.to/4iOeJev   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Joseph J Fontenot, author of the book Sons of the Arghandab. Joseph “Fonty” Fontenot is a combat veteran who served 20 years in the US Army and retired as a First Sergeant, with combat deployments to Abu Ghraib, Iraq, and the Arghandab River Valley, Afghanistan. Before enlisting in the army, he was a successful musician who gave up his career to serve during the global war on terror. After his year in Afghanistan, he was a Drill Sergeant and won Soldier of the year in 2015. He subsequently suffered multiple career-ending injuries and, despite several years in the warrior transition unit, chose to return to the 101st airborne division. Fontenot earned a bachelor’s degree in forensic psychology from Purdue Global University, and recently earned a certification as a Veteran Service Officer or VSO, to be able to continue helping veterans potentially with the VA.   In my book review, I stated Sons of the Arghandab is a memoir about his time in Afghanistan. This was not an easy read because conditions in the Arghandab Valley during 2010-2011 were anything but easy. From the temperatures, to the living quarters, to enemy fire, to losing buddies day in and day out ... I can't begin to comprehend what Joseph and his team went through. However, his book will help you get a better understanding of what our military endured and what they continue to endure now that they are back home.   By the end of the narrative, you will feel like you know the men Joseph knew, which will have you smiling when things go well and crying when they do not. My husband used to quote "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." I am beyond grateful that there are men like Joseph J Fontenot. What would our world be like without them?   As a nation, we need to do better by our returned soldiers, offering them the mental health care they need after seeing such violence and always working on the edge of certain death. Thank you, Joseph, for writing your memoir and helping the world understand what you did.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Joseph J Fontenot FB: @Sons of the Arghandab Top Guns in the Devil’s Playground Book Group IG: @SonsoftheArghandabbook   Purchase Sons of the Arghandab on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4iHUJtQ Ebook: https://amzn.to/4oLo4VV   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Leslie R Schover, author of the book Fission. Leslie is a clinical psychologist and brings her knowledge of people and relationships to her fiction writing. She spent most of her career at the Cleveland Clinic and the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. She published three self-help books and created a digital health company to educate people with cancer about sex and fertility. Will2Love.com won a 2019 Innovation Prize in the Astellas C 3 Changing Cancer Care contest. Her first published novel, Fission: A Novel of Atomic Heartbreak draws on her parents’ stories of Oak Ridge during the Manhattan Project and on revelations of Soviet spies there. She lives in Houston, Texas with her faithful dog, Luc.   In my book review, I stated that Fission is a wonderful historical fiction. Although set during WWII, this book takes place completely within the United States as we follow Doris and her husband Rob to Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Doris' husband is tapped to work on the Manhattan Project, a top-secret program to create the first atomic bomb.   As a reluctant young mother and bride, Doris first has to decide if she will move to Oak Ridge or continue her education. When she finally moves to Oak Ridge, she has to figure out her place in a world very different from Chicago. Will being Jewish be something to overcome? Will her husband's lack of education stop him from advancing? Will Doris figure out her role as wife and mother? What will she do when romance comes knocking - and not from her husband?   I was excited to learn this story is based loosely on Leslie's parents, which gives an emotional edge to the characters - and you know how I love a good character! This is a must-read book that will give you an insider's look at The Manhattan Project and how it affected not just the scientists, but all who lived and worked in Oak Ridge.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Leslie R Schover Website: https://www.leslieschoverauthor.com/ IG: @leslieschover FB: @leslie.schover.9   Purchase Fission on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4rRR3dp Ebook: https://amzn.to/48Cb92k   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Ruth F Stevens, author of the book My Year of Casual Acquaintances. Ruth F. Stevens likes to create stories that will make readers laugh and cry. A former public relations executive in New York and Los Angeles, she is a produced playwright and award-winning author of three novels: Stage Seven, My Year of Casual Acquaintances, and The Unexpected Guests. Ruth is a member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association and the Dramatists Guild of America and serves as a volunteer and acquisitions editor for AlzAuthors.   Ruth lives in Torrance, California with her husband. In her spare time, she enjoys travel, hiking, hip-hop and fitness classes, yoga, Broadway musicals, wine tasting, leading a book club, and visiting her grandsons in NYC.   