Description

Hey Fam! Welcome to the Employment Wednesdays Family.

You may be wondering how Employment Wednesdays came to life, before I give you the tea, let me take you to the Bible scripture "My People Perish because of the lack of knowledge" Hosea 4:6

Yes, you guessed it, I almost perished my career before it even started because of the lack of knowledge. When I enrolled for my LLB, I thought that all I needed to do was graduate in order to be a lawyer ( I didn't know what that meant, like many other people I reduced the profession to just being an attorney or advocacy). Little did I know that there was more I could do with my law degree. In my third year I got a rude awakening that if I wanted to be a "real lawyer" I needed to serve articles. To my shock a number of desirable law firms had already recruited candidate attorneys two years in advance. So this meant I would be at a disadvantage, in that I'm likely to be unemployed after graduating and should i find a law firm to serve my articles i can't be picky or i would have to wait for two years to be signed by a desirable law firm. And this all happened because of the lack of knowledge regarding my career choice.

Just like I had anticipated after I graduated, I was unemployed, and I opted to enrol for my LLM in banking law to keep myself busy, and skillful while I searched for articles. I thought to myself what happens to an average young person in South Africa who doesn't have the luxury of getting another qualification or keeping busy while they wait to secure their desired job. They end up being part of the high stats of the unemployment rate or even turning to bad means to support themselves and their families. One of the major contributors of unemployment is lack of knowledge on career choices that are conducive for financial stability and personal growth. Employment Wednesdays came to life to serve as the bridge between a layman and access to job opportunities.

In 2023 received an award from Mail & Gurdian as a powerful networking woman making impact through Employment Wednesdays.

I hope this platform is the assurance you need that you will get the job at the right company (or even create jobs).
