Description

I have lost my pink, just like the flamingos do when they have a new chick. Im pretty sure I'm not the only one to lave lost their pink too. So in order to help me to find it again (and hopefully help any other white flamingos out there) I'm starting a podcast to talk abut the things that make us lose our pink and how we can start to get it back.

Im going to be asking questions of myself and doing some call to actions, I'll be treating this like my own solo coaching session and educating myself along the way to find my purpose and my pink again

There's been a reason we'd had a bit of a break and its because live has been happening.I have been diagnosed with ADHD and I thought we'd get Bruce my wonderful husband on to talk about what its like to live with someone that was undiagnosed and unaware of what they were living with. This man is my biggest cheerleader and my second biggest critic (Im my own worst for that). Hes the one that suggested I do a podcast in the first place!I asked him 4 questions:What made you think I had ADHD?What are the positives and negative aspects of living with someone with ADHD?Whats the biggest challenge? Are there any aspects of my behaviour you find difficult to understand?hope you enjoy Hosted on Acast. On this weeks episode we have a bee update, get interrupted and distracted by Bruce and Magnus and explore imposter syndrome in relation to parenting and in general. Its a struggle so many of us go through but not all of us talk about the feeling of being a fraud and feeling like 'we're going to get found out' I've been getting it a lot recently about this podcast and I've had it on more than one occasion since becoming a step mum and a mum. I did wonder if it can happen in a non-work environment at it turns out it can.We look at what i is, how it shows up, types of imposter syndrome and some suggestions on how to start combating it and putting it to one side Hosted on Acast. On this weeks episode I am joined by the marvellous Suzanne Coulton.Suzanne is a mum, a wife, a campervan owner and as well as those things she is also the Chief Operating Officer of The INKEY List so she is always balancing things. We had such an amazing conversation about balancing everything, our choices, how they can make you pink or not. Listen to us discuss an unpopular opinion and discussed a time where Suzanne wasn't at her pinkest. And share some of the joys of how kids keep us honest and trueI really enjoyed recoding this this episode, I hope you enjoy listening to it too Hosted on Acast. This weeks episode took 3 separate attempts to record due to poorly baby! We're looking at social media this week and 4 areas that can make you feel less pink and things you can do to take control of that again1) confirmation bias2) comparisons and unrealistic baselines3) FOMO4) social isolation and lonelinessI love social media I think it has so much wonderful uses but also there is a downside to our online presence. unhealthy comparisons, people not disclosing things and not being real and honest. it can lead you down a path you didn't intend to go and can be hard reversing back from. Its helpful to remember that if the grass looks a lot greener than yours chances are its a filter doing it! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
On this weeks episode were looking at work life balance or generally just balance. I dont like the phrase balance because it implies that there are only 2 things at play and they have to be split equally. This is NOT the case for most people and its possibly why we dont feel balanced and why its so hard for us to juggle.Plate spinning is more apt or juggling. Not balancing. We've also tried to film this one so lets see how this goes! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Ep8. Burnout

Ep8. Burnout

2024-03-2856:04

On this weeks podcast we're looking at burnout. It came a bit of shock to me when I was researching that the main form of burnout people spoke about was occupational considering all the life factors people have on them that may cause burnout. We do touch on those other areas within the episode however the majority research was based on occupational burnout and what to do to identify it and get out of it.I share my experience with burnout and some technique that can help to start to pull you out of it. We also need ideas for levels of pink please!! so get your suggestions in for the pink scale Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
On this weeks show we're celebrating neurodiversity week! Its estimated that 15-20% of the UK's population is neurodiverse. This means that 1/5 of the population have different learning styles and thinking patterns are outside of what society considers as being typical.Whist its recognised today more than ever there is still a lot of work to be done to support neurodiversity.I talk about the challenges I faced growing up prior to getting diagnosed with dyslexia and how that affected my pink without me knowing. And subsequently now later in life why I'm asking to be referred to see if I have ADHD too. The traits I have of both of these massively impact and affect my day to day life and I explore some of the things I do and will adopt moving forward as i begin to understand my brain better and gain my full pink back.https://www.neurodiversityweek.com/ Hosted on Acast. this week I'm trying to get to grips with my new equipment and we talk about international womens day.International women's day is celebrated on the 8th March every year. Did you know that it was first celbrated way back in 1911 and in 1975 the United Nations celebrated it for the first time. It only took 2 years for the day to be adopted as on of the UN's international days. We talk about why its important to celebrate it and why it shouldn't be just one day. Also we reflect on what you can do to support the UN's campaign for equality and how all of the things that they are trying to make equal can contribute to us losing our pink Hosted on Acast. I have my first guest on this week. My very good friend Melissa Fazackely! After over 20 years in construction within the health and safety sector, Melissa ventured out on her own last year and set up her own business. Since then has garnered international recognition for her outstanding contributions to the field. She has been honoured as one of the esteemed 40 under 40 professionals globally by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM). In addition, Melissa's remarkable achievements have earned her a nomination for the prestigious HBFs Top 100 Women in Construction 2023.On this weeks episode we talk through how pink she is currently feeling, how she lost her pink when her nan died. What that looked like for her and how she managed to regain her pink from that. We also touch on what she does now to maintain her pink and how that helps her to be herself.Mellisa's website: https://www.dimensionhs.co.uk/Mellisa's Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/melissa-fazackerley-33832630/Link to the journal: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CSZ7J1HF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_2ZVF64JCHXBVMNFR87VN Hosted on Acast. This week has been the most stressful one of my life, and because of this its made me have a think about resilience and how some people have more of it than others.Being resilient can help to maintain the pink however conversely not being resilient can lead to you losing your colour! It cna be sometimes used against you however its very subjective and personal to each of us and our own experiences. We talk about what it is, why it's important and how we can build it up. along with a bit of bigging up the ENT team over at Manchester Children's hospital and a bit of gushing admiration for the general NHS and the services it provides. On this weeks episode I'm joined by the one and only Bruce and I talk about exercise, the benefits for your mental health. I also touch on my struggles with exercise and lack of consistence and what that does to Bruce and if we both don't maintain a routine.I'm no PT or fitness guru but the idea behind this episode was to ask myself (and you) what are the things that hold me back from doing something I not only I enjoy but something that has huge (study proven) results on benefiting mental health.
