You're gonna need a hot shower with an abrasive loofah sponge after listening to this one. It's another wild ride with Hawk as he continues to delve into the twisted minds of far-right Christian nationalists hellbent on establishing a real-life Gilead (not the land of milk and honey one, rather the one where everyone is evil). First up is Russell Vaught, a "battle-tested bureaucrat" who wants to turn the presidency into an absolute dictatorship if Trump gets re-elected. With his "radical constitutionalism" agenda, Vaught dreams of mass deportations, criminalizing abortion nationwide, and unleashing the military on American soil to crush dissent. What a sweetheart. But wait, there's more! We also meet the Society for American Civic Renewal (SACR for short), a creepy men's club that wants to create a patriarchal Christian ethnostate. Their goals include expelling non-Christians, stripping LGBTQ rights, and reviving feudalism à la apartheid South Africa. And it's all run by a shampoo mogul calling himself the "Maximum Leader" from his poetically named "Howdy Doody Good Times Foundation." You can't make this stuff up! First a pillow guy and now a shampoo guy? What's next, the truck nuts guy?In the end, Hawk is left feeling spiritually polluted after diving down this unsettling rabbit hole of white Christian extremism. At least these wackos provide unintentional comic relief amidst their chilling authoritarianism and hate-filled bigotry. It's both hilarious and terrifying how these wealthy radicals are dead serious about their unhinged fantasies of religious ethnic cleansing. Hawk begins this special episode by celebrating the news that Steve Bannon has been convicted of contempt of Congress and sentenced to four months in prison. Hawk mocks Bannon's legal team and revels in the fact that Bannon's popular right-wing podcast will be off the air during the critical months leading up to the November election. Hawk then launches into a wide-ranging discussion of current events, sarcastically criticizing Republicans like Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Charlie Kirk for their outrage over Bannon's sentence.Hawk goes on to analyze the implications of Donald Trump's guilty verdict in the Manhattan case, speculating that it could impact his ability to travel internationally as a convicted felon. Hawk also gleefully notes that Trump's gun permits may be revoked. He expresses disbelief at some Republicans' nostalgia for the Jim Crow era and condemns the Republican party's recent anti-LGBTQ rhetoric in Colorado. In the final part of the episode, Hawk issues a serious warning that the next five months leading up to the election could see an increase in right-wing political violence from "lone wolf" actors. He acknowledges that "we are heading into an extremely dangerous period of time for this country" and expresses fatigue at "living through shitty history." In this episode of "Hawk Droppings," Hawk delves into the controversial film "2000 Mules," which purports to provide evidence that the 2020 election was stolen through ballot harvesting. He meticulously debunks the film's claims, revealing its faulty methodology, misleading assertions, and lack of credible evidence. Hawk exposes the film's creators, Dinesh D'Souza and the organization True the Vote, detailing their history of spreading misinformation, engaging in voter suppression tactics, and facing legal consequences for their actions.Hawk also provides a scathing critique of Dinesh D'Souza, the filmmaker behind "2000 Mules." He outlines D'Souza's controversial career, including his time in the Reagan administration, his felony conviction for illegal campaign contributions, and his pardon by Donald Trump. Hawk dissects several of D'Souza's books, highlighting their offensive and inaccurate content, such as defending slave owners and blaming the American left for 9/11. He emphasizes that D'Souza's work, including his documentaries, is primarily driven by financial gain rather than truth.Throughout the episode, Hawk underscores his main point: "It's always about the grift." He argues that figures like D'Souza and organizations like True the Vote exploit the fears and gullibility of the Republican base for financial gain. He cites numerous examples, from the $10 million earned by "2000 Mules" in its first two weeks to True the Vote's failed attempts to raise millions for various causes. Hawk concludes by promoting his merchandise store's Pride collection, with proceeds benefiting the Kaleidoscope Youth Center in Columbus, Ohio (kycohio.org). KYC is a non-profit that supports LGBTQIA+ youth in the red state of Ohio. This episode revolves around the prosecution's opening argument in Donald Trump's criminal trial and whether or not the prosecution provided enough evidence to prove their case. Hawk reads the entire transcript of the opening statement delivered by prosecutor Matthew Colangelo on behalf of the Manhattan District Attorney's office. Colangelo meticulously lays out the prosecution's case, accusing Trump of orchestrating a criminal conspiracy to influence the 2016 presidential election by concealing damaging information about himself and paying hush money to adult film actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.Hawk asserts that the prosecution not only met but exceeded the commitments made in their opening statement, delivering overwhelming evidence that aligned precisely with Colangelo's outline. He encourages the listeners to reflect on the evidence presented during the trial, emphasizing the prosecution's ability to substantiate every claim made in the opening argument, and expresses confidence in the jury's ability to find Trump guilty of the 34 counts of falsifying business records based on the compelling evidence. In this episode Hawk