I like Rudyard but they got a lot wrong in this episode. Or maybe they just spoke too broadly. They didn't distinguish between European imperialism and European colonialism. Maybe what they said about the borders of African nations were true for some European colonies, but actually the opposite was true for the German and British colonies, where they went to incredible lengths to identify borders that made sense and would contribute to long term stability. Rudyard said something like a trillion dollars was extracted from Africa. But he failed to mention how much was invested. The general consensus is 5 times more. He said many things that were right, but it seems like you should have a better handle on an area of history if you're going to opine on it.
