Episode 27Album: O Brother, Where Art Thou?Artist: Multi-ArtistCT&OB wanted to try something new and the 3 of us each picked an album, then had you guys pick which you wanted to hear. This album went up against Vince Gill and & Holy Roller; we will be doing those in the near future.CT&OB listened to the soundtrack and watched the movie, well 2/3s of us did. =) The movie is a loose interpretation of the Odyssey by the Coen Brothers. O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a Depression-era adventure about three escaped convicts traveling across Mississippi in search of hidden treasure. The Coen Brothers created this movie loosely inspired by Homer’s Odyssey. We recommend you watching the movie when you get a chance. The O Brother, Where Art Thou? Soundtrack is a mix of bluegrass, gospel, and blues that helps capture the Depression-era feel. This soundtrack has many notable artists that include Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, and of course the Soggy Bottom Boys. These artists helped the soundtrack win many awards from Grammy, CMA, ACM, and international awards. Let us know your favorite song in the comments.GO SUPPORT THE ARTIST ON THIS ALBUM!!!Buy the merch, go see the show and listen to their music!!!
Episode 24Album: Eleven WinnersArtist: Merle Haggard and The Strangers Special Guest: Tyler-James KellyCT&OB was in Nashville for our Very Good Friend Danielle's Birthday. We got to see a bunch of our great friends, see some Amazing artists but also talk with a few artists on our podcast.CT&OB met up with Tyler-James Kelly after a long night of celebrating our friend Danielle’s “30th” Birthday. Tyler picked the album Eleven Winners by Merle Haggard. We joked that Tyler picked this album because of him being an old soul but honestly this was a great album! We've talked about how the album has songs that have pain and the characters in the songs were not "winners". Tyler told us stories about about Merle that CT&OBs didn't know. We had such a great time with Tyler and hearing him pay that weekend. We cant wait to see Tyler play again and get him on for another episode. The album itself is 33min with 15 songs, we promise it makes sense with the way we talk about the album in the episode. Episode 24Album: Red Headed StrangerArtist: Willie Nelson Special Guest: The WaymoresCT&OB was in Nashville for our Very Good Friend Danielle's Birthday. We got to see a bunch of our great friends, see some Amazing artists but also talk with a few artists on our podcast.CT&OB met up with The Waymores after a long night of celebrating our friend Danielle’s “30th” Birthday. Kira and Willie talked about an album that has a special meaning to them, Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson. We loved that they had so much to tell us about this album and also Willie Nelson history. Although we couldn’t go song for song like we normally do for an episode, we had such great conversation and very better time being with Kira and Willie. Don’t worry we are already talking about another episode with these guys! If you get a chance to see this two, make sure you tip them to hear their jingle for tips! Episode 23Album: Blue Sky SundaysArtist: JD ClaytonCT&OB loves when we get a "1st time" when recording. In this "1st time" we had an artist request us to do their newest album. JD Clayton reached out to us after we did an episode covering his album "Long Way From Home". CT&OB was excited to hear that JD listened to our episode and WANTED us to do another! When we started CT&OB, we made a rule to not do records under a year because we didn't want it to sound like a review, but once we talked we agreed to do an episode about "Blue Sky Sundays" (*because rules are meant to be broken*). CT&OB had a fun doing this episode, especially since we recently did 2 of JD's albums closer together. This record is very 'down home sounding', you can turn this record on and see the stories unfold. The sounds, the lyrics and over all composition of the album brings you back home and to a relaxing time. JD we hope to get up to Chicago and get on an episode soon!GO SUPPORT THIS ARTIST!!! You'll hear Tucker barking and the clock chiming *insert face palm emoji* In this episode we talked about JD's album, Long Way From Home, which we felt was his record that reflects the American Dream- following your dreams even when struggles and hard times come your way. This album is a great mix of honky tonk, British psychedelia, and country. JD is influenced by Creedence Clearwater Revival and his Arkansas Roots. Episode 14 Album: In The Throes Artist: John Moreland CB&OT met up after the Bears vs Packers game to talk about John Moorland. Nick was not happy after that game but Samy and Dani were very happy. BUT we digress and back to the record… We dove deep into this record, realized how dark and personal the music and lyrics could be and we surprised each other on the different ways we interpreted this record. We all agreed we need to take a listen again to this album due to the different views of the songs. This past weekend we traveled to Tulsa, got to see John Moreland at the Mercury and had a great time.  Take the trip to Tulsa! GO SUPPORT THIS ARTIST!!!
