Four weeks down and the league is officially a pressure cooker. The Gargoyles are the lone unbeaten at 4–0, Hoop Dreams finally got tripped up, and the middle of the pack is jammed with teams clawing for separation. At the bottom, it’s chaos — five different squads are sitting at 1–3, all desperate to avoid sinking into the cellar. And joining me to break it all down are two owners right in the thick of it - Josh Hooper of Hoop Dreams and Greg White of Kiss of Deaf.
Three weeks gone, and the league is already turning into a battlefield. The undefeated squads are strutting, the winless teams are panicking, and the rest are just hanging on for dear life. Hoop Dreams and the Azure Gargoyles have stormed out to perfect 3–0 starts, while Colonel Sanders Was Offsides and the Bishop Backers are stuck in the basement at 0–3, wondering if this season is already slipping away. Micah Hyde Yo Kids pulled off a statement win, Andy Reid’s FUPA finally got into the win column, and Los Gallegos look like they’re heating up at just the right time. But with injuries stacking up around the league and waiver-wire bidding wars about to break out, Week 4 is shaping up to be the one where contenders and pretenders start to separate for good.
Two weeks in the books, and we're already seeing some serious separation. The undefeated are getting cocky, the winless are getting desperate, and everyone else is just trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Hoop Dreams and YSYL are perfect through 2 weeks while teams like Andy Reid's FUPA and Colonel Sanders Was Offsides are staring down the barrel of an 0-3 start that could derail their entire season.
The honeymoon phase is officially over, folks. Those perfect draft grades from two weeks ago? They're looking a little shakier now. Week 1 winners are trying to prove it wasn't a fluke, while the 0-1 crowd is desperately searching for answers before panic mode sets in full swing. Meanwhile, the waiver wire vultures are already circling, the trade rumors are heating up, and the trash talk is reaching peak midseason intensity and we're only in Week 2! Joining me today is the man who keeps this beautiful chaos organized: Commissioner Steve Skarsten of Los Gallegos.
After a long offseason, the official podcast of the Ohio Beta Fantasy Football League is back! Draft weekend is in the books, the teams are set, and now the real fun begins. Across the league, owners spent the past few weeks jockeying for draft position, pulling off bold picks, and rolling the dice on sleepers that could make—or break—their season. With Week 1 just around the corner, optimism is sky-high, trash talk is already in midseason form, and everyone believes this is their year… at least for now. On today’s episode, we’re breaking down all the action from draft weekend, handing out some draft grades, and looking ahead at those critical opening matchups. And joining me is none other than Morgan McBride of the Bishop Backers, ready to weigh in on who nailed their draft, who’s already in trouble, and what to watch for as the season kicks off. Let’s get into it.
After a brief hiatus of the official podcast of the Ohio Beta Fantasy Football League, we’re back in action with another episode. Team owners have been busy jockeying for position within the playoff race as injuries abound and players are being activated off the IR. In many ways, this is the sink or swim week where team owners will solidify their position in the bottom 6 as they become mathematically eliminated or keep their playoff hopes alive as they race to the cut line. On this week’s episode we have former 1-time champion Mr. Dave Hunter and our commissioner and 2-time and reigning OBFFL Champion, Mr. Steve Skarsten.
Week 2 was a whirlwind of touchdowns, tackles, and triumphs, as teams battled it out on the gridiron to establish dominance and assert their presence in this year's NFL campaign. Some fantasy stars soared to new heights, while others faced unexpected injuries. Is this the year of the rookie before Week 8? In today's episode, we'll take a look at the unexpected heroes and disappointing letdowns that unfolded during Week 2. Joining me on today’s episode we have esteemed veteran team owner & perennial runner up Mr. Andrew Martin

Entering our 3rd season of the podcast it’s been a lot of fun tracking the history over the past couple years, and we can’t wait for what’s in store this season. To kick things off right, today we’re joined by the Commissioner of the Ohio Beta Fantasy Football League Reigning & 2-Time Champion Mr Steve Skarsten.
Join Commissioner & 2-time OBFFL Champion Steve Skarsten on a Pre-Season Update of 5th & Long!
