In the last decade, Sand Valley has become one of America's premier golf destinations. The Break80 Podcast was lucky enough to spend a few days at the resort in central Wisconsin this summer and play all the golf courses.
Tom Ferrell, the Vice President of Media and Communications for Dream Golf joins the podcast to talk all things Sand Valley. From the creation to what is upcoming for the resort, Tom dives into multiple stories about Sand Valley and how it came to be one the the best golf destinations in America.
The pod guys will also discuss what they thought of the various courses, amenities and everything there is to do at Sand Valley.

The final week of meaningful golf for 2025 has came and went with the Australian Open at Royal Melbourne, Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas and the DP World Tour in South Africa. We will review the three events and give our thoughts on each of them.
It is simulator season for those of us in cold climates and we are going to discuss the good and bad of simulator golf and whether it has become a necessity in the winter.
Brooks Koepka made the news this week with talk of him not playing LIV Golf. Where this will go is anyones guess, but we will discuss some possibilities for Koepka.

The Skins Game was back this week for the first time in ages at Panther National in Florida. Keegan Bradley was the big winner, but the bigger story may have been Xander Schauffele getting shut out out receiving a giant check for zero dollars. We will recap the event and where it could go in the future.
Young LIV golfer David Puig won the BMW Australian PGA Championship last week in Brisbane. He went the last 40 holes without a bogey en route to a 2-shot victory. Former podcast guest Daniel Gale made an ace and had a top 10 finish as well.
It is a big week upcoming in professional golf for December. Tiger Woods Hero Challenge with some of the top players in the world is happening in the Bahamas and Australian Open, with a field that includes Rory McIlroy is happening at Royal Melbourne.

The 2025 PGA Tour season came to a close last week. Some players played their way into a 2026 PGA Tour card, while others played their way out of a card. We will discuss the players who will not have a tour card next year and what some options are for veteran players.
Anthony Kim played well this week on the Asian Tour in Saudi Arabia and finished T5 along with many LIV Golfers. What is next for AK? We discuss this and some other LIV Golf news.
Golf magazine released their new world top 100 courses ranking. We have played some and will talk about the list, some possible snubs and some overrated courses.

The event that took the internet by storm has come and gone, but we are here to recap the Internet Invitational put on by Barstool Sports and Bob Does Sports. We will get into Paige Spiranac and Malosi cheating to Brad Dalke carrying his team to victory and of course Frankie Borelli choking on 18 and Beef making the winning putt. Adam Schenk won his first PGA Tour event this week in Bermuda. Schenk battled high winds using old equipment and multiple putting grips including one-handed. We will discuss the win and what is at stake this week in the PGA Tour season finale.

The Internet Invitational has taken YouTube and the golf world by storm. We will have a heated discussion about the event and if Brad Dalke could play on the PGA Tour.
Aaron Rai won in Abu Dhabi over Tommy Fleetwood with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Rory McIlroy fired a -10 in the final round to almost get into the playoff but fell a shot short at the 2nd to last event of the DP World Tour season.
Ben Griffin, using a new putter this week, earned his 3rd tour victory of 2025, joining only Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy in doing so this year.

This week the golf world got a new villain. At the Internet Invitational hosted by Barstool Sports and Bob Does Sports, some of the best & worst of the YouTube golfers came together for an event.
Luke Kwon, one of YouTube golf's best players slept in and missed his tee time, which set off a frenzy as players on his own team could not believe it and Kwon was not apologetic and got the villain name attached to him.
On a slow week in golf, this was perfect timing for the event and the drama, as it has already pulled in over 5 million views.

Well, the podcast played in the rain and cold during a 4-man scramble and things did not go as well as expected. We will have some laughs and tell all about the Twin Cities Golf Scramble at Highland National in St. Paul, MN.

Tommy Fleetwood kept his late season run going with a win on the DP World Tour in India. The win vaults him all the way to number 5 in the OWGR. We will discuss where he goes from here and if he is the third best player in the world.
Good Good Golf announced that they will be sponsoring a PGA Tour event next fall in Texas. We will try to make sense of how they are able to do this (with investors likely) and how it benefits both the PGA Tour and Good Good Golf.
Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy both had epic 2025 seasons. We will talk about whose was better and whose was more dramatic.

In this episode, Mike and Tim head to the Ayrshire region on Scotland's west coast. While there they stayed and played at Dundonald Links and Trump Turnberry.
Dundonald Links has hosted both the mens and womens Scottish Opens in the last decade and is also used by the R&A for final qualifying for the Open Championship. We were able to play the course and stay in one of their newly built lodges.
At Trump Turnberry, we played one of the top rated courses in the world with the Ailsa course. Home to some of the most famous moments in golf history, Turnberry Ailsa is loaded with history and the course did not disappoint. We also played the Robert the Bruce course and stayed at the Turnberry hotel and will tell all about it.

For the fall season it was a very busy week in the golf world. From Xander Schauffele winning the Baycurrent Classic in Japan to Marco Penge securing his PGA Tour card with a win in Spain, there was plenty to talk about this week in golf.
The Korn Ferry Tour wrapped up its season and the top 20 players stamped their cards to the PGA Tour and some known names missed out. All of this plus an LPGA Tour event in China had brutal green conditions and Tiger Woods is back on the surgeon's table with another back procedure.

Despite an epic comeback effort in Sunday singles at Bethpage Black, the United States team had dug themselves to deep of a hole to overcome, losing 15-13 to the European team.

The event that has been on everyone's calendars for a decade is here, the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York.
The European team is pretty much intact from their win in Italy as they look to be the first team to win back-to-back in over a decade. The American team will have some new faces, but will be on home soil in New York City, which could be the seen of an epic Ryder Cup.

Mark Rivard, the artist behind Charcoal Golf joins Mike and Tim on the Break80 Podcast this week.
Mark brings golf course architecture and holes to life through a blend of charcoal, watercolor, sharpie and colored pencils to create a mixed-media and urban twist on classic golf architecture.
In this episode, Mark takes us through how he got into both art and golf, and how that eventually led to the creation of Charcoal Golf. Golf art seems to be having a moment, and Mark provides one of the more unique versions of golf art out there.
He will talk about projects at Prairie Dunes, Landmand and Sweetens Cove, as well as a special limited run print of Bethpage Black's 18th hole, just in time for the Ryder Cup.

The unbelievable two-year run by Scottie Scheffler continues this week as the U.S. Ryder Cup team members played in Napa Valley in the Procore Championship. With his 6th win this season, Scheffler joined only Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods on the list of players to win 6 or more events in back-to-back seasons on the PGA Tour.
Ryder Cup team member Ben Griffin had a chance to force a playoff with Scheffler, but 3-putted for par to lose by a shot. World number 1 amateur Jackson Koivun had his fourth straight top 10 finish on the PGA Tour, while handling the stress of playing in the final group.
11 of the 12 members of the European Ryder Cup team played in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this week. Ironically enough, the hottest player on the planet not named Scottie Scheffler took the title. Alex Noren, who is a vica captain for the European team beat all of the Ryder Cup members en route to his 2nd BMW PGA Championship.
