Description
Are you struggling to forgive yourself? Do you hold a grudge against someone who harmed you physically, emotionally, or mentally? Do you find it hard to forgive the adults in your life who were supposed to protect you, but didn’t? Do you hold resentment against a whole class of people because you’ve been discriminated against?
I’VE BEEN THERE. I KNOW.
I’m Dr. Carron Silva, Your Forgiveness Guide. As a woman of faith, I’ve spent the last 30 years seeking healing for sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, and healing from racial discrimination. What I’ve learned is that therapy could only take me so far. I believe that FORGIVENESS IS THE WAY TO INTERIOR FREEDOM, but we cannot do it alone. We need God, and in particular, Jesus, the Divine Physician, with the love of the Holy Spirit, to help us through a process of forgiveness.
On this podcast, I talk about all the things that help you develop a lifelong skill of forgiveness and empower you to forgive yourself, others, and God. As a Certified Wholeness and Catholic Mindset Coach, I help you to navigate emotionally challenging situations, cultivate resilience after trauma, and in a nurturing emotionally safe, empathic, nonjudgmental, confidential coaching relationship.

Friends,
In a culture that often equates success with wealth and possessions, author and former special education teacher and school administrator Rosemary Olender invites us to rethink inheritance altogether. In this episode, we explore how character and forgiveness form a legacy that outlasts money, status, and material goods.
Rosemary shares how forgiveness is not only a personal healing practice, but a formative virtue, one that shapes family culture, strengthens empathy, and influences generations to come. Together, we reflect on how parents and caregivers can model forgiveness in everyday life and intentionally pass on values that endure.

Friends,
Many of us feel skeptical when someone says they’ve heard God or encountered Jesus in a tangible way. And yet, at the core of the human heart is a longing to be seen, known, and loved, especially in painful places.
What happens when God breaks into a life marked by deep childhood trauma?
In this episode, I reflect on how Jesus meets people exactly where they are, not only within the walls of faith or religious practice, but across denominations, belief systems, doubt, and even disbelief. My guest, author Lynn Busby, shares her story of surviving a childhood that could easily be the backdrop of a horror film. At just twelve years old, Lynn experienced a profound encounter with Jesus that revealed Christ as the Divine Physician, bringing healing, safety, and love in the midst of trauma.

This episode includes a personal story involving abortion and emotional trauma. The conversation is approached with care, compassion, and a focus on healing. Please listen at your own pace and tend to your heart as needed.
Friends,
In this episode, I am joined by Brittany Poppe, who vulnerably shares her story of experiencing abortion at age seventeen, the emotional and spiritual aftermath, and the long road toward healing. We speak honestly about trauma, mercy, and the possibility of restoration after profound loss.
This conversation is not about judgment or debate. It is an invitation into compassion, hope, and the healing that becomes possible when trauma meets mercy.
This episode is for anyone carrying silent grief, unresolved trauma, or a longing for mercy after a painful decision. You are not alone—and healing is possible.
In this episode, Brittany Poppe and I explore:
Trauma as a wound of the heart, body, and spirit
How Scripture speaks to the brokenhearted
The often-unspoken emotional impact of abortion
Why abortion can be experienced as trauma, even years later
The role of mercy, forgiveness, and faith in healing
Finding hope and restoration after profound loss
How Brittany now walks with other women on their healing journeys

Friends,
Finding a therapist who truly “gets” you can be challenging, especially if you’ve experienced both painful and healing moments in therapy. In this episode, I’m joined by Clinical Psychologist Dr. Matthew Breuninger to explore what creates safety in the therapist-client relationship, why belonging is essential to healing, and how our relationship with God the Father can shape the therapeutic journey.
We discuss what to look for in a therapist, how to discern when coaching has reached its limits, and the heart behind the KNOWN program, which Dr. Breuninger co-created with Isaac Wicker, a program I’ve personally participated in twice.
This episode is for anyone who has felt unseen in therapy, struggled with trust or belonging, or is seeking deeper healing at the intersection of faith and mental health.

Friends,
In this episode of Forgiveness Is for YOU, my guest, Mandy Horne shares how a medical crisis became the turning point that exposed an abusive relationship, revealed unexpected protection, and opened the door to a new calling in nursing.
While recovering in the ICU, Mandy experienced both betrayal and God's grace through family, friends, strangers, and quiet moments where Christ made His presence known. We talk about how trauma clarifies truth, how forgiveness does not require denial, and how freedom often begins when we listen to what pain is teaching us.
This episode is for anyone who has faced illness, emotional abuse, or family dysfunction and wondered whether healing and purpose were still possible on the other side.

