MV YWAM PNG back in Papua New Guinea
The MV YWAM PNG has returned home to Papua New Guinea following a successful maintenance work, marking a major milestone in the vessel’s extension project and ensuring she remains strong, safe, and ready to serve the nation for years to come.
With dry dock and initial maintenance works completed earlier this year, the MV YWAM PNG is sailed back to Western Province for its final outreach of the year, the first since returning to service. The outreach supported the Provincial Health Authority to provide a full range of essential health mainly to remote and disadvantaged communities, and training services with a particular focus on maternal and child health, disease prevention, and community health education, delivered in close collaboration with local health professionals. Volunteers from 13 different nations joined the ship this week for the outreach.
Since 2010, YWAM Medical Ships – Australia and PNG has partnered with the National Department of Health and provincial health authorities, delivering over 2.3 million of healthcare and training services and providing hands-on training opportunities for Papua New Guinean health workers. The ship’s return home marks a renewed season of service, partnership, and hope for the decade ahead.
You can find out more about the work that the MV YWAM PNG is doing on the YWAM Ships Australia web-site, ywamships.org.

Cambodia / Thailand Conflict Relief Work
The border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand continues, despite international effort to end the conflict.
Earlier this month the number of displaced civilians on the Cambodian side of the boarder was reported as at least 400,000 civilians, and the Thai side at more than 258,000 people.
On the Cambodian side of the border, Youth With A Mission (YWAM), has brought relief with much-needed supplies for the displaced civilians – such as rice, eggs, and mosquito nets.
A volunteer from Singapore, Heather Lim, reported: “We just want to help them (the displaced), support them and stand with them. Just our presence being here and just being with the people, being able to listen to them and talk to them, that’s the difference that we can make,”.
YWAM also has volunteers in Thailand who are helping similarly affected people on that side of the border. All lives are “precious”, so “we need to be kind and compassionate to help everyone,” she added. (source)
Please pray for the families who are displaced living in harsh conditions. Pray this battle will end. The trauma is so deep including the children.

Tai Po Fires in Hong Kong
Last month when Lidia and I were putting together the news, reports of the fires in Tai Po had just started to filter in. We were unable to report on it last month, but since then it’s confirmed that the fire raged for 43 hours, with 161 people dying, and about 80 people injured. The YWAM location in Hong Kong is only about 30-minutes away, and they have been active in providing relief after the fires.
YWAM Tuen Mun is providing essential items to those in shelters in the Tai Po community. They delivered the bags filled with necessities, festive food, and special bags for the children to the hotels where families are temporarily staying.
They are making plans to help provide an “incredible” Christmas for the incredible community from TaiPo.

YWAM Lyon 10,000 Bible Distributions
Since 2010, YWAM Lyon has been active sharing true light with Lyonnais and tourists during the Festival of Lights in Lyon by offering them the Bible!
This year, 20205, they gave away 10,000 Bibles: a big challenge that they met! They are convinced of the necessity and urgency of offering the word of God in their country more than ever. Every year they see the spiritual needs of the new generation who have often received no religious education and are searching. This year, they will exceed the mark of 70,000 Bibles offered since the 2010, they they launched the Bible distribution project for the Festival of Lights! This year again, together, we will share the true light with thousands of people from all over France.

Pray for Sri Lanka
Earlier this month we received this message from YWAM Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is facing a very difficult moment right now. Heavy rains have caused severe flooding and landslides, especially in the central and western regions. Many families have lost their loved ones, homes, and everything they owned. Many are still missing, and thousands are suffering without food, shelter, and basic needs.
In this painful time, I invite you to stand with Sri Lanka in prayer and support.
How You Can Pray:
Pray for comfort and strength for families who lost loved ones.
Pray for the safety of those still missing and those trapped by floods and landslides.
Pray for protection over rescue teams and volunteers.
Pray for quick recovery, resources, and relief for the affected areas.
Pray for God’s peace, mercy, and healing over the nation.
Let us lift our voices together and pray for Sri Lanka.
You can follow what’s happening in Sri Lanka over on their Facebook Page.

YWAM Asheville
Now we will look at a story from YWAM Asheville, in North Carolina. One year ago YWAM Asheville received a food truck that helped them respond to Hurricane Helene. They shared how food has been a central part of their ministry for more than a decade, and how they continue to serve meals downtown to support the ongoing recovery of the community.
They also give thanks to Operation Blessing for providing the food truck, to everyone who donated toward disaster relief, and to their staff, students, and volunteers who have been part of this work.

YWAM Lusaka Football ministry
Next, we head to YWAM Lusaka, in Zambia for an update on one of their growing ministries that’s making a real impact among local youth. It’s called ‘Inspired for Christ Football Academy’, a soccer-based discipleship program started just last year by a staff member. And in such a short time, the ministry has already become a place of growth, encouragement, and community for many young people in the surrounding neighborhoods.
The Inspired for Christ Academy is serving age groups – under 12, under 15 and under 20. What began as a staff-led initiative has grown into a flourishing ministry that’s helping young people develop character, confidence, and football skills, all grounded in God’s word.

As Jason mentioned in the video, he has also created a Discord server for YWAMers that have an interest in gaming.
He set it up as a place together together to connect, encourage one another, and maybe even dream about how gaming could be used for community and missions.
On the Discord server we can:
🎧 Hang out in voice chats
💡 Dream about how gaming can be used in missions
🙌 Encourage & pray for each other
🎮 Maybe even play casual & competitive game nights?
I’ve already seen some great interactions on the server, and been able to find some other people on there who want to develop games and who stream over on Twitch and YouTube.

Nigeria
If you have been paying attention to social media recently, you probably would have seen some of what is happening in Northern Nigeria. I was hesitant to repeat some of the recent reports about the devastation without confirmation, but some of our YWAM workers have confirmed how horrendous the actions of Boko Haram continue to be in the area.
YWAM has been active in Nigeria for decades, with some amazing stories and testimonies coming out of the teams that have worked there. The film Go Africa is a real and fascinating story of child soldiers in Nigeria coming to Christ, and the healing of widows of Christians who were martyred by Boko Haram terrorists …

When the Go Movie was originally announced the plan was to make it a story about three different experiences that YWAM has had around the world. With everything that is going on in Nigeria, they chose to focus on that nation and ministry, and out of that was birthed the movie, Go Africa. The movie has real stories of survival and redemption in the origins of the YWAM mission in Port Harcourt.