Los Gallegos, Kiss of Deaf, MHYK, Hoop Dreams, Andy Reid’s Fupa, and Azure Gargoyles. The playoffs are here, and we arrive to Christmas Week as this year’s Elite 6 Teams of the OBFFL have secured 2 more weeks of play for the coveted OBFFL trophy. In a “winner take all” format of most cumulative points, we’re going to see who is best prepared to sit/start their way to the Championship. Will we have our first repeat champion or will the trend continue of no repeats with one of our underdogs? “Strange, isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. And when he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?”
We got one week left of football before the playoffs, and there are still spots up for grabs from the Magic City & Oasis Division. With injuries galore highlighting Week 14, it’s possible that there is a league winner on the waivers. Will one of the playoff hopefully snag him, or will one of the early exit teams play spoiler? We get into it on 5th & Long, and on this episode we have Team Owner Morgan McBride of the Bishop Backers and Commissioner and Team Owner of Los Gallegos, Mr. Steve Skarsten.
Colonel Sanders Was offsides is eliminated from Playoff contention after losing a close one to the Bishop Backers. We’ve reached the point of the season where the permutations and scenarios begin to get calculated and anxiously watched as they play out. Teams that have fallen on bad luck are gonna hit the waiver wire hard this week. Will andrew accidentally spend too much on a no name off waivers? Will Cousins, Huntley, and Tannehill be favored in place of radioactive Mayfield? We get into it all today, and on this episode, we're joined by Team Owner Andrew Sloan of the Potomac Puppies.
We have 3 games left in the regular season for the OBFFL and teams are on the brink of being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs and watching their season end early. It’s shaping up to be a competitive set of division matchups kicking off Week 13 and on today’s episode we have one of the most passionate team owners, Mr. Alec Swiecinski of Andy Reid’s Fupa.
Welcome back to 5th & Long, and I’m exceptionally excited to be bringing the OBFFL a special Thanksgiving Episode, which hopefully will become a staple for the league. Team Owners are waking up to some spiked cider and the thanksgiving Day parade, and certainly checking their rosters ahead of some turkey and football. We’ve reached the point of the year where mistakes will cost you the playoffs or even championship. On today’s episode, We’re excited to bring everyone two fan favorites, Andrew Martin of Jim Bob Cooters, and League Commissioner and manager of Los Gallegos, Mr. Steve Skarsten.
We are in the heart of the season where one false move can dash your chances at the playoff and some teams are teetering on the edge. Injuries continue to plague team owners and force them to make midseason acquisitions and trades. Will it be enough to carry momentum to the playoffs? On this episode, we have two team owners who have all but colluded this season breaking down the past performances and futures of the OBFFL. We have Josh Hooper of Hoop Dreams and Greg White of Kiss of Deaf.
Team Owners are beginning to feel the pressure of the looming playoffs as out of division play continues throughout the league. The waiver wire has grown bare as owners have scraped the bottom of the barrel to constitute a playoff ready team while navigating the pitfalls of potential injuries.
The NFL Trade Deadline has passed and we have a host of players looking to get after it on their new teams. Is this the shakeup we needed in the middle of the season to catalyze some teams back into contention? Will the top teams be able to sustain their dominance in the league? On this episode, we welcome Team Owner and Bad Boy of the OBFFL, Morgan McBride.
No Europe games, no Monday Night Double Header, no groundbreaking injuries or shootout scores. What an incredibly…boring week of NFL football. What Week 6 was lacking in high scoring, booming fantasy performances it made up for in close competition in the OBFFL. Joining me tonight to break it all down is the former OBFFL champion, long anticipated podcast guest, and Franchise Owner of Hoop dreams, Mr. Josh Hooper
Strangely quiet waiver wire activity this week as team owners continue to scour every corner of the league for the backups backup. We enter the challenging weeks of byes where managers are going to have to decide whether to cut a player for bench space, or risk it all on a one week matchup. Today we’re joined by a fantastic Delaware duo that are veteran team managers: Cors Burns of Colonel Sanders Was Offsides, and the Reigning OBFFL Champion - Dom Schlabach of You Sanuze You Lose - what’s going on guys?
