In this episode, I have an incredible chat with Adrienne Harris, a Numerologist, Self-love & Relationship Coach, and healer, about the wisdom found in Numerology and how understanding our energetic codes can reveal our strengths. We discuss the balance between masculine and feminine energy, the impact of not having a father’s protection, and how hyperindependence can stem from trauma. Adrienne shares her personal journey of healing, embracing her divine feminine, and reclaiming sensitivity as a superpower. We also discuss the power of sharing our stories and embracing our true, authentic selves. In this episode, I express gratitude for 2024 (the year I started this podcast!), and for everyone who has been on this journey with me. I share little summaries of the episodes I have published so far and my plans and dreams for 2025! This is a promise to turn all the hardships and pain from 2024 into a purpose. To all those who came to my podcast as a guest, my heartfelt gratitude to you. To those who shared their stories with me privately after listening to an episode or two, my heartfelt gratitude to you.
In this episode, I share the story of how I came about choosing the title for my podcast The Daughter With Daddy Issues, and my "whys" behind creating this.
Trigger Warning: Conversations around Depression; Grieving Death. In this episode, our guest Shaheer brings courage, vulnerability and awe-inspiring resilience as he describes his relationship with his father in childhood, and the eventual passing away of his father from depression, which Shaheer heartbreakingly named, “the death of despair.”We delve into the importance of grieving, the importance of father figures in our lives, the art of owning our stories, and forging our paths.
If I could say anything to the woman that my father had an affair with while he was married to my mother, this is what I would tell her.
Step into Episode 06, where we are honoured to share the courageous journey of Poonam. A mother to three beautiful sons, Poonam embodies invincible strength, admirable vulnerability, and unwavering resilience as she shares her powerful story with us. Tune in today as we explore father wounds, childhood traumas, and invaluable insights together! TW: childhood sexual trauma
TW: Mention of domestic violence, physical ab*se, childhood s*xual ab*se.In this episode, I explore why I used to get defensive when someone would express concerns about adult children of divorced parents not being able to be suitable romantic partners or spouses. And why I agree with it now... to some extent. And why healing is so important for all of us to show up as confident, compassionate, curious and grounded adults as we keep evolving, regardless of our parental and personal marital history or status. What I also go through briefly is what messages triggers can carry and how to deal with them, and what really is trauma, and how can the long-term effects of traumatic experiences for children can be mitigated with the support, love, and non-judgmental attitude of a community,
TW: physical ab*se. This is a spoken word that I attempted, titled "Sketchbooks and Doodle Pads", exploring concepts of procrastination, self-doubt, low self-worth, lack of self-belief, growing up with narcissistic tendencies from our fathers, and finally attempting to break free from our own self-limiting patterns.
[Trigger Warning: One mention of S*icide Ideation.]In this episode, we briefly explore how abandonment wounds, rooted in emotional neglect or the absence of consistent care during formative years, can lead individuals to develop coping mechanisms that may compromise their authentic expression. The fear of rejection or abandonment can drive people to suppress certain aspects of their true selves in an attempt to conform or gain approval. Embracing the authentic self requires a deep exploration of these abandonment wounds, as healing involves acknowledging and addressing the pain associated with past emotional neglect. By understanding and working through these wounds, individuals can gradually unveil their authentic selves, free from the constraints imposed by fear and the need for external validation.
TW: #suicideideation #sexualassault #physicalabuseReminiscing the moment I told my therapist that I think I have daddy issues; how I felt about the term "daddy issues" at the time; finding connection between limerance, attachment, staying in a cycle of being infatuated as a coping mechanism; modern-day and pop-culture implications and interpretations of the term "daddy issues" and what that may entail for us when it comes to developing understanding of this psychological phenomenon.
The first step is one of the hardest! Episode 1 is my first step in this journey where we start exploring the complexities and nuances of father-daughter relationships. In this episode, we briefly touch upon the different ways father wounds can manifest in our relationships with ourselves and others.