Hurricane Melissa
Yesterday we got an update from our YWAM Location in Montego Bay, Jamaica that they were starting to feel the advance impact of Hurricane Melissa with violent winds, and the sudden loss of electricity to half their campus and city. At the time of the update they did not have heavy rain yet, but if the early winds were a preview, they need our prayers.
The best place at the moment to get updates at the moment, as long as they don’t completely lose power and Internet, is on their Facebook page.
Haiti Update
Also close to the path of the Hurricane, but looking to be outside of the strong winds, is the nation of Haiti, where YWAM has a few different operating locations.
The situation in Haiti has been rough for as long as I’ve been doing this news program, and unfortunately right now they are entering a time when things are getting progressively worse. The team out of YWAM Saint Marc has this update for us, as well as some of what they are doing in their part of Haiti.

Burundi Fire
Unfortunate news from YWAM Burundi, in August their storage containers caught fire. This incident resulted in the loss of a lot of valuable items, school supplies, construction tools and materials, and over 30 sewing machines. This was a big setback as they were 5 weeks away from starting the school season. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
In an amazing example of God’s provision, a month later they received an amazing gift from their partner, World Health and other generous individuals – most of the lost equipment and materials were replaced.
They also received mattresses for their guest house, allowing them to accommodate more missionaries, pastors, youth groups, and new chairs & desks for the school and books for their new library, clothes and a sound system, where they can offer better quality of education and comfortability.

Vanuatu
We have shared before about YWAM Vanuatu and the Teouma Christian Academy school that they are operating outside of Port Vila City, and the significant impact that they are having not only for the students ,but the entire community around the school. Last month they saw some exciting upgrades to their facilities.
At the beginning of the month they finished adding their newest classrooms, which will help to provide quality education for the children of Teouma Valley.
Earlier this year Vanuatu was hit by a massively destructive 7.4 earthquake that caused significant damage and claimed many lives. The YWAM V2Life Centre, where the school is located, in the Teouma Valley was quite isolated after the earthquake due to the bridge into town being damaged, and they also had a lot of their own infrastructure and power systems damaged.
This month the school had a new solar system installed, which will allow them to reopen immediately after disasters like the earthquake earlier this year, or cyclones like hit them in 2023, instead of waiting for the power company to have to come and repair lines and transformers. It means they can provide safe, clean drinking water to the Teouma Valley community, and education for our students straight after major events.

YWAM / JOCUM Marromeu Celebrates the Older People
In the beginning of the month, YWAM Marromeu had a wonderful day celebrating “o dia do Idoso” , the Day of Older people. They started the day at the outdoor square in Nensa where the program included preaching, children from YWAM dancing, theater plays, and other performances. Following the performances, they shared lunch and distributed capulanas and shirts to the elderly at the YWAM base. In all they had almost 300 people attend! (source)
YWAM Juba South Sudan Outreach to Orphanage
Around that same time, YWAM Juba in South Sudan had a wonderful time at the orphanage together with the outreach team and the youth from the Pentecostal Brethren Church Centre. They said that the day was filled with joy – singing songs, playing games, and sharing the story of Jonah.
One of the children said with a big smile: “I feel so happy to receive a gift from the team. It makes me know that I am loved.”
Moments like these are so special. And remind us of God’s care for every child.
As Christmas is coming along, they would love to continue blessing these children. If you’d like to be part of this through prayer or support, you can find their phone number on ywam.org or their facebook page – YWAM Juba, South Sudan.

YWAM Lusaka is grateful for opportunities like this where visiting teams can serve alongside them and bring the love of Jesus to their community. After the team from Japan’s time in Lusaka, they continued their journey to South Africa to carry on with their ministry there.
One of the things that YWAM Lusaka does at their location is to provide a place for local and international teams to serve through community outreach, children’s programs, discipleship, and sharing God’s Word. They find it a realjoy to see lives touched through these partnerships.
If you’d like to know more about what they do or how you or your team can partner with them, visit www.lusaka.ywam.co or reach out to them through their Facebook Page.
Oral Mother Tongue is Changing Bible Translation
Revelation 7:9 gives us a picture of God’s grand plan – that every language would be represented around the throne of Jesus Christ. But, 98% of the world’s languages do not have the full Word of God in their heart language.
Oral Mother Tongue, or OMT, is an initiative to overcome that challenge and translate the full Bible into every language and ignite discipleship movements in every tribe, nation, and peoples …

Marine Reach Mexican Coast and Amazon Outreach
This month more than 1,000 children received corrective lenses during Marine Reach Global’s Mexican coast outreach. Having corrective lenses opens new paths for learning and growth for those who received the lenses.
Helping the blind to see and lives turn to Christ, is one of the goals of Marine Reach Global.
In addition to the work they are doing helping people to see, they are also providing dental care.
Did you know that in some rural parts of the Amazon, the nearest dentist is 3+ days away by boat? M/V Pacific Hope brings dentists within reach to all who need them. They are looking for dentists and dental assistants to serve with the while in Grand Bahama.

40 Years of Niko
My first experience with YWAM was a Niko back in the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Canada. NIKO comes from the Greek and it means, “to subdue, conquer, overcome, or get the victory.”
This year is their 40th year of operations, and they are celebrating!
As we talked about in episode 156 of the YWAM News Show, there have been various celebrations around the world to celebrate 40 years. In that episode I also shared a bit about my personal experience with Niko, and also someone else’s testimony about participating in Niko. It really is a great experience to learn in the classroom of life by “doing” instead of only listening. It will challenge you in your personal walk with God and others, through hands-on experiences.

YWAM St. Vincent and the Grenadines Rebuild Update
About a year ago in July 2024 YWAM St. Vincent and the Grendines was devastated whey Hurricane Beryl pass through the Grenadine Islands and caused significant damage to YWAM SVG and the island of Mayreau.