In my book review, I stated My Year of Casual Acquaintances by Ruth F Stevens is a wonderful contemporary women's fiction. We meet Mar, a recently divorced woman who drops everything from her past and tries to start over. However, she has zero intention of becoming serious with anyone - neighbors, friends, or dates!   We follow Mar for a year as she finds and meets different people on her journey of rediscovery. Some relationships last and others fall to the wayside. But in each, Mar learns something about herself. However, she isn't truly happy because she isn't allowing real connection. The question is - can she? Will she?   I laughed and cheered and sighed over Mar. She has a big heart but is afraid to let anyone see it. As someone who has had to start over (on more than one occasion), I understand her reluctance. But like Mar, I've learned it is worth putting yourself on the line.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Ruth F Stevens Website: https://ruthfstevens.com/ IG: @ruthfstevensauthor/ FB: @rfsauthor   Purchase My Year of Casual Acquaintances on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4ppTZfs Ebook: https://amzn.to/48LKnEN   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is JD Rasch, author of the book Quasi-Crystal. Jody “J.D.” Rasch is a writer, artist, social activist, and author. His debut fantasy series, The Wanderer, incorporates social issues including politics, religion and how we are influenced in our lives.   Jody is also a painter, whose art explores the mysteries of our world. Jody worked in finance for many years but managed to use it for good by helping banks that gave loans to the poor. Jody now serves on not-for-profit boards that seek to make the world a better place.   A native New Yorker who was forced to move to the burbs, Jody now lives just outside New York City.   In my book review, I stated The Quasi-Crystal is part 3 of a fantasy series, The Wanderer. Despite being the third book of which I didn't read the first two, I found this fantasy quite fascinating. I particularly liked Pom, an ex-thief who soon realizes she has immense powers of empathy and calm, as well as Theb, a gemstone cutter who insists the rock he has found is more than a rock. Both find themselves drawn into a quest despite having no real appetite for one.   JD does a great job getting readers to think about politics and religion, asking questions like what do you want? And why? In one instance, he shows two groups who worship differently, and face in opposite directions to pray. The question is asked - does the direction matter? And it made me think about ways people worship and whether the differences are significant or superficial.   Throughout the book, readers learn tidbits of JDs beliefs - humans are humans, people can create excuses for anything they do, we always have a choice, and more. Throw these in with great characters and a fantasy world complete with a quest to save humankind - and you have a great story. As someone who isn't usually interested in fantasy, I still enjoyed this story.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author JD Rasch Website: https://jdrasch.com/ LinkedIn: @jodyrasch IG: @jodyrasch FB: @jody.rasch.35   Purchase The Quasi-Crystal on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4hUtLin Ebook: https://amzn.to/4qRuxke   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Maryka Biaggio, author of the book Gun Girl and the Tall Guy. Maryka Biaggio is a psychology professor turned novelist who specializes in historical fiction based on real people. She loves unearthing the stories of people overlooked by history and bringing them back to life—portraying their challenges and foibles and rekindling their emotional world. Previous novels include The Model Spy, The Point of Vanishing, Eden Waits, and Parlor Games. Her fiction has won several accolades, including Willamette Writers Award, Oregon Writers Colony Award, Historical Novel Society Review Editors’ Choice, La Belle Lettre Award, an Upper Peninsula of Michigan Notable Books Award, and a Regional Arts & Council grant. She served on the Board of the Historical Novel Society North America Conference from 2015-2025. She has mentored other writers in AWP's Writer-to-Writer Mentorship Program since 2020. She’s an avid opera fan and enjoys gardening, art films, and, of course, great fiction. She lives in Portland, Oregon.   In my book review, I stated Gun Girl and the Tall Guy is a historical fiction by Maryka Biaggio. It is based on a true story of a crime duo, Celia and Ed Cooney, in 1920s Brooklyn. And quite frankly, I loved everything about this book! The characters are vivid. I could see the Brooklyn from 100 years ago. And the story is amazing.   Celia grew up in a tough environment. She escapes her family and marries Ed, a young man just home from the war. He is kind, gentle, and loves her completely. But, like most young couples, they are broke. When she learns she is pregnant, she doesn't want to raise her child with nothing. So, they hatch a plan to rob a store - just to get enough to start them on their way. But the thrill and the fame, as well as an ever-increasing need for more things, keeps them in the game long after it makes sense.   