Whether you're dreaming of fuller yoga classes, stronger connections with your students, or simply showing up with more confidence and authenticity, developing your leadership skills is a key factor in your success.
As my pastor says, "When the leader gets better, everyone gets better."
In this episode we’ll discuss the power of leadership and how it leaks into every aspect of your teaching (good or bad). Whether you're leading your students as a solo teacher or you have a team with staff or other instructors (and anywhere in between), these principles can transform how you show up both on and off the mat.
We'll cover 5 crucial leadership principles for yoga teachers, as well as go through some reflective questions to help you assess where you are as a leader and identify areas for growth.
So grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair, grab a journal if you want to take notes, and let's have an honest conversation about developing your leadership.

Do you struggle with perfectionism?
Maybe you've been holding back on launching a new class, retreat, or other offering because you want everything to be "just right" before you start.
Or maybe you have a decision to make, and you’re stalling because you don’t have enough information yet.
Or maybe it’s something else!
Either way, perfectionism can pop up in many areas of life and slow or stop our forward progress.
In this episode we discuss the perfectionism spectrum and how it might be preventing you from taking the action needed to grow your yoga business.
We’ll share some practical strategies to help you build your "good enough tolerance" and take action, even when you don't have it all figured out.
Delayed obedience is disobedience. If God is calling you to take that next step, but you're waiting for perfect clarity or circumstances, you might be missing out on what God has for you!
So grab a cup of coffee (or other tasty beverage), pull up a chair, and let's chat about how to break free from perfectionism and start taking action in your yoga business.

Are you a yoga teacher who's tired of setting goals you never reach? In this episode we're sharing our proven system for creating real, lasting change in your life and business.
This isn't your typical "New Year, New You" approach - it's a practical, faith-centered framework that actually works.
We’ll walk you through these 5-steps to help you identify what you’d like to focus on, and come up with an easy to follow plan to see growth in your life and yoga business.
1). Take An Honest Assessment: Rate different areas of your life/business from 1-10 (both personal and professional categories) without shame or judgment
2). Identify Focus Areas: Highlight your three lowest scores or areas you most want to improve (one each for personal and business)
3). Build Your Support System: Answer "Who do I need in my corner?" to help you grow in these areas
4). Define Daily Actions: Determine what specific actions, when done consistently, will lead to growth in your focus areas (making them small and measurable)
5). Take Your Next Step: Identify one immediate, concrete action you can take for each focus area (not the whole staircase, just the first step)
Whether you're looking to grow your classes, increase your income, or find more joy in your life or teaching, this episode will give you the tools you need to move forward with confidence.
So grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair, and let's chat about turning your dreams into reality.

Are you feeling stuck in life or business as a yoga or fitness instructor and wondering if it’s time for a change?
Like what you’re doing just isn’t working anymore?
In today’s episode we are talking about pivoting.
We’ll discuss how to recognize when it’s time for a pivot and what steps to take to realign with your purpose.
We know all too well the fear and uncertainty that often goes along with making changes in your life or business.
We’ve been through this multiple times (both individually and together as business partners) and have walked through it with coaching clients.
Nick and I share a lot of our own real-life experiences and give you a framework to walk through as you process your next moves.
Friend, I’ve been in this very place myself many times throughout my yoga teaching journey (and I’m currently going through another pivot in real time, which is what prompted this episode…which was a pivot as well, because we were originally going to talk about something else!), and I get how scary it can be.
Whether or not you’re currently facing a pivot yourself, our prayer is that this episode equips and empowers you to make a decision and helps you fast forward through some of the process (and avoid some mistakes).
So grab a cup of coffee or other tasty beverage, pull up a chair, and let's chat about pivoting.
TIMESTAMPS:
03:54 Pivoting is a normal part of business
05:35 Why is pivoting so hard?
25:50 1. Seek God
29:25 2. Seek wise counsel
36:00 3. Assess where you're at
44:29 4. Talk to your team
54:23 5. Talk to your students (maybe)
1:01:22 6. How to communicate the changes
1:12:15 7. Trust the process
1:15:43 What's no longer working?
1:20:33 What part of ME is the problem?
1:35:57 Are there smaller tweaks I could make?
1:39:28 Closing thoughts