Stories:
YWAM in Lebanon
When Ben and Shannon Soh first heard the call for their family to serve in Lebanon there was no way that they could anticipate the rocket attacks, bomb blasts, economic crises, and political turmoil that they were entering into.
The Sohs arrived in Beirut in 2021, a year after the YWAM Centre in Beirut was established, and only shortly after a massive explosion had hit Beirut, killing 135 and injuring thousands. In fact, when they arrived, the debris at the YWAM location was still uncleared.
The team in Beirut runs a Discipleship Training School, and a School of Missions in English and Arabic. They will also be pioneering a Bible School and Community Counselling Training School within the next year to equip local and international believers. In addition to the schools, they also participate in a Skate Ministry, and a Soccer Ministry.
In October of last year war broke out in Lebanon after nearly 12 months of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. While the Sohs’ used to look out to the mountains, they now saw a land it by air strikes. Fighter jets hurtled past their apartment building breaking the sound barrier. They had to leave a gap in their windows, of the sonic boom would shatter the glass.
One of the huge bombs dropped to take out a Hezbollah leader was just 10 minutes from where the Sohs lived.
Because of the international makeup of the YWAM Team, finding flights out of Lebanon proved difficult to find after the decision to evacuate was finally made. Since finding a flight was proving to be so difficult, the team left for an ulu (remote) mountain shelter and hour and half drive from the city.
For the next two weeks the group stayed in the mountain shelter by night, but then by day they drove back to the city to help the displaced by working at a food kitchen and distributing aid.
When one entire neighourhood was bombed because one man may have been tied to Hezbollah, the YWAM team took the difficult and possibly dangerous decision to allow others to take shelter at their location. Despite the possible risk, the team took people in and served them food and welcomed them.
One of the people given shelter was an Imam, who was “visibly shaken” after having his whole world fall apart around them. This proved to be an amazing witness as when He asked why would “you Christians” do this for us, they responded by saying “We just felt it was what Jesus would have done”.
With the continued conflict in Lebanon, and with Israel continuing to occupy parts of Southern Lebanon, we are asked to pay for the volatility in the Middle East. This is a message from Ben Soh:
How to pray for the volatile Middle East, by Ben Soh
With a total population today of about 300 million (up from 38 million in 1955), the Middle East is one of the youngest and fastest growing regions of the world. Yet, it is also a region of persistent conflict and political strife as wars in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon and Israel/Palestine in the past two decades have devastated many cities and its people. For many in the Middle East, and particularly in Gaza, life is a daily struggle of survival and against hopelessness.
Here’s how the Church can pray.
Pray for a ceasefire in Gaza
Pray for effective international peacemakers
Pray for those displaced by ware
Pray for the Church and Christians serving in the region.

YWAM Ships Water Tank Delivery
YWAM Ships Aorearoa last month visited Tuvalu in July. Tuvalu is one of the smallest on earth with a landmass of 26 square km, a tiny population of only 11,656, and is one of the most isolated nations on earth.
During their visit they partnered with Engineers Without Borders New Zealand to deliver 126 water tanks to remote communities across the islands of Tuvalu.
During their time in Tuvalu they are also operating medical clinics in partnership with the Tuvaluan Ministry of Health.
Follow their outreach on their Facebook page.
YWAM Ships Kona Outreach in PNG
While the YWAM Koha is in Tuvalu, YWAM Ship’s Koha is outreaching in Papua New Guinea:
During the recent outreach the YWAM Liberty teams visited 6 villages to bring primary medical care, health education, the Jesus Film, and the hope of Jesus!
They were able to see 835 patients! Some pregnant moms got check-ups and an ultrasound at their community!
634 Primary Health Care patients
11 Maternal consults/ultrasounds
90 malaria tests with 27 positives who received treatment right away!
82 physiotherapy consults
108 patients received reading glasses
More than medical care, the team encouraged the communities, engaging 1750 people with community outreach activities. Bringing joy and hope through Bible stories, worship, praying for 250 people, and showing the Jesus Film at Dylup community with 200 attendees.
Dylup is one of the communities where God’s word has flourished in amazing ways! The pastor and his wife are national missionaries from a different area. The church has grown since the YWAM Ships teams started to partner with the local church. It is always a sweet time to visit this village and the people who were impacted by the previous visits. What a blessing to see them growing strong in their faith and walking with Jesus!
You can continue to follow their outreach on their Facebook Page.

Three Days of Meetings for Pacific Islanders
In July Pacific Islanders from Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia came together in Honolulu to gather together for three days to be aligned and unified as family for the next wave of missions from the Pacific into the nations.
They heard powerful stories from islanders about their journey into missions, the culture shock, and the refining process that shaped them. They were reminded: Don’t raise leaders, raise sons. Sons and daughters who know the Father and carry His heart.
They also looked back – honoring the generation who found the pearls hidden in the past. And looked forward – asking God to show what to look for now. Together, Gen Z and the generations before are uniting to advance the Kingdom.
At the end of the three days they closed with the cost of discipleship – not a man-made platform but a God-breathed calling. Jesus doesn’t call the volunteers. He calls disciples.
You can read the stories of this gathering on the YWAM Honolulu’s Facebook Page.
YWAM Samoa Annual Gathering
Also in the Pacific, YWAM Samoa had their annual general meeting. It was a time to reflect on the year that passed, celebrate what God has done, and look forward with faith and unity.

Create International Vision 2033
Create International has been developing media to help spread the Gospel for decades. This year marks some major milestones for them, and the beginning of new vision with this update from them.
After completing the 20/20 Vision—producing over 250 indigenous gospel films for the least evangelized mega people groups (each over one million)—we celebrated a major milestone. God had moved powerfully, bringing the Gospel into the heart languages and cultural expressions of many of the world’s largest unreached peoples. As a result, nearly 75% of all Unreached People now had access to a clear gospel presentation in their own language.
As we rejoiced, we sensed the Great Shepherd’s ongoing burden—25% still had no indigenous gospel film in their mother tongue. In prayer, we heard Him ask, “What about the 25?” We replied, “That’s hundreds more groups… how can we do this, Lord?” His response: “You can’t; but they can.”
In the months that followed, God showed us what He meant. The resources were in the harvest. He was raising up new believers within Unreached Peoples to finish the task. Our role: equip and empower them. “From the Harvest to the Harvest” became our call and passion. From this revelation, Vision 2033 was born.
The year 2033 marks 2,000 years since the Great Commission—a milestone in redemptive history. While the date isn’t our focus, its symbolism reminds us of Christ’s unfinished mandate: to make disciples of all nations and proclaim the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
Vision 2033 is a ten-year strategic initiative uniting our commitment to the Least Evangelized Peoples list with a focus on partnering with emerging movements of believers within Unreached People Groups.
This vision echoes Acts chapter 2, when the Holy Spirit was poured out and people from many nations heard God’s wonders in their own mother tongue. The gospel wasn’t first preached in a trade language but in heart languages—God’s way of showing that every tongue and culture matters to Him. Vision 2033 carries the same conviction: the good news must be communicated in the language of the heart. That’s why we’re committed to producing innovative, indigenous gospel media shaped by each people group’s worldview and voice.
We have a link to their full message in the show notes, ywampodcast.com/158. They talk about some of the significant stories from the past few years, and ways that people could get involved moving forward, include staffing opportunities, training opportunities, and more. Invite for Teams to Costa Rica
YWAM Nicoya in Costa Rica is sending out an invite to YWAM groups, individuals, and other teams to join them at their location.
We invite church, high school, young adults, YWAM and family groups to join us in missions in Costa Rica!
Short-term mission trips are a help, a blessing and an encouragement for our long-term mission work.
Teams that visit us get to join in our regular ministries, seen and learn what missions in this part of the world look like and serve alongside our long-term staff team.
Team members join an intercultural and intergenerational missionary community, have the opportunity to hear the stories and testimonies, make friends with long-term missionaries, students and volunteers, getting a glimpse of life in the mission field.
We’ve seen God transform lives of youth and adults that come on mission trips! Sometimes God has to take you and your people far to speak in a new way to grow your compassion to teach you or to call you. Our prayer is that a mission trip with us would ignite sparks that set whole churches and communities on fire for God and global missions.

