In ancient days, the humans on earth never had food or even have an idea of what food is. They were living without food and even water. They do not have the concept of food and water. Although Trees, waters and all other natural bodies are on earth with them but they do not know what to do with them than the little things they are doing which is to take care of the Earth as joyful activities. One-day, they come together and query themselves; We are tired of this life, are you not everyone? We need something that would let us not get tired of the earth, something to make our living on earth more enjoyable and worth living the more. They all agreed to go and talk to Olódùmare about their situation in one voice. Olódùmarè, we need something that would not let us get tired of living on earth easily. We need something that would make this place suitable for us. Olódùmarè sent Ogun, go and answer to this people, handle their enquires and sort it for them. When Ogun arrived on earth, he summoned all of them and ask them, humans, what do you want? They answered, we want something that would make this planet earth more enjoyable. Like i said, there were trees and vegetations on earth then, Ogun cut down trees for humans and introduce tree sticks to them in form of chewing sticks, told them to be eating tree. Humans started eating trees for a long time and at a point they got tired of it again, it never quench their hunger and satisfaction. They all went back to Olódùmare in one voice, Olódùmarè we are not satisfied, the tree provided by Ogun did not satisfy us. Olódùmarè again sent Ọbàtálá Oseremagbo, go and respond to the humans on Earth. When Ọbàtálá arrived, they were happy, greeted him and he asked them, what do you want? They replied, we want something that will not let us get tired of this planet earth. There was water on earth then but humans do not know it's usefulness, they never drink nor use it for anything. Ọbàtálá introduce water to them, look at this water, it is for drinking, washing of your bodies and many other things. Start making use of it. That was when human started drinking water, they drank water for decades upon decades and get tired of it. Are we going to be drinking water alone? They went to talk to Olódùmare again, Please we are still not satisfied, the water Obatalá gave us is tiring. It never satisfied us. We need something else. Welcome to another enlightening episode of the Light of Ifá Podcast. Today, we delve into the profound wisdom embedded in our sacred traditions, focusing on the power of a pure heart as illustrated through the casting of Obi. In the realm of Ifá, the casting of Obi is a sacred act that reflects the heart's purity and intentions. It is said: "Slanders break and cast Obi, It comes up negative. Traitors break and cast Obi, It comes out negative. It was only one with pure hearts that cast Obi and it comes out positive. Cast Ifá for Ojodu, Initiate of Arira in Ife. Here comes Ojodu, Initiate of Ife. We give thanks for the positivity of the Obi." This powerful verse teaches us that slanderers and traitors, those whose hearts are tainted by negativity, will see their efforts reflected negatively when they cast Obi. However, those with pure hearts, like Ojodu, will see positivity and blessings in their endeavors.

KÓJỌDÁ: The Ancient Yorùbá Calendar. Welcome to the Light of Ifá podcast, today, I delve deep into the rich history of Ifá and Yorùbá spirituality. In this episode, i explore the profound and intricate system of the ancient Yorùbá calendar, known as Kójọdá, meaning "May The Day Be Clear or Foreseen." Join me as we journey through time to understand how the Yorùbá people counted and marked the passage of time by observing the moon and natural signs to guide their agricultural practices and seasonal festivals. Discover the fascinating evolution of the Yorùbá calendar through its various stages, from the primordial divinatory calendar rooted in Yoruba cosmology, farm cycles, seasons, and lunation cycles. I discuss the fundamental concept of the number four in Yoruba beliefs, representing the universe's four corners and forming the basis of the 4-day week known as Orita. Learn how this ancient system defines the social structure, with the chief's house at the center of the family compound symbolizing unity and order. Our exploration will uncover the origins of the 4-day week dedicated to the divinities: - Òsè Ògún (Day 1 for Ògún) - Òsè Sàngó/Jàkúta (Day 2 for Sàngó) - Òsè Obàtálá (Day 3 for Obàtálá) - Òsè Ayó (Day 4 for other Òrìsà, symbolizing joy) I will also explain the structure of the traditional Yoruba calendar, comprising a 4-day week, 28-day month, 13-month year, and two main seasons. This ancient calendar remains a reference for hunters, farmers, traditional worshippers, and the community, emphasizing the importance of the last and first day of the month, Ojó OLOYIN, when communities come together to celebrate and reunite. Tune in to gain a deeper understanding of how this ancient system continues to influence modern Yorùbá society and spirituality. Whether you are a seeker, a scholar, or simply curious about Yoruba culture, this episode promises to enrich your knowledge and appreciation of this timeless tradition.

Welcome to today's podcast episode, where we delve into the crucial topic of children and self-esteem. As parents, our instinct may often lead us to want to shield our children from challenges and solve their problems for them out of love and concern. However, what may seem like acts of kindness can inadvertently hinder their development of self-esteem and resilience. It's important for parents to strike a balance between offering support and allowing their children to navigate challenges independently. Overprotecting or doing too much for our children can inadvertently send the message that we don't believe in their abilities or trust them to handle difficulties on their own. Instead, presenting them with opportunities to problem-solve and overcome obstacles can empower them to develop confidence and self-reliance.
