留言告訴我你對這一集的想法： https://open.firstory.me/user/ckrvdk6whg2rj08931q1t5fpe/comments 大家好，歡迎大家來收聽English Angel 在師大! 我是Angela老師! 這一季我們來學習正面的英文常用語，當你把英文正面用語融入你的學習中，你就能得到意想不到的好處。我們一起來用英語提升心情、建立信心、減低壓力、表達感恩心並且增強動力，讓學英文為自己帶來幸福與歡樂。 第一集我們挑幾個祝福大家幸運Good luck的用語，要祝福別人，我們要認識一些常用的字彙，像是幸運(luck)、正面氣氛 (good vibes)、運氣(fortune) 、祝你好運(break a leg)。 (一) 用luck 來表示祝福 我們可以用luck 在一般日常生活的場合， 有人要參加考試，要面試、或是要開始一個新案子，或是展開人生的不同里程，或是要進行手術都可以用luck這個字。 例句1: I wish you best of luck. 我祝你好運。 例句2: Best of luck to you! 祝你好運。 那這種輕鬆、隨性的方式也可用Best of luck to you! 例句3: Good luck with everything! 一切都順利! 我們也可以用luck和加上everything這樣是不是蠻順的，就變成Good luck with everything. 祝一切都順利。這是一種很友善、正面的表達用語，我們這樣說時後，就能夠讓聽到的人得到我們對他們的鼓勵、或者是支持或祝福。 (二) work out 發展、發生 例句1: I hope everything works out for you. 我希望一切都發展的順利。 例句2: I hope everything works out in your favor. 我希望一切都發展的順利。 用favor 表示幫助或是有利，用in your favor 就是對你有幫助有利。 (三) fortune 運氣、財富 例句1: May fortune favor you. 希望好運眷顧你。用favor是對你有好處、有利於，另外，我們用May 是希望什麼事情發生，May +名詞 + 動詞 。May love surround you. 希望愛包圍你。 例句2: May you have good luck and good fortune. 希望你有好運發生。 用May you +動詞… 來祝福別人。 May you have a wonderful day. 祝你一天順利。 (四) best 最棒的 例句1: All the best to you. 萬事如意、一切順利。 例句2: Wishing you all the best. 希望你萬事如意、一切順利。 (五) fingers crossed 祝好運(手指交叉) 我們可以用fingers crossed 來代表祝別人好運，這個的起源應該是跟基督教有相關，因為十字架可以驅魔與趕走壞運，我們的手指(食指與中指)交叉時很像十字架，因而變成祝你幸運的意思。 例句1: Fingers crossed for you. 祝你好運。 例句2: I will keep my fingers crossed. 祝你好運。 這兩句話用fingers crossed 就很好想像是在替別人祈求好運，也就是祝別人好運喔。 (六) Break a leg. 祝好運 從這句話的字義break a leg (斷一條腿)看起來很難想像這是祝人好運，不過如果知道典故就會知道這是好的意思。有一說break a leg 是源自於舞台劇圈中的用語，也是大家的迷信，如果表演時希望別人good luck 怕會招來bad luck，所以就講反話，break a leg (斷一條腿)。所以演變到後來這就變成是祝福的話。 例句1: Break a leg, everyone! 留言告訴我你對這一集的想法： https://open.firstory.me/user/ckrvdk6whg2rj08931q1t5fpe/comments 大家好，歡迎大家來收聽English Angel 在師大! 我是Angela老師，這一季我們一起來學習英文慣用語和俚語，如果你懂了這些特別的用語，你就能清楚掌握對話中的內容和意思。 今天我們來看circulate 和cycle 這兩個單字，這是聽眾Paul 想要知道這兩個字有什麼不一樣? 其實，這兩個字中文很像，因為如果我們把circulate 當作循環來解釋，而cycle 也翻譯為循環，那麼這兩個字用法是否相同? 這種中文翻譯相同的單字的確會有很像的地方，不過等會兒大家聽完解釋後，應該比較能知道這兩個單字常用的情境和搭配的用詞有哪些。好，我們現在來看第一個。 (一) circulate (v.) 循環; 流通(遞送); 四處走; 散佈 這個字circulate 若作為循環，是指在一個特定的系統內或區域中它移動與循環。這個字常和血液循環一起用，或或是空氣在某個區域中循環。如果解釋流通，那麼指的是報紙、信件、email 小冊子、雜誌或資訊等的流通，就是發出去給大家。如果解釋為四處走，就是指宴會中有人到處走，到處聊天的行為，那也會用circulate。如果解釋為散佈就是常會和謠言一起用，例如:謠言在某處circulate，傳播開來等等。我們來看一下例句比較清楚。 例句1: The blood always circulates through the body in the same direction. 血液總以同一方向在身體裡循環。 例句2: The school circulated an email explaining what had happened. 