Pope Francis Passing
Pope Francis died on Monday at the age of 88 after 12 years as head of the Roman Catholic Church.
Pastor Alejandro Rodríguez, president of Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Argentina, referred to Jorge Mario Bergoglio as “a pastor with the smell of sheep,” because he was always among the people and their needs.
Pope Francis had a long relationship with Youth With A Mission. The YWAM director, Alejandro Rodríguez, first met Francis more than 20 years ago, when Francis was called Cardinal Bergoglio and served the church as the archbishop of Buenos Aires. They had a continued friendship from that point, and often prayed together.
In 2014 Loren and Darlene Cunningham had the privilege of meeting Pope Francis while they were in Rome. At the time Pope Francis had taken the unprecedented initiative to distribute Gospels of Mark to everyone in Saint Peter’s Square while proclaiming, “[Let there be] a Bible in every family! A Bible in every family! It mustn’t be hidden, not put on a shelf, but [we should] take it in our hand, to read it often, every day, be it individually or together, husband and wife, parents and children, perhaps in the evening, especially on Sunday. Thus, the family grows, walks, with the light and strength of the Word of God!”.
One of Loren Cunningham’s final legacy messages, and final book before he passed away was to End Bible Poverty. In that we can see a meeting of God’s heart in their meeting.
We can all pray that God’s Hand would guide the Catholic Church in their selection of a new Pope.

5 Island Outreach in Uganda
End Bible Poverty now in Uganda recently concluded their Outreach in 5 Islands on Lake Victoria.

After wrapping up their time in Lake Victoria the team continued for 2 weeks in the Western part of Uganda (Bushenyi) to make known of the good news of Jesus, and to continue distributing Bible.
They ask that we praying in this busy season, that the Lord will help them through to the end of this mission.

David’s Tent Protests
Unfortunately during pro-Palestinian protests in Washington DC in early April the David’s Tent ministry was targeted for protests. Here is a message from them about the incident:
On Saturday April 5th there was Pro-Palestine activist protest against us, specifically for the Israel flag hanging inside of David’s Tent DC.
The protesters group of about 50 people was a spin off of a larger Pro Palestinian protest on Pennsylvania Avenue. Over a dozen police vehicles and about 20 police responded quickly and stood guard, keeping the protest at a perimeter of about 30 feet from the tent. The protesters tried to dispute that. The Park Police held their ground (and our ground) as David’s Tent has a permit for that space for the cause of exalting Jesus and carrying out the planned programming of David’s Tent.
David’s Tent is permitted as a 1st Amendment demonstration for the purpose of a “worship and prayer vigil 24/7 unto Jesus on behalf of America.”
The protesters stood in a line shouting emphatically at the tent things like “Free Palestine” employing more explicit language often to underline their ire. Many of them were donning flags in support of their cause. The protest lasted about 2 hours until they peacefully began to disperse.
This is the first time in the 3,494 day history of David’s Tent that an organized protest has targeted us like this.
As protesters screamed outside the tent, inside the tent the worship team on watch kept right on singing to Jesus in a clear contrast and stark juxtaposition of attitude. After all was over, the tent staff took communion together and plead the blood of Jesus over all. The prayer meeting continued forward another watch! It all turned out to be not much of anything in the end.
We want to thank the Park Police for their incredible response and service. Thank you all for your prayers.
David’s Tent DC is a 24/7/365 musical prayer meeting, exalting Jesus, in the pattern of ancient Israel’s tabernacle of King David.

Stories:
Support for Syria
We have received numerous updates from Syria after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad and replacement by an Islamist regime led by former terrorist leader Ahmed al-Sharaa. Here are some of the reports:
Prayer for Christians in Syria – March 11
Members of Syria’s small Christian community on the coast are living in fear after attacks killed more than 1,000 mostly Alawite civilians, with Christians reportedly caught up in the violence.
The number of deaths reported makes the two days of violence some of the deadliest since Syria’s conflict began 14 years ago.
“Many innocent Christians were also killed” alongside Alawites.
Minority groups, like Christians, have been targeted – and we pray for their safety and stand with all Christians who are vulnerable to persecution.
(source)
The Syrian Army burned a house church in the city of Aleppo. Christian friends from Syria reached out today for prayers and help.
The family — father and three children — are now homeless. The mother died a couple of months ago. The Syrian Army shot the father for distributing Kurdish Bibles. Our team are trying to get him urgent medical care. And relocate the family to another city.

YWAM Belgium Building Fire
We have received this report from YWAM Belgium…
On the 6th of December, a fire broke out in our building in Brussels. We are lucky to say that nobody was injured and that there is only damage to the building. The kitchen fire happened in the top apartment under the roof. The damage is substantial but not impossible to repair. Our fire insurance was in order, so they will reimburse a major part of the repairs that need to be done, but not all, of course.
The two weeks after the fire we had to pay about 12,000 Euros to get the heating and electricity restored and inspected so the bookshop, staff and renters could return to their homes. This is money that came from our account and the insurance is not covering this. We had savings but those are now depleted. Before this incident, the base’s finances were stable and we are able to keep up with the normal running / maintenance costs.
Now, with the attic apartment empty, we realized that the last renovation was done over thirty years ago. In addition to replacing the burnt kitchen, we need to do some upgrades to the building like insulation in the roof, a safer fire escape ladder, and we would like to put solar panels on the roof to bring our costs down.
We want to ask you to consider donating to the solar panels. This would cost 9,000 euros to install. But this would mean for our bookshop a tremendous saving in running costs. Message Media has been running this year for 40 years and has had an incredible impact in the local community and the church community in Belgium. This is a place for Christians to meet, be prayed for and find books that they can’t find in other places. We sell in Dutch, French and English, and we sell Bibles on a daily basis. We’ve estimated that cost of the solar panels would be recuperated by savings to our electricity bill in only four years, and the lower electricity bills will continue to be a blessing to our ministries long-term.
You can find out more about YWAM Belgium, their ministry, and how to donate towards their repairs at ywam.be.

