Pick n' Mix and Topical Resort get blended together for one night only in celebration of the release of Sonic Colours: Ultimate! Hasty History and Topical Thesis return, opinions are had, lots of new music is played and we see the clash of two titans: Trivia Coast and Code Breakers. Just how will it all fuse together? All shall be decided over the course of a bumper length episode, so go ahead and grab yourself a ticket for The Mixin' Resort! For the full show notes, check out: https://www.rspicknmix.com/s2e33
As promised, the Topical Resort returns for a special episode covering the rise and demise of the Switch's SEGA AGES line now that Herzog Zwei has capped off the series! All your favourite old segments are here in the new decade, so come and join us as we look back on SEGA's now deceased premium range of ports and remakes.
It's Something Nostalgic I Guess, and it aired as a part of our Mega Drive Mini Marathon! Witness the one night only (and we really mean it this time) return of the Resort to discuss what is technically SEGA's newest console, because we all know that this show is about technicalities...
One last happy memory before we say goodbye. Just originally advertised as the season finale, this episode of the Resort sees the permanent closure of its doors, and we hope it's in the best way possible: with some extremely sentimental to Viper. Thanks to you guys for 104 episodes of topicality, and thanks to SEGA for making the Master System, it's pretty cool.
The final fan request of the series hits your ears tonight or whenever you choose to download this, and it's a contender for the most interesting topic in either series... at least in the opinion of the chat and Viper. This episode tells the tale of one of the pioneers of digital storefronts in gaming, it's different regional varients (including one extremely close to home to our host!) and its quite literal fall from grace... or space.
You guys had the choice for Episode 100, so Episode 50 of Season 2 goes to Viper, and this time he also picks a composer, one of his favourites in-fact. Industry legend Hideki Naganuma is on the chopping block tonight, as are many of his great soundtracks including Jet Set Radio Future, Sonic Rush, Super Monkey Ball 3D, Black Panther: New Yakuza Chronicles and many more! If you're a fan of the man, you'll want to tune in to hear the random trivia and chronological history of his work. If you're not a fan, isn't now the time to jump in?
No Jamie, that doesn't say IceCap........ It was E3 this week, and we're go full anti-cynical Brit mode against these cliche gamers and their whole enjoying games shtick by moaning about games! Almost makes you wonder why we pretend to like them... PSO2 is cool though, that's a good takeaway from tonight!
Brit wouldn't stop asking for it, so we should probably deliver. Arguably one of the most requested episodes EVER is selected to occupy the special 100th slot, and of course we spend more time talking things that aren't Tee Lopes than we do talking about the man himself. But there's music! The chatter's okay too...
The final episode of May sees us Off-Topic... well, one final time this series. There's small amounts of TSR and Monkey Ball talk, but mainly a lot of nattering and great music. Oh, and it all comes from an overslept Viper who's extatic over being hired. As extatic as he gets that is... That one TSR game came out a while back, we should probably play some music from it and other Sumo games. Outside of that, we've got the two other Sonic Racing games, lots of Virtua Tennis, Tennis with more likable characters and that one OutRun game they won't port. Oh, and this all takes place during RS' testing season! NOTE: To listen to the HQ version of this podcast, please visit: https://mega.nz/#!vRF1nYiQ!6ZOacHuLTB3V_j2n1E6fBOVFyKxRquV44aoR6NpDI6U
Spark the Electric Jester 2 dropped a few days ago on Steam, and considering Viper's background with the series and with Lake's previous fangames, it's probably about time we covered the games and more importantly, their brilliant music.
Golden Axe turns 30 this month (no clue when though!) so why not celebrate like we did for Sonic 3 by playing remixes of every major track in the game. There's lots of Wilderness, but aside from that, I hope there's some deep cuts!
I know, how about we somewhat tie in this week's vaguely related topic into this weekend's holiday? What could possibly go wrong? Certainly not the soundtrack to tonight's episode, that's for certain!
In typical SEGA fashion, they had an idea which was rougly about a decade ahead of its time. Netflix like streaming services for games have already swallowed a portion of the market and more services are continuing to assert their presence on the market, but amongst all this competition, it's important to remember that SEGA released a games on demand service in 2008 known as PlaySEGA. Listen in to hear the history, talk about the site, plenty of music and how it MAY have influenced the design of RadioSEGA!
It's Good Friday here in some parts of the world, and rather nicely the sun decided to rear its head. Hear a hot and beverage deprived Viper stumble his way through a show all about Easter Eggs, Fish and Persona. You know, the essentials to any Good Friday with the family, or in this case.... the fam.
wowaka passed away on the 5th of April 2019 due to acute heart failure. We at the Topical Resort wanted to pay respects in the best way we knew, going through the details of his life and playing some of his best works. Bring your strongest emotions into this show, because it may not be one for the emotionally frail. No jokes, no derailings, just a heartfelt look at a man who's work improved the lives of many. May he Rest in Peace.
April Fools may have been a few days before the show, but that doesn't stop us from getting in the spirit! We're playing the best mashups and Soundclowns from around the web, including music from the likes of SiIvaGunner, beat_shobon, Matthew Ashcroft, Triple-Q and more! Turn the volume up and then when you realise it's a joke turn it all back down again.
The Topical Resort turns 2 this weekend, and it just so happened that MadWorld turned 10 a few weeks back, marking 10 years since PlatinumGames' first title debuted. Instead of more rhythm games, why don't we celebrate our birthday with one of our favourite companies here on the show? There's plenty of RS favourites, but also a whole host of new non-SEGA tracks sure to blow your ears away!
Following on from BritGamer's licensed games request, Mick wanted to hear some unlicensed SEGA music. Fear not though, there's not too many bootlegs, instead we've got a lot of Mega Drive and Dreamcast indies. Plenty of great music and great games worth purchasing for your old SEGA machines.
The Bonus Stage returns for a 2nd act. Join Viper for talks of Sonic Runners' *almost* grand return and Judgment, because everyone and their mother has to talk about drugs not being as bad as they seem apparently.