Friends,
In this first episode of Season 3 of Forgiveness Is for YOU, I sit down with my husband, Steve Silva, to reflect on how life’s challenges shape us, stretch us, and invite us into deeper freedom through forgiveness.
After a Christmas retreat spent in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, I share how the Lord has been clarifying the mission of this podcast, my coaching practice, and our new farm as we step into 2026.
Together, we reflect honestly about growth through hardship, and share our vision of inviting people to come and work with us on the farm and walk through a guided forgiveness process with me as their coach.
We also extend a gentle invitation to our listeners to partner with the Forgiveness Is for YOU podcast financially, helping us bring this message of healing, faith, and freedom to a global audience.
If you’re navigating challenges, discerning your next season, or longing for growth rooted in Christ, this conversation is for you.

Friends,
As we bid farewell to 2025 and step into a new year, I revisit another favorite conversation from Season 1: Overcoming Resentment in the Forgiveness Process. The holidays have a way of stirring old wounds and unresolved emotions, and resentment often rises to the surface when we least expect it. As you listen to this episode, consider what it will take to let go in 2026.
In this reflection episode, I explore:
Why resentment often resurfaces during the holidays
How pushing it down actually strengthens unforgiveness
What it looks like to face resentment honestly and gently
Practical steps for moving forward in the forgiveness process
How releasing resentment prepares you to enter 2026 with freedom and clarity
As Season 2 of Forgiveness is for YOU comes to an end, I share my gratitude for each of you who listen, share, support, and pray for this work. This podcast has been a labor of love, and your presence in this community means more than you know.
If this podcast has made a difference in your life, please consider making a year-end financial gift to support production by clicking the Podcast Gift button at www.drcarron.com. Your generosity helps this message of authentic forgiveness reach more hearts in 2026.
May this episode help you release what no longer serves you, and step into the new year with peace, openness, and hope.

Friends,
In this episode of the Holiday Reflection Series, I'm revisiting one of the most-loved episodes from Season 1: What Forgiveness Is Not. The holiday season can stir up old wounds, from family dynamics, absence, grief, to unresolved tension. Many of us feel pressure to “just forgive,” even when our hearts aren’t ready.
This episode offers gentle clarity: a grounded look at what forgiveness does not require, so you can release confusion, relieve pressure, and move toward peace at a pace that honors your healing.
You’ll also hear two heartfelt listener reviews that remind us how powerful this healing journey can be.
If you’d like me to read your review in a future episode, follow the instructions in the show notes and leave one on Apple Podcasts. Your words help this podcast reach more people who need compassion, understanding, and hope.
If you have a story of overcoming adversity, faith and forgiveness, I'd love to connect. I'm lining up guests for 2026, and your story might just be what someone on the other side of the world needs to hear. Just email me at info@drcarron.com to see if we're a good fit. Thank you in advance!

Friends,
This episode is the first of three in a Holiday Mini-Series on Reflection, Healing, and Choice. As we enter the holy days of Christmas and prepare to bid farewell to 2025, I'm revisiting one of the most listened-to episodes of the Forgiveness is for YOU podcast: Self-Forgiveness & Internal Family Systems (IFS).
The holidays often invite reflection, and sometimes a tendency to be hard on ourselves. This conversation offers a gentle reminder to approach every part of yourself with compassion. Through the lens of IFS, I explore:
Why self-forgiveness is foundational to healing
How IFS helps us understand and care for our “internal parts”
The power of small, grace-filled steps toward wholeness
How to meet yourself with patience, kindness, and truth
As you listen, I invite you to slow down, breathe, and offer yourself the same tenderness God offers you. May this episode bring peace and encouragement to your Advent season.
If you have a story to tell about overcoming adversity, returning to faith and forgiveness, I am lining up guests for 2026. Reach out to me at info@drcarron.com. I'd love to see if we're a good fit!

Friends,
In this episode, I’m joined by Rosa Alejandro, founder of The Intentional Christian Woman and a woman whose story beautifully embodies grace, courage, and new beginnings. Rosa shares her journey through what she calls her “prodigal daughter” season, a time marked by stepping away from her faith, experiencing the pain of betrayal, and facing the end of her first marriage.
With honesty and tenderness, Rosa talks about learning to trust again, choosing forgiveness even when it felt impossible, and how God gently led her back to faith and purpose. Today, she helps women return to God with intention, clarity, and hope.
If you’ve ever questioned your faith, struggled with forgiveness, or wondered whether God can rebuild your life after heartbreak, this conversation is for you. It’s a reminder that restoration is always possible — and often begins in the places we least expect.