Although it makes no sense, I was routing for Celia and Ed to evade the police! Maryka did a great job getting me to pull for the bad guy rather than the Brooklyn police, which is what started happening as the pair became more infamous. I won't spoil it for you - it's a must read.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Maryka Biaggio Website: https://marykabiaggio.com/ IG: @authormaryka FB: @maryka.biaggio   Purchase a copy of Gun Girl and the Tall Guy on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/3N7slpa Kindle: https://amzn.to/49fR43f   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Susie Black, author of the book The Case of the Croaked Coach. Named Best US Author of the Year by N. N. Lights Book Heaven, award-winning cozy mystery author Susie Black was born in the Big Apple but now calls sunny Southern California home.   She reads, writes, and speaks Spanish, albeit with an accent that sounds like Mildred from Michigan went on a Mexican vacation and is trying to fit in with the locals. Since life without pizza and ice cream as her core food groups wouldn’t be worth living, she’s a dedicated walker to keep her girlish figure. A voracious reader, she’s also an avid stamp collector. Susie lives with a highly intelligent man and has one incredibly brainy but smart-aleck adult son who inexplicably blames his sarcasm on an inherited genetic defect.   In my book review, I stated The Case of the Croaked Coach is the first in the Hannah White mysteries. If you love a good cozy mystery, especially one with a teenage sleuth, you are going to love Hannah White. She wants to be a journalist, and she asks a lot of questions. This time, though, will her questions lead to answers or get her killed?   We learn quickly that the football coach isn't the best character. By the time of his death, there are over half a dozen potential suspects - each with ample reason to want him dead. Of course, Hannah should leave this to the police, but she can't. Why? Because they have arrested her friend and aren't looking for other suspects. But Hannah is sure Dean didn't do it.   Hannah relies on her friends, her attorney uncle, and a private investigator to help her find the truth. But will she find the truth and get others to believe her in time?   This is a fun read - and a great introduction to Susie Black!   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Susie Black Website: www.authorsusieblack.com FB: @Susie Black, author of The Holly Swimsuit Mystery FB: @TheHollySwimsuitMysterySeries IG:@hollyswimsuit LinkedIn: @authorsusieblack-61941011 X: @hollyswimsuit   Purchase The Case of the Croaked Coach on Amazon: Paperback:  https://amzn.to/47uRd28 Ebook: https://amzn.to/3JVewZT   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? Carole O’Neill’s guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Shelley Blanton-Stroud, author of the book An Unlikely Prospect. Shelley grew up in California’s Central Valley, the daughter of Dust Bowl immigrants who made good on their ambition to get out of the field. Recently retired from teaching writing at Sacramento State University, she serves as President of the Board of 916 Ink, an arts-based creative writing nonprofit for children, and serves on the Board of Advisors for the Gould Center for Humanistic Studies at Claremont McKenna College. She also interviews mystery and thriller authors for the Mystery Review Crew. Shelley is the author of the critically acclaimed Jane Benjamin Mystery series, which includes Copy Boy, Tomboy, and Poster Girl. Her writing has been a finalist in the Sarton Book Awards, IBPA Benjamin Franklin Awards, Killer Nashville’s Silver Falchion Award, the American Fiction Awards, and the National Indie Excellence Awards. She and her husband live in Sacramento, surrounded by photos of their out-of-town sons, their wonderful partners, very first grandchild, and a lifetime of beloved dogs.   In her book review, Carole O’Neill stated: An Unlikely Prospect is historical fiction by Shelley Blanton-Stroud. I immediately found myself routing for Sandy Zimmer who inherits the job of publisher of the Prospect newspaper when she becomes a widow at the age of thirty-two. As San Francisco erupts in celebration, the VJ Peace Riot results in eleven deaths and six rapes throughout the city.   While everyone around her celebrates, Sandy is forced to take over her husband’s former duties and win the support of her controlling father-in-law. She guides her newspaper to cover the riot by printing the truth of the assaults on the victims. However, her father-in-law tries to use his position on the board to bury the scandal in order to attract the United Nations Headquarters to San Francisco.   She knows she must navigate between the needed reporting and the required votes on her board to keep her job and save the Prospect. Convincing the other newspaper publishers in the city to divide the issues and report the truth results in her finding her voice in the male dominated world of 1945 journalism.