discusses the events surrounding the release of the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape in October 2016, just weeks before the presidential election. Hawk, details how the tape, which featured Donald Trump making lewd comments about women, was incredibly damaging to his campaign and led many Republicans to withdraw their support or call for him to drop out of the race. In response, Trump's campaign worked with Russian intelligence and WikiLeaks to release hacked emails from the Clinton campaign as a distraction from the tape's fallout.Hawk cites evidence from the Mueller Report and a 2020 Senate Intelligence Committee report, both of which confirmed that the Trump campaign welcomed and encouraged the release of emails stolen by Russian hackers and funneled through WikiLeaks. Roger Stone, a close Trump ally, had advance knowledge of the WikiLeaks releases and coordinated with the campaign to maximize their impact. The host emphasizes that every key member of Trump's campaign knew the emails had been hacked by Russian intelligence and exploited them for political gain. The episode also touches on the ongoing criminal trial against Trump for the hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal. Hawk suggests that the campaign's urgency to "catch and kill" the Stormy Daniels story in the aftermath of the Access Hollywood tape was a factor in Trump's decision to pay her off. He criticizes Trump's defense attorney, Todd Blanche, for failing to effectively cross-examine Michael Cohen, a key witness in the trial. Hawk discusses two major threats to American democracy leading up to the 2024 election. First, he highlights an article detailing the Republican Party's coordinated efforts to restrict voting access and intimidate voters, especially in minority communities. This includes recruiting over 100,000 partisan "poll watchers," challenging voter signatures on mail-in ballots, and seeking to overturn laws prohibiting voter intimidation. Hawk draws parallels to past voter suppression tactics used by Republicans. The second major topic is a concerning interview Donald Trump gave to Time Magazine, where he outlined his agenda for a potential second term as president. This includes detaining and deporting over 11 million undocumented immigrants, allowing states to monitor and prosecute women over abortion, withholding funds from states that don't follow his policies, pardoning all January 6th insurrectionists, leaving NATO, and staffing his administration with loyalists who believe the 2020 election was stolen.Hawk expresses alarm over Trump's openly autocratic ambitions and the organized efforts by right-wing groups to implement his vision from "day one" if elected, including pre-drafting executive orders and training over 50,000 new bureaucrats. He urges listeners to read the full interview, remain informed, and be prepared to have difficult conversations to persuade potential Trump voters given the grave threats to American democracy that a second Trump term would pose. This episode covers the contempt hearing where prosecutors sought to have Donald Trump held in contempt for violating the court's gag order nearly a dozen times. Prosecutor Chris Conroy argued that Trump's social media posts attacking witnesses like Michael Cohen and the jurors posed a threat to the proceedings and intimidated participants. He asked the judge to sanction Trump sufficiently to make him stop violating the order.Trump's defense attorney Todd Blanche countered that Trump did nothing intentional and that his posts constituted protected political speech since he is a presidential candidate. However, Judge Juan Merchon repeatedly pushed back on Blanche's arguments, at one point telling him bluntly "you are losing all credibility with this court." The judge seemed unconvinced by Blanche's claims that Trump's reposts didn't violate the order. After the contentious hearing, Trump complained about the gag order on Truth Social, accusing the judge of violating his free speech rights. The episode then provided context about how last week, moderate Republicans and Democrats in the House joined forces to sideline the Freedom Caucus and pass bills opposed by Trump and his allies. This demonstrated the Freedom Caucus' waning influence under the new Speaker. In this episode of Hawk Droppings Hawk provides a detailed recap of the first day of Donald Trump's criminal trial in Manhattan. Hawk discusses the various pre-trial motions and evidentiary issues that were addressed, including the exclusion of certain evidence related to Trump's alleged affairs and the Access Hollywood tape.Hawk explains the jury selection process, noting that over 50 of the initial 96 potential jurors were excused after stating they could not be impartial. He highlights Judge Mershon's no-nonsense approach, ordering Trump to be present in court every day or face arrest. Hawk also criticizes a Fox News personality for encouraging Trump supporters to commit perjury and lie to get on the jury, calling it potential jury tampering.Overall, Hawk paints a picture of a chaotic first day, with Trump appearing disheveled and falling asleep at the defense table. He predicts the jury selection process will take at least two weeks, as the judge seeks to find impartial jurors who can fairly evaluate the evidence, which Hawk argues goes beyond just the falsification of business records and into the realm of campaign finance violations and election interference. Hawk covers the upcoming criminal trial of former President Donald Trump, which is set to begin on Monday April 15, 2024 in Manhattan. Trump is facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal during the 2016 presidential campaign. The charges stem from a complex timeline of events involving Trump, his former lawyer