學校傳email解釋發生的事。 例句3: A great deal of information has circulated online and on social media about COVID-19. 很多有關於Covid19的消息在網上傳開來。 例句4: These vents allow air to circulate throughout a basement. 通風設備讓空氣在地下室流通。 例句5: We urge you not to forward or circulate rumors about COVID-19. 我們呼籲你不要轉傳或是散播有關Covid 19的謠言。 (二) cycle (v.) 循環; 騎腳特車 (n.) 週期; 循環的週期 這個單字的第一印象是名詞就是把cycle 當週期，例如:我們說惡性循環就是vicious cycle 也可以用vicious circle，而大自然中的水循環就是water cycle、生命週期life cycle或是用在商業中billing cycle帳單結算週期，business cycle 景氣循環或經濟週期。 用cycle當動詞，第一個會想到騎腳特車，例如: cycle to work 騎腳踏車去上班。不過，cycle 當循環時是如何使用的呢? 應該是要說cycle 是有週期性，把一系列相關的事物不斷的重複就可以用cycle這個動詞來解釋。例如: 例句1: He likes to cycle to work. 他喜歡騎腳踏車去上班。 例句2: She is determined to break the cycle.  她有決心要打破這個循環。 例句3: All plants and animals go through life cycles. 所有動植物都會經歷生命週期。 例句4: Economies cycle regularly between boom and slump. 經濟經常在繁榮與不景氣中循環。 例句5: A washing machine automatically cycles from wash to rinse to spin. 洗衣機或自動的從洗到清洗與脫水的循環。 1. 留言告訴我你對這一集的想法： https://open.firstory.me/user/ckrvdk6whg2rj08931q1t5fpe/comments 大家好，歡迎大家來收聽English Angel 在師大! 我是Angela老師，這一季我們一起來學習英文慣用語和俚語，如果你懂了這些特別的用語，你就能清楚掌握對話中的內容和意思。 今天我們來看看同學問的兩個俚語，一個是butter up 另一個是a smart cookie， 如果你按照字面來看，應該會覺得這兩個慣用語跟吃的有關係，不過他們的意思真的是字面上的意思嗎?好，我們一起來看看。 (一) butter up 討好；拍馬屁的意思 為什麼這個字跟討好或是逢迎拍馬會有關係呢? 大家來想一下 butter 是奶油，我們會在吐司麵包上塗上一層奶油或是巧克力醬或是花生醬，讓麵包吃起來口感比較好，也比較美味好吃，所以butter up 意思就變成討好或是阿諛奉承的意思。意思就是去please sb去取悅, praise sb讚美, flatter sb讓人受寵若驚。如果你要從別人身上得到好處，你會先說些好聽讚美的話，灌迷湯然後讓別人覺得自己很優秀，然後對方會願意聽你說甚麼或是為你做事，你就達成你的目的了。這樣過度的讚美別人，這樣的意思就是butter up 當討好，就是你很諂媚和逢迎拍馬，就是去百般的討好別人，這樣我們用butter up是不是很好記呢? 好，我們來看看以下的例句: 例句1: I think he is buttering you up. 我覺得他在討好你。   例句2: You’d better butter up your supervisor. 你最好對你的主管巴結一點。 例句3: His coworker is always trying to butter up the boss. 他同事總是試著阿諛奉承老闆。 例句4: Ray is buttering up the boss before asking for time off. 雷在要求休假前，會先阿諛奉承老闆。 (二) a smart cookie 聰明的人 用smart cookie 來形容人的確是不好想像，因為固然cookie 美味好吃聞起來也很棒，但是那畢竟是點心餅乾嘛! 不過，看到餅乾就覺得想吃一口對不對? 是的，所以可以想像一開始cookie被拿來形容是女生，對，沒錯! 但是隨著大家用的越來越廣，a smart cookie 就變成是可以形容男性也可以形容小孩， 當你說別人是a smart cookie的時候，那就是 表示那個人是intelligent, bright, sharp, clever (聰明的)  就是別人非常聰明的人的概念。 例句1: You are one smart cookie. 你是個聰明的傢伙。 例句2: You are a smart cookie. You will figure it out. 你是個聰明的傢伙，你會想出來怎麼做的。 例句3: Everyone knows he is a smart cookie. 每個人都知道他是個聰明人。 例句4: When it comes to business, Linda is one smart cookie. 談到做生意，琳達是個聰明人。 好，看完了smart cookie, 那有沒有tough cookie呢? 有喔! 就是很tough 人，很堅強的人。 我們來複習一下，今日所學的幾個句子，加深大家的印象。 1.