If you’ve been alive for more than 5 minutes, chances are good you’ve experienced grief.
Chances are also good that if you haven’t already, you’ll go through seasons of loss and grief as a leader in the yoga or fitness industry.
In this episode we are going to talk about being in the valley of grief and how we can continue to lead through it and find healing.
I hope these words find you exactly where they need to. I prayed before this episode, “God, whoever needs to hear these words, would you just give it to them?! Because they've been in my head, in my notes, and all the things for the last couple of months.”
We’re going to discuss 4 things you can do to help you grieve and heal.
So if that’s you, I hope this helps you feel less alone during this challenging season and gives you a spark of hope.
Grab a cup of coffee (or other tasty beverage), pull up a chair, and allow God to use this episode to shine a light in the middle of your darkness.

Do you have a mentor?
I do, and I’m so thankful for the impacts they've made in my life and business.
In this episode we're going to talk about what it looks like when we feel ourselves needing a change and how to get the right people/voices in our lives to help us make those changes.
I’m so excited to share today’s episode with you where I speak to one of my GREATEST mentors, Sarah Hall. Everything you see and everything I do today has her fingerprints all over it because she has literally held my hand for all of my baby steps along the way.
Sarah has been a yoga instructor for 19+ years, and was offering Christ-focused yoga before it was popular. She is also a licensed therapist, a mom of four, a wife, and a devoted follower of Jesus.
My prayer is that you will be encouraged to find a great mentor for yourself and experience the same confidence and growth in your life and business!

In this episode we're going to cover 22 ways that you can GUARANTEE that you're going to burn out and burn out fast, and hopefully stay burned out for as long as possible.
Wait, what??
Why would we do this?
There’s a helpful concept called inverted thinking that can help you get what you want (or avoid something you don’t want) by looking at what you would do if you wanted to guarantee that you wouldn’t get (or avoid) the thing.
So that's what we're going to do in this episode today.
Then at the end we’ll flip it and talk about what you should or shouldn’t do in order to avoid burnout (or get out if you find yourself there).
So grab a cup of coffee (or other tasty beverage), pull up a chair, and let's chat.

We all want to make more money, and it’s good to focus on strategies and tactics to increase your revenue.
Something that’s often overlooked, however, is to implement some strategies to lower your taxes, keeping more of the money you make.
Taxes are inevitable, but there are legal (and non-risky) ways to reduce your taxable income.
In this episode Nick discusses tax strategies with his professional tax advisor, Sherry Aland, revealing some lesser known tax strategies that YOU can implement as a yoga teacher.
So grab a cup of coffee (or other tasty beverage), pull up a chair, and let's talk about saving money by lowering your tax bill.

Do you need an LLC as a yoga teacher?
We hear a variation of this question a lot, and in this episode we’re going to discuss this and a couple other common yoga business questions (like how to pay yourself).
We know that the business side of things (especially legal and tax topics) isn’t super exciting to talk about and it can get really confusing really fast. But doing things incorrectly can set you up for trouble down the road, so this is really important.

Are you ready to start building your team, but you’re not sure how to go about it?
Or maybe you’ve already started building your team, but could use some help with developing and leading them?
This episode is for you!
This is actually part 2 of a conversation we've started on teambuilding. In part 1 (episode 16) we discussed how to know when it’s time to start bringing people into your business to help with things. If you missed that, go check that out!
In part 2 we’re discussing more of the practical side of teambuilding: Where to find people, what it looks like to develop your team, identify their strengths, and place them in the proper places that help your business grow, thrive, and to help you avoid getting burned out!
So if that sounds like something you are interested in, grab your cup of coffee (or other tasty beverage), pull up a chair, and let's have a chat about building your team.