Spiritual Renewal in the Catholic Church
For over 30-years Youth With A Mission has been ministering in and with Catholic groups through the Kerygma Network. Bruce Clewett is one of the pioneers of Kerygma Network and the European Network of Communities, and has been praying and working for spiritual renewal within Roman Catholic groups.
This lead Bruce to be a conduit to and from the evangelical and charismatic worlds with Cardinal Christoph Schönborn in Austia. Bruce has also helped many from his own evangelical background recognise the work of the Holy Spirit among Catholics.
The relationship with Bruce and Cardinal Christoph Schönborn led to the YWAM Discipleship Training School being adapted, which resulted in “Follow Me“, a training course for Catholic young people now operating on five continents and several European countries including Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy. Follow Me! is a training programme designed to
Assist young Catholics 16 years and older in discovering God’s call on their life
Help them grow in their relationship with Jesus
Equip them with practical tools to aid them in their service as “missionary disciples” in today’s world.

YWAM St. Vincent and the Grenadines’s Huricane Update
Back in September on episode 148 of the YWAM News Show, we shared about the destruction of the YWAM location in St. Vincent and the Grenadine’s by Hurricane Beryl. This then they have received a lot of support in the rebuild, and we have this update from their location.
9 Months.
12 Teams.
143 People.
Hurricane Beryl on July 1st – the day that sent our world into what has felt like unending chaos – feels like a lifetime ago. We have been blown away by the response of those who wanted to come help YWAM SVG & the Community of Mayreau – our family, friends, churches and so many people who had never even met us. Both of our churches sent teams filled with friends, folks from our Missionary Support Team and family …
Our family has felt so loved through the actions of all 143 people who came on a team in these past 9 months. This isn’t even counting the other volunteers we didn’t personally bring to Mayreau but who came wanting to partner with us. Not to mention the messages, phone calls, emails, prayers, donations, finances and support from countless others. We are so thankful. We have been so blessed.
The Lord has done beautiful things in the hearts of so many of these folks. He has met us all here on Mayreau in a new way in this rebuilding and relief season. While we are so grateful, we are also thankful these 9 months have come to an end. We are exhausted. We need to process. We need to breathe. We need to spend time together as a family. We desire to get our personal home back together. Please keep us in your prayers as we now take some time to rest and do those things mentioned above.
The Lord is GOOD in all things.
The glory is His.

Vanuatu Earthquake Special Appeal
We have shared a few stories with you since Vanuatu has hit by a 7.3 magnitude earthquake in December. Earlier this month unfortunately Vanuatu was impacted by another earthquake that compounded the damage done back in December.
Over 50 community (village) water tanks have been damaged due to earth movement and landslides, leaving thousands of families without access to clean drinking water and increasing the risk of waterborne diseases.
Australian Mercy is working with Pasifik Village Development to restore essential water supply and rebuild hope in the villages. When they inspected the villages that they have served over the years they found that most water supplies have been compromised. To serve the villages they will be working in three ways.
Provide emergency water supplies
Support community-led water restoration efforts
Repair or replace earthquake damaged water tanks.
The earthquake caused significant damage to the roads and access to the villages, so a reliable 4WD vehicle to deliver water, teams and tank repair supplies into the outlying villages is the most significant tangible need right now. The dry season is less than six-months away, so the need is urgent.
If you head over to australianmercy.org you can find out how you can give towards the purchase of a second hand 4×4 vehicle, and towards the 50 water tank repairs that are needed.

Business as Mission
If you have ever wanted to know more about Business as Mission, YWAM Nelson is putting on a 5-day Seminar exploring the role of business in missions and its biblical foundation.
The teaching will cover what Business as Mission is and is not. What strategic role does it play in missions today, especially amongst the least reached? How is it being used in YWAM? What are some historical examples of BAM and what can be learned from them? What are some BAM best practices? They will also contrast aid-based development vs Business based development. At the end of the seminar, students will gain a better understanding of the BAM movement and its strategic role in world missions.
The seminar will be running from 7 – 11 April, and you head to ywamnelson.co.nz to find out more.

YWAM Ships Switzerland Arrives in Madagascar
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_4o3MQb4nA
Three years ago YWAM Ships Switzerland purchased The Island Reach, an ex navy tender, and began the renovations of the ship. On September 29 the ship refit was complete and they set sail from Conwy, Wales, bound for Antsiranana, Madagascar.
I received an update from YWAM Ships Switzerland about the arrival, and it included this statement.
Our trust and faith in the Lord has grown immeasurably during the transit. Time after time we saw God in the large and in the small details. While in Malta for example we met the son of the first ever captain of our little ship when she was commissioned by the British navy. We welcomed him on board and called his dad to tell him the news of her future mission. During the sail we gave thanks for the news that Island Reach would receive an exemption from import taxes in Madagascar from the government, and of their intention to work with us towards reaching the nation. Stories of missiles and pirates would take far too long to tell, but grab the ear of one of the crew and put up your feet for the afternoon – the sharing is rich and Gods grace evident.
With much joy and celebration Island Reach arrived safely on December 2nd and after a period of transition was handed over to her new crew. The re-flagging and registering of the vessel are underway as well as the planning for her first mission after the hurricane season.
Thank you everyone, for each and every part you played in this project. Words alone cannot capture and communicate the gratitude, the wonder and the joy of being able to deliver Island Reach for CHRISTMAS.

YWAM Lyon Outreach
YWAM Lyon has again this year started engaging in evangelism around Lyon. They had a great afternoon at Place Bellecourwith about a dozen of them, set out in small groups of two, equipped with the Gospels and the New Testaments, to go meet people. They had some great conversations and they prayed for God to guide them to the right people, those who are seeking and open to dialogue, and He answered, with the groups having many great meetings.
They had some amazing contacts during the evangelism, especially with young people: some vaguely believers, some agnostic, and even with young Muslims. They had an opportunity to share the gospel, give some truly inspiring words of knowledge that touched hearts, prayed for most of them, and offer the New Testaments. (source)

The aim was to bring the WEF audience and local people into contact with Christian messages through discussions, worship & prayer and street events.

David’s Tent Continued Prayer
With a new administration coming into power in the United States, David’s Tent continues their prayers, and released this statement regarding the change.
Yesterday, many were celebrating, others were grieving, as a new administration came to power. At David’s Tent, we transitioned our prayers “for kings and those in high position” from one administration to the next. Beyond that, we didn’t make a huge deal about the inauguration at the tent itself. The tent and all our platforms are meant to be consecrated space for vertical worship to Jesus. This isn’t meant to be dishonoring or unappreciative of those walking out their calling in the government sphere. It all comes back to Jesus for this particular intercessory ministry. When we are on watch, we purposely fix our eyes of worship directly on Jesus. It’s all about His Presence that we are seeking. We seek to minister directly to Him, giving hospitality to the Holy Spirit. This position has come with the faith that we will see God moving in the leadership of our nation if we hold steadfast to the posture that Jesus is THE KING and we seek first His Kingdom and His rule and reign. “No king but King Jesus!” Our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Blood and Righteousness. So we praise Jesus another day. We let not our guards down, but keep praying with persistence, appealing to Jesus for the Salvation of our country, so we can give Him thanks and praise. (1 Chron 16:35). We want more breakthrough than anyone could imagine. May America worship Jesus, the worthy One.