Michael Cohen, and the publisher of the National Enquirer, David Pecker. In 2015-2016, Pecker agreed to help Trump's campaign by "catching and killing" any stories about Trump's alleged affairs. Cohen then facilitated the $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels and the $150,000 payment to Karen McDougal to prevent them from going public before the 2016 election. After the election, Trump reimbursed Cohen through a series of fraudulent payments disguised as legal fees.Hawk explains the process of how documents and witness testimony will be introduced as evidence in the trial. He also discusses the importance of the jury selection process, as the defense is expected to use both peremptory challenges and challenges for cause to try to stack the jury in Trump's favor. Hawk predicts the jury selection alone could take 2-3 weeks, with the full trial potentially lasting 4-6 weeks. Finally, Hawk notes that given the unique nature of this case involving a former president, the judge has been careful to balance firmness on trial dates with giving the defense ample opportunity to make their case. Hawk plans to provide frequent updates and analysis as the high-profile trial unfolds in the coming months.Click links below to read the Indictment and Statement of Facts:Indictment: https://manhattanda.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Donald-J.-Trump-Indictment.pdfStatement of Facts: https://manhattanda.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/2023-04-04-SOF.pdf SUPPORT & CONNECT WITH HAWK- Support on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/mdg650hawk- Support Hawk's Merch Store: https://hawkmerchstore.com- Connect on TikTok:  https://www.tiktok.com/@mdg650hawk7thacct- Connect on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@hawkpodcasts ALL HAWK PODCASTS INFO- Additional Podcasts Available Here: https://www.hawkpodcasts.com- Listen to Hawk Droppings On Your Favorite Platform:Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3RWeJfyApple Podcasts: https://apple.co/422GDuLYouTube: https://youtube.com/@hawkpodcastsiHeartRadio: https://ihr.fm/47vVBdPPandora: https://bit.ly/48COaTBSimplecast: https://hawk-droppings.simplecast.com- Hawk Droppings RSS Feed: https://feeds.simplecast.com/pPVtxSNJ
In part 3 of this series, Hawk continues his deep dive into the ideology of White Christian Nationalism in the United States. He defines it as a political movement that exploits religion for political gain, driven by well-funded elites rather than a grassroots effort. At its core is the belief that America was founded as a Christian nation for white Europeans, and that laws should be based on the Bible to maintain the power and control of straight, white, Christian men over other groups. Hawk highlights how organizations promoting this ideology rewrite history and create alternative "patriot" materials reframing the origins of America through their racist lens.Hawk draws from interviews and books analyzing data and surveys of white Christian nationalist supporters. A striking contrast emerged - white respondents viewed America as a nostalgic return to an authoritarian, segregated past, while Black Christian respondents saw it more aspirationally, as a nation striving to uphold its ideals of equality. Hawk exposes the "holy trinity" underpinning their beliefs of freedom for themselves, order imposed on others, and the embrace of violence through unrestricted gun rights to dominate over minority groups. The ultimate goal, according to Hawk's research, is for white Christian nationalists to control all levers of government after a potential Trump re-election in 2024. This would enable them to remake America as an authoritarian, Christian nationalist society led by straight white men, revoking rights from those deemed insufficiently Christian, non-white, LGBTQ or female. Hawk warns this anti-democratic movement represents an existential threat to American pluralism and freedoms. In Part 2 on White Christian Nationalism, Hawk delves into the disconnect between its principles and the teachings of Jesus Christ. He discusses the dominance and control mentality prevalent among white Christian nationalists, attributing it to underlying psychological issues such as insecurity, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Hawk explores the Seven Mountain Mandate, a dominionist movement within evangelical Christianity that seeks to control various spheres of society, and criticizes its absurdity and lack of alignment with Christian values.Hawk becomes increasingly incredulous at the actions and beliefs of white Christian nationalists, particularly in their political influence and policy decisions. He highlights the hypocrisy of their actions, pointing out how their policies often contradict the teachings of Jesus Christ, especially regarding issues like poverty, immigration, and compassion for others. Despite quoting biblical passages that advocate for compassion and justice towards foreigners, Hawk laments the disconnect between these teachings and the actions of white Christian nationalists in positions of power.Throughout the episode, he grapples with the absurdity and frustration of white Christian nationalism, questioning its motivations and implications for society. He emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and compassion, urging listeners to reflect on the true teachings of Jesus Christ and to challenge ideologies that promote dominance and discrimination. In this bonus episode of Hawk Droppings, Hawk discusses the importance of swing states in past and upcoming elections, particularly focusing on Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. He emphasizes the significance of these states in determining election outcomes and notes the presence of Democratic