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Shelley Blanton-Stroud Website: https://shelleyblantonstroud.com/ FB: @blantonstroudauthor IG: @blantonstroud   Purchase An Unlikely Prospect on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/48IkFku Ebook: https://amzn.to/4pWLb0D   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is SM Stevens, author of the book Beautiful and Terrible Things. S.M. Stevens began writing fiction during back-to-back health crises: a shattered pelvis and ovarian cancer. She writes contemporary novels designed to make readers laugh, cry, and think. Her most recent novel, Beautiful and Terrible Things, has won seven awards including Indies Today’s Best Literary Book of 2024, and an Honorable Mention in the Social Issues category of the 2024 Readers’ Favorite International Book Award Contest. Her novella The Wallace House of Pain won the 2023 American Fiction Award for Best Novelette, and First Place in the Short Fiction category of the Chanticleer International Book Awards. A lifelong New Englander other than stints in England and Italy, she lives in Washington, N.H.   In my book review, I stated Beautiful and Terrible Things is a contemporary fiction by SM Stevens. We start by meeting Charley, a 29-year-old who believes she is cursed to lose everyone she loves. To combat this, she lives a very rigid and lonely life - until she meets Xander. He invites her to meet his band of diverse race, gender, and sexually oriented friends Terrance, Sunny, Jessica, and Buwan.   Charley is a social misfit, but from the beginning, I was cheering her on. Her rigid schedule and self-harm made me want to wrap my arms around her and help her see it was going to be okay - when I wasn't stamping my feet because she was being ridiculous! Of course, I felt the same way about each of the friends. At times, they seemed to have their heads on straight - at others? Not so much. And isn't that just like me, you, and everyone we know?   SM doesn't hold back. She brings in social components of our time including race and sexual orientation, but also mental health issues and green initiatives. With characters all along each of these spectrums, we are given the opportunity to see these topics from all sides - from those who live them to those who wonder if they really exist. We also get a glimpse into what we might do when we see something that isn't to our liking - and learn that there isn't just one way that is the right way.   This is a wonderful story about friends and what that can look like despite different life experiences. I really enjoyed this book.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author SM Stevens Website: https://authorsmstevens.com/ IG: @s.m.stevens FB: @ AuthorSMStevens TikTok:@author.smstevens   Purchase Beautiful and Terrible Things on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4oDp2UW Ebook: https://amzn.to/4ovRRSW   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is DJ Quinn, author of the book Stick Figures. Dennis ‘DJ’ Quinn is a three-time Big Brother / Big Sisters volunteer and assists with mentor programs in the Pierce County WA Juvenile Court system. His honest and humorous writing style came to life during his editing and writing jobs for airline labor unions, lifestyle magazines, and real estate advertising. The second oldest of nine children raised in Helena, MT, he currently resides in Gig Harbor, WA. He is also the author of Raft Island Treasure Hunters, an adventure tale for young readers.   In her book review Carole O'Neill stated: Stick Figures: A Big Brother Remembers is a memoir by D. J. Quinn. As he navigates between time with his Little Brother and his memories of those years, we unravel a happy, sad, guilty, loving, and grateful man who wishes he could have done more for his Little Brother.   Quinn meets Betty who is the foster mother of his potential Little Brother in the caseworker’s office. The meeting was set up to allow them to get to know each other and discuss the expectations of both. Mike is not the average candidate the organization tries to match. He didn’t start talking until he was four and is in special education. He is an energetic seven-year-old who loves to swim but doesn’t like to go to the mall. Within the first few outings, D.J. quickly discovers he and Mike like to talk about Santa, God, showgirls, and speech therapy.   Above all, he is a gamer. Their time together always ended with a look at the calendar to make plans to meet the next time as they drew stick figures to document the time they just spent together. Mike looked forward to those drawings almost as much as the activities they enjoyed. During that time, they often were joined by D.J.’s partner and his Little Brother, Nate. The four of them found swimming off their boat to be one of their favorite pastimes.   During their thirteen-year journey, we follow their intimate true story told with humor and compassion. The twists and turns of their relationship from Mike’s time on the run, to his time in prison, and finally to his final days, we laugh, we cry and we applaud D.J. for taking the interest in a young boy who needed help to grow into a man.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author DJ Quinn Website: https://www.DJQuinnAuthor.com Social media: FB: @DJ Quinn Author IG: @djquinnauthor   Purchase Stick Figures on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/48IkuWk Ebook: https://amzn.to/4aEqyBR   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors?