Vanuatu Earthquake
On December 17 Port Vila in Vanuatu was hit by a destructive earthquake. It affected some of YWAM’s centres there, and we have this report from our V2 Life location …
Hello Everyone,
As many of you would have heard by now, yesterday, Port Vila was hit by a shallow and therefore massively destructive 7.4 (or so) earthquake. Landslides and collapsed buldings have claimed lives. Hundreds have been injured. Critical infrastructure like water, electricity, phone networks and internet, but also roads and especially bridges are completely down or at least strongly compromised. One of our staff families is currently overseas and fine, our other staff family is well and staying on site. Our Australian volunteer family for the school is also safe staying off site. We have not been able to contact all of our local teachers yet. We have heard from most of our other YWAM staff that they are okay.
We appreciate everyone’s prayers for our YWAM community and for the people of Vanuatu. Pray for search and rescue to be guided to survivors still in the rubble. Pray for families that have lost loved ones or have loved ones injured at the hospital. Pray for the government. Pray for the children especially, as many of them suffer from accute PTSD since yesterday with ongoing aftershocks every hour since the initial violent tremor.
As our centre is outside town and the road to town leads over a bridge which has been damaged, we will stay out here for now unless there is an emergency. We are fortunate enough to be set up to live off grid, and therefore have clean water (although some parts are badly damaged), food, solar power (although some elements of the system are also badly damaged) and we have Starlink to connect to the internet. Our buildings seem to be structurally okay upon first inspection but more detailed assessments will have to be done. There is a lot of interior damage and breakage and a huge mess to clean up in just about every room of the centre.
As our community here in the valley has suffered little obvious damage, it will take some time until we can identify ways we can help those in need. Clean water might be one of the ways.
In terms of costly damage, we can already tell that our solar battery bank will need to be replaced as several positive and negative terminals connecting the individual cells have been torn out completely. There is also extensive damage to our water infrastructure such as tower, tanks, guttering, pipes, which will need repairs and parts. In addition there might be IT equipment and other office equipment that needs replacing.
If you want to help us recover from this natural disaster, you can do so by making a donation at https://v2life.org/donations/ . Choose “V2 LIFE” as the donation option or the Australian/USA tax deductible link at the top of the page.

YWAM Saint Marc, Haiti Update
We have had an incredibly busy week! We had our soccer tournament championship- which we won!! We had buckets of Joy where over 200 kids got to take home food for their families. One of the pictures is 3 ladies holding up a bag of food and an envelope. We asked our staff and security who stays to wait for their children to make sure they get home safe after kids church and we were told that these 3 ladies wait every single week consistently. In our meetings with the parents we always share that love and care and security starts in the home. We were able to bless them each with an extra bag of food and some money to help with Christmas. We encouraged them to keep holding their kids close and making the sacrifices so they know they are safe and cared for. It was such a blessing for us to see! We also had our Radikal youth group graduation! We had 67 youth graduate and we are so proud of them. Now, today we have Christmas meals being prepared for 3500+ people and tonight we have a final championship soccer game before some much needed rest! Merry Christmas everyone!!

YWAM in Lebanon
Christianity Today recently published an article about the war in Lebanon that included an interview with one of our teams who is serving there …
Daniel Suter, a missionary from Switzerland, encounters both sides. His Lebanese friends blame Israel for every bad thing that happens; his friends in the West reflexively support everything Israel does. But with tears in his eyes, he said that 2,350 Lebanese had died since the war began, some of whom were relatives of his close friends.
“It breaks my heart,” Suter said. “This is the country we love. It hurts.”
The Youth With A Mission (YWAM) building he served in—until the roads became too dangerous for the 30-minute drive from his home—displays a sign proclaiming Jesus in English and Arabic, with a picture of a cross and a heart in between. It is located in Damour, a Christian village on the coastal highway from Beirut to Sidon, yet every route he could use to get there has been bombed.
Damour was the site of an infamous massacre by Palestinians during the Lebanese civil war. The next village over is still home to some Palestinian refugees, and few Christians will ever set foot there, Suter said. Syrian migrants work the banana groves that stretch from the road to the seashore, resented for receiving aid from international agencies that is less forthcoming for disadvantaged citizens.
YWAM’s community center somehow brings everyone together.
When the war in Gaza began, the YWAM Lebanese leader asked Suter, Is this where God called you? If so, stay. Another foreign missionary left abruptly, citing the mental health of his children. Don’t Lebanese have kids, too? one staffer retorted. The challenging conversations strengthened Suter’s commitment, and he said his local friends were “chill.” They had lived through war before.
After a visit back to Switzerland in the summer to visit their sending church, the family returned back to Lebanon on September 23.
… as they waited at the airport gate on September 23, they received reports that the widespread Israeli bombing had begun. Hundreds of thousands of Lebanese were displaced, now also from Tyre, the Bekaa Valley, and the southern suburbs of Beirut. The war was no longer only in the south.
The family moved into guest housing at the Damour center and joined in caring for the 300 people taking shelter at the village school. Their kids worked as hard as the parents, Suter said, learning the impact of war while still sleeping soundly at night. But when school started, they received the local YWAM office’s blessing to return home and shift their service to another center in Burj Hammoud, a Christian neighborhood in the capital city with many Syrian refugees and displaced Shiites.
And in consultation with their church, they adjusted their evacuation trigger. When Israel began its ground invasion of Lebanon on October 1, local analysis suggested they would remain safe in their home in the foothills; however, if Israeli forces headed north toward Beirut, then the Suters would evacuate to Switzerland.
“Now, I am assessing risk; before, I was ignoring it,” said Suter. “You can cowardly leave or cowardly stay. I want to be here for the right reasons, not the thrill of adventure or fear of boredom back home.”
He hopes his story will encourage prayer for Lebanon, perhaps inspiring others to come and serve. Meanwhile, the missionary from Ohio anticipates the arrival of three new teammates who are already preparing to join her. Hamoud wants Gaza’s Palestinians to have their basic right to life restored. Botros wants concerned Christians, instead of just sending funds for emergency aid, to address the root cause of displacement and lobby their governments to end the war.