Friends,
In this episode, my adult daughter, Ashlene Silva Dybus, and I talk about what it was like for her to grow up with me — a mother still learning to heal from the effects of Complex PTSD, and how we’ve both come to see the ways trauma quietly travels through generations.
Together, we explore how awareness, compassion, and forgiveness are helping us reshape our family story, one revelation at a time.
In this episode, we talk about:
How trauma shows up in parent–child relationships
Seeing family patterns with fresh understanding
The impact of unhealed pain on parenting
The power of forgiveness in breaking generational cycles
How generational values impact adult-child-parent relationships
If you’ve ever wondered how to mend the past or make peace with where you come from, this conversation is for you.

Friends,
What happens when the label that once helped you heal begins to hold you back?
In this follow-up to S2E43: Alcohol, the Brain and the Holidays, I continues my conversation with Christie Walker, the Catholic Sobriety Coach, who has been sober for nearly 29 years. What began as a practical talk about staying alcohol-free during the holidays evolved into a deeper reflection on identity, faith, and forgiveness.
We explore the powerful question:
“Do you still identify as a recovering alcoholic after nearly three decades of sobriety?”
The answer opens the door to a heartfelt discussion about how recovery — like trauma healing — transforms not just our habits, but our sense of self. Together, we examine how forgiveness, grace, and spiritual growth help us release old labels and embrace who we’ve become.
In This Episode
The Catholic Sobriety Coach’s honest perspective on long-term recovery and identity
How labels like addict or survivor can help at first — but limit us later
Why forgiveness allows us to release shame and embrace a new self-concept
The role of faith and grace in transforming identity
Parallels between addiction recovery and trauma healing

Friends,
In this powerful episode, we explore an alternative to traditional therapy that may just resonate more deeply than you expected. I’m joined by Adrian and Shae Misiak, graduates of the Catholic Psych Institute’s Mentorship Program — a model that blends psychology and faith in a revolutionary way.
Adrian and Shae share the story of their five-year marriage and their discovery of accompaniment through mentorship. We talk about what mentorship really looks like, how it differs from conventional therapy, and why this model could offer deeper, more sustainable healing for those feeling stuck or disillusioned with traditional paths. Whether you're just beginning your healing journey or you're seeking something more aligned with your faith, this conversation may open a new door for you.

Friends,
Have you ever wondered how to forgive someone when the memory of what they did still feels fresh? In this episode, I explore what it truly means to forgive what you can’t forget.
Drawing from the insightful forgiveness work of the late psychologist Dr. David Stoop and his book Forgiving What You’ll Never Forget, I share personal stories from my own healing journey through trauma, faith, and forgiveness. Together, we’ll unpack why forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting, how to release resentment without denying your pain, and how genuine forgiveness can bring peace even when the memories remain.
Whether you’re navigating betrayal, abuse, or deep personal loss, this conversation offers practical insight and emotional guidance for anyone ready to move from hurt toward healing.
If you’ve struggled to forgive someone who never apologized—or to forgive yourself—this episode is for you.

Friends,
Have you ever noticed an adult regress emotionally when faced with challenges—crying easily, throwing tantrums, or shutting down? These are signs that the wounded inner child is running the show.
In this two-part series, I’m joined by Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Brya Hanan, who shares her personal story of healing childhood trauma through inner child integration and her Catholic faith. Now, as a therapist, she helps others befriend their inner child, release old wounds, and move toward wholeness.
In this episode, you’ll hear:
What it means when the inner child “takes over” in adult life
Brya’s journey of trauma, healing, and integration
How Catholic faith and psychology can work together in therapy
Practical ways to begin befriending your inner child
Why wholeness—not perfection—is the true goal of healing
Whether you’re new to inner child work or seeking a faith-centered approach to trauma recovery, this conversation offers both hope and practical insight.

Friends,
In this episode, I’m joined by my husband, Steve, as we explore the anatomy of a grudge—how it starts, why it lingers, and the cost it demands of us emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
We speak candidly about:
The subtle ways grudges shape our behavior
The role of spiritual dryness in forgiveness
Why unresolved pain often comes from the people closest to us
How grace helps us release what’s been gripping us for too long
🕊️ If you’ve struggled to let go of bitterness, especially toward those in your own family, I invite you to stay with us through the end. You may find the strength to release what’s been holding you back.