leadership in key positions, potentially hindering Trump's efforts to challenge election results, as he attempted to do in 2020. Hawk also delves into the reliability of polling data, citing an article from Daily Kos that critiques the media's reliance on polls and argues that polling methods are flawed and becoming less accurate. He highlights discrepancies between polling data and actual voting behavior, suggesting that Trump's support may be overstated in polls due to various factors, including the inability to reach representative sample groups.Hawk's discussion provides a nuanced perspective on the current political landscape, challenging conventional wisdom about polling data and offering a more optimistic outlook for Democratic prospects in upcoming elections. He encourages listeners to consider alternative sources of information and cautions against over-reliance on polling data to predict election outcomes. Overall, the episode serves as a reminder to critically evaluate polling data and media narratives while highlighting potential trends that may impact future elections. In the latest episode of Hawk's Droppings, Hawk guides the audience through a peculiar journey into the world of white Christian nationalism. It all started when a curious comment prompted the exploration of this strange concoction, likened to the worst smoothie ever – a blend of Jesus, right-wing politics, racism, sexism, homophobia, and bigotry, with a dash of supremacy for texture. Hawk questions whether believers genuinely embrace these ideas or if it's just a power trip, creating a psychological puzzle to unravel. The narrative rewinds to the '70s and '80s, the birth era of the conservative Christian movement. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't Roe v. Wade but the aftermath of the Brown v. Board of Education in 1954 that ignited this movement, primarily fueled by resistance to desegregation. As overt racism became socially unacceptable, the movement pivoted to abortion as its rallying cry. However, racism persisted, donning a different disguise. Fast-forward to the 2020s, and the perplexing mix of religion and politics leaves observers scratching their heads.Engaging with Jeff Charlotte's book, "The Undertow," Hawk explores the slow civil war between right-wing politics and religion. The evolution of religion into delusion, division into distrust, and hatred into fantasies of violence is meticulously unveiled. This movement continues to evolve, now incorporating nationalism, asserting that the United States is divinely ordained as a white Christian nation. It's a mind-boggling journey, and as Hawk unravels the web, each revelation makes the narrative weirder.Wrapping up part one, Hawk tantalizes with an intriguing tidbit about Jericho marches organized by Christian nationalist groups between the 2020 election and inauguration day. Drawing inspiration from Joshua 1:9, these events blend Old Testament vengeance vibes with eerie realism. Amidst this, Hawk hints at a new documentary by Rob Reiner called "God in Country," focusing on white Christian nationalism, promising a deeper dive in part two. Stay tuned for the continuation of this exploration into the strange world of white Christian nationalism. In this episode Hawk delves into the intricacies of the 92-page order delivered by Judge Arthur Engoron in the Civil Fraud Trial brought by New York State Attorney General Letitia James against Donald Trump, his two adult sons, and the Trump Organization. The burden of proof in this case, being a civil one, is the preponderance of evidence, a lower standard than in criminal cases. Hawk then provides an overview of the seven causes of action in the case and highlights the significant motion for summary judgment granted by the judge, establishing a decade-long pattern of fraudulent behavior. The episode breaks down the defenses presented by the Trumps and their attorneys, including claims of no fraud and shifting blame to accountants. Hawk discusses the judge's comprehensive findings of fact and reveals the extent of deception, including false financial statements, persistent fraud, and deceitful practices. They basically lied to everyone about everything all of the time, including lying to one another. In the latter part of the podcast, the discussion centers around various witnesses and their testimonies in the trial. Notably, the focus is on Michael Cohen, who, despite being a convicted perjurer, was deemed credible by the court. Cohen's testimony was corroborated by other trial evidence. The judge's assessment of Cohen's credibility is highlighted, underscoring the importance of his truthful testimony despite the evident animosity between him and Donald Trump. Additionally there were inadequacies and contradictions of expert witnesses presented by the Trump defense team. Several experts are discussed with the court finding their testimonies lacking credibility, being inconsistent, unsupported, and contradicted by other evidence.  SUPPORT & CONNECT WITH HAWK - Support on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/mdg650hawk - Support Hawk's Merch Store: https://hawkmerchstore.com - Connect on TikTok:  https://www.tiktok.com/@mdg650hawk7thacct - Connect on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@hawkpodcasts   ALL HAWK PODCASTS INFO - Additional Podcasts Available Here: https://www.hawkpodcasts.com - Listen to Hawk Droppings On Your Favorite Platform: - Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3RWeJfy - Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/422GDuL - YouTube: https://youtube.com/@hawkpodcasts - iHeartRadio: https://ihr.fm/47vVBdP - Pandora: https://bit.ly/48COaTB - Simplecast: https://hawk-droppings.simplecast.com - Hawk Droppings RSS Feed: https://feeds.simplecast.com/pPVtxSNJ