Family and friends have been notified, and memorial arrangements are underway. When more information becomes available, another update will be made on ywam.org.
Urgent prayer is still needed for the injured, and please continue to pray for everyone involved. Our hearts go out to all those who are impacted.
Donations to help cover emergency expenses can be made at ywamkona.org/donate.
YWAM Asheville Hurricane Recovery:
Hurricane Helene devastated a lot of the South-eastern United States, with thousands of people missing or dead, and some entire communities simply wiped out. YWAM has mobilised to assist with the recovery.
We have multiple reports from YWAM Asheville, including this first person report of when the winds and rain hit the city:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ot8-9nCShOE
Swannanoa is a rural area west of Asheville. Areas like that one across western North Carolina were hit the hardest by Helene’s effects. YWAM Ashville’s staff and students are ministering to people like the woman in the video, sharing the light of Jesus amidst the darkness through serving others, prayer, and conversations.
https://youtube.com/shorts/tWuAEHQOL7g
They are serving the rural areas hit hard by Helene, helping churches acting as distribution centres to people in need and have so far created 1032 buckets of food for distribution, with each bucket feeding a family of 4 for 3 days.
The team is also helping to provide free meals every day to people in downtown Asheville this week.
The teams partnered with Operation Blessing with their work, and continue to help with the recovery in Asheville.

Typhoon Kristine Hits Philippines
YWAM Philippines is putting out a request for prayer and support at this time.
As the typhoon brings challenges to many across the nation, we are called to respond with faith and action. This is an opportunity for us to not only pray but also mobilize relief efforts, send outreach teams, and support those in need. Whether through prayer, practical assistance, or coming alongside local communities, let’s step in where God leads.
Together, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus in this time of need.

Haiti Massacre
“Last week a gang attacked a small town just outside of Saint Marc. The people of this village had been defending themselves and standing their ground against the gang for a while, but they ended up being attacked early Thursday morning. At least 70 people were killed in this devastating masacre. This sent hundreds of people running to Saint Marc for safety. We were so blessed to see the city of Saint Marc come together to help these people and carry their burdens. We were able to do a distribution of clothing, shoes and blankets. We also prepared and delivered food to 200 people. Please pray as this has left everyone scared for what the future holds for our city as well as the villages surrounding Saint Marc.”

YWAM South Sudan, Juba
I had this update sent to me by YWAM South Sudan …
“Yesterday, ywam Juba we were able to gathered with more than 50 pastors and bishop from different churches in heartfelt prayer for our beloved nation, South Sudan. As we united in faith, we lifted up our hopes and dreams for healing, restoration, and peace. Our conversations with God remind us of the strength and resilience of our people, and we trust that our collective prayers will usher in a brighter future. Together, we are committed to standing in the gap for our nation, believing that transformation is possible. Let’s continue to seek divine guidance as we work hand in hand for a prosperous South Sudan.
“As we pray for our nation, we hold on to the words of Philippians 4:6-7: ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.’ May our hopes rise for South Sudan!”
Keep praying for our nation South Sudan and Ywam Juba South Sudan our heart want to see the revival in churches

Outreach into Hellfest!
YWAM Lyon participated in an interesting outreach in June 2024 in Clisson, France, when they joined with Metal Mission at Hell Fest …
Every year, the Metal Mission meets at Clisson for the Festival of Hell, the Hellfest. Many religious institutions have openly attacked this festival, calling it Satanic. However, other Christians heard another call and rather than denouncing and condemning the festival and its festival-goers, the Metal Mission has chosen to proclaim God’s love and to announce the good news.
What interests them is that metalheads can meet Jesus. And that is the main reason why they are here. And bring them the love of Christ, and that they can also taste it through their testimony. The Metal Mission live in the campsite with them, and they come every day see us, meet us, discuss, share with them slices of life. Sometimes they pray for them. Sometimes there are several who have accepted the Lord now, and who are even involved in churches, and even some who are now evangelizing themselves. And that is their greatest reward.

YWAM Island Reach Departing for Madagascar
We have been following the acquisition and refit of the Island Reach, an ex-naval supply ship, with YWAM Ships Switzerland. You can actually read, or listen, to much more about the process in previous episodes of the news show.
The ship is due to travel a distance of 6.834 km after departing on September 30 from Conwy Harbour in North Wales, and should be arriving in Madagascar before Christmas.
A spokesperson from the project stated:
“We will be blessed with a very international crew.
“We believe that the time is right and we are trusting for safety as we go, but to accompany us, you can join the journey in prayer.
“A weekly update (possibly more frequent) will be available with details of our passage for you to participate in the adventure.
“If you would like to be a part of this prayer chain, please let us know by sending an email to info@ywamships.ch
“We are so grateful to the many people who have given time, energy, expertise and finance to the project so far. Without you, we would not be where we are today.
“We have almost all that we need financially.
“There is a small portion of the costs that we still need to see come in, but we trust that this will happen over the next few weeks in order for us to complete the passage.”

YWAM Brisbane Boomerang Teams
I started my time with Youth With A Mission in Australia with a ministry that focused from Reef to Outback. We travelled through much of Queensland, and even into the Northern Territories of Australia, ministering in many small communities. This involved helping local churches, outreach centres, presenting at school, helping locals, and more. I loved it, and absolutely loved the people we met out there.
YWAM Brisbane is continuing this type of ministry with their Boomerang Teams.
YWAM Brisbane’s heart is to partner with outback and coastal communities here in Australia. They want to bring people from all over the world together in our country that we call home and bring hope of Jesus to our nation.
Their aim is to create ministry opportunities for YWAM DTS Outreach Teams and to see these teams have God-filled experiences that brings growth in their journeys with Jesus. They are a bridge that helps international teams like YOU come serve and strengthen the local Australian body of Christ!
Here are some testimonies from people who have been involved in these teams.

YWAM St. Vincent and the Grenadines Destroyed by Hurricane
We have this tragic update from the director of YWAM St. Vincent and the Grenadines after Hurricane Beryl passed through the islands last month …
Ben from Mayreau –
Today was rough, challenging, heartbreaking and so much more. You can prepare to go back to your home, campus and village after a hurricane but the reality was worse than the photos show. It looks like a massive bomb went off.
The landscape is different. The trees are gone. Beautiful pieces Mayreau is known for…just gone. Driving through the village is heartbreaking. Stepping foot on the YWAM campus was a punch in the gut. Walking into our home, seeing all the water still in it and seeing almost all of our belongings destroyed by wind and rain…nothing prepares you for this.
Jes’ 1st home at YWAM, our first home together and now KC & Kelsie’s home is destroyed. The roof of Jes & I’s home is worse than we thought but we still have walls to work with whereas other buildings don’t even have those.
The photos don’t do it justice…it’s devastating. The trauma these beautiful people have been through, there are no words. I was greeted with hugs and some smiles but could feel the hurt and loss. Our police chief Owen Issacs not only lost his home but has been working tirelessly and sacrificially to lead the charge. We cannot thank him enough. The team from WeAre Mayreau Inc, we see your hard work and also cannot thank you enough.
Our Mayreau community is strong and we will rebuild. But we can’t do it alone. We are so thankful for different relief supplies that have come in from neighboring communities and nations, yachties, and more. But this isn’t a short term project. We need more help. We need supplies, we need finances and we need volunteers.
Jes is in PA doing what she can to work with our team and organize supplies to be sent. Once I get back to PA we’ll announce our plans for getting volunteers and small teams down here to help with clean up and rebuilding – keep an eye out for that but if you’re already interested please send Jes a message at 717-201-0430.
Please keep praying.
The Lord is with us, always.
(source)
The destruction in the photos is dramatic, and the rebuilding that will need to be done, massive. You can check their Facebook page for updates, as well as their web-site, ywamsvg.org, and can also to see how you might be able to help, whether finacially, or maybe even with a team to help rebuild. They really do need the help.
YWAM Chico Fires
Last Month the YWAM location in Chico, California was threatened by a massive forest fire. Thankfully, by the grace of God, the location was spared …
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIJwc5pWjyY
Source
Even though the fire did not burn down the hotel, smoke still did a lot of damage. They need help to clean and restore the 100-year hotel, it’s rooms, lobby, and gathering spaces throughout. They also lost critical infrastructure on the property to the fire. There are other building to restore, and plumbing and cabling needed to keep their ministry running.
They also need help with their fire defences. There is still brush and trees that need to be removed that can easily be fuel for another fire.
While dealing with the immediate issues, they are also assessing their long term needs. For YWAM Chico, it may not only be the rebuilding of their hydro-plant, but, may also be as simple as a new paint job, or replacing a refrigerator ruined due to rotting foods and an electrical fault. As they slowly return to normalcy they continue to update the situation through their web-site, ywamchico.org.
There is also a full video interview about the miracle in Chico, and the ministry that they are doing in California, on the show notes at ywampodcast.com/148.

YWAM Les Cayes Facility Update
YWAM Les Cayes does not have access to an electricity grid, and needs to be able supply their own power at all hours. They are setup with a solar system, but that does not provide any power at night. YWAM Les Cayes has a battery setup to provide them with power at night, but they are currently needing to upgrade their system and replace 16 of their batteries, at a cost of $250 each.
In addition to upgrading their electrical system, they are also building a new building with storage facilities, service depot, hospitality area, and classroom.
You can follow their progress, and watch a video about their construction, on their Facebook Page.

Also in Haiti, we have an update from YWAM Saint Marc.
The trade school has been running, despite the unrest still in the country. They are doing training in plumbing, tile setting, sewing, braiding, dread locks, and cooking.
This year the trade school has over 550 students enrolled, in 16 different classes that will be offered throughout the year.
The cost of the school per student is very low ($20 US) for four months of training. This is subsidized through donations towards the running of the trade school.

YWAM An Cuan – Foundations for Christian Peacebuilding
In January we shared with you about the Foundations for Christian Peacebuilding that YWAM An Cuan was running in Northern Ireland in May and November. The report from their May school is …
Our first-ever Foundations for Christian Peacebuilding school has come to a close! What a fantastic 2 weeks of diving deeper into what reconciliation looks like with God, ourselves, and those around us. Together we wrestled with the question, what does the gospel say to the hurt in our world today? How do we find hope for our world through a worldview of peace? Some of the highlights of our time included a trip to Belfast to visit All Nations Belfast, our practical conflict mediation night, visiting Holy Cross Monastery, and learning about our humanity with Aleck Cartwright, the International Dean for YWAM’s University of the Nations. (source)
The dates for the November school has changed from when we originally spoke about it, and is now running from November 10 – 22, and is described as “A 2-week mini-school exploring Peace, Justice, and Reconciliation.

Here is a story from one of the previous courses that they ran:

With the Suez Canal opening back up YWAM Ships Switzerland is no longer considering needing to piggy-back the vessel around the Southern tip of Africa, and instead is planning on transiting the vessel under it’s own power through the Suez Canal, and onto Madagascar, via the Seychelles. YWAM Sunset Country in Ontario, Canada, recently had a team at YWAM Montego Bay in Jamaica. While they were there they worked to support the local ministry with their local work, and also helping with some of the infrastructure at their centre.
Armour Bearer Ministry was developed to support others in the mission field to better equip them to the calling God has for them. For their ministry trip to Jamaica the brought a team of skilled workers to help with a bunch of much needed electrical upgrades and repairs!
This is a huge blessing for the local ministry, and allows the team to fulfil the calling that God has on them.

YWAM South Sudan
Despite all the continued unrest in South Sudan, where ongoing conflict, food insecurity, and poor health outcome continue, YWAM continues to operate different ministries in the region.
The YWAM Outreach Centre Magwi continues to serve the people in Eastern Equatoria. They run Sunday services, do local outreach, and run a children’s ministry.
Last year they also started translating the Bible into the local Lokoya language, which is spoken by the Lokoya people in Central Equatoria and Eastern Equatoria in South Sudan. They have translated the book of Ruth into the Lokoya language, and they have the hope and faith that another book will be translated in the future. Many love the translation and they wish the whole bible would be translated, and this could be a complete light to the Lokoya people. (source)

Island Reach Deployment Delayed
We have been following the overall of the newest YWAM ship the Island Reach since December 2021 when it was first purchased. The ship’s overhall is complete, with the accommodation and medical facilities being complete, as well as all mechanical and electrical updates done.
Unfortunately, with the unrest happening in the Middle East, the costs to deliver the vessel to Madagascar has increased drastically. The ship will now have to piggyback on a much larger ship to go to Durban, South Africa, and then sail to Madagascar from there.
It is estimated that another £200,000 is needed before it can set sail. You can find out more about how to donate and get involved on the YWAM Ships Switzerland web-site, ywamships.ch.
Update!
The information published about the newest YWAM ship is not current information – and it’s not information that a decision by the board of executives for YWAM ships. As a board we are in a prayerful process deciding on transport and delivery of the vessel. This week the Ares Sea route has opened and we are investigating a departure in these next couple months.
Piggy-backing the vessel was something we looked into. But for now this stayed and option and we are trusting the Lord for safe passage this summer.
