Description
This podcast examines the various forms of media that shape our lives: the stories we love, the music that moves us, and the art the inspires us. We meet with a variety of guests to explore a piece of media that shaped them in some way and explore that influence as if it were a piece of great literature. Whether we are dealing with the seemingly inane or the deeply profound, we will try to get to the center of how we define ourselves and our values. It's a course in media literacy that puts hearts and minds ahead of the nuts and bolts of the industry.

Bless us, Podlings. It has been five months since our last Knives Out episode. We are fresh out of the confessional and dressed in our most somber wake attire. You know what that means...That’s right, Randy and Kris are back with Bill Bodkin, manager of The Pop Break digital culture magazine, for the last leg of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out trilogy: Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025).This time, Randy and his Knives Out disciples swap prewatch theories and unpack their real-time sleuthing during the watch. Then, the panelists dive deep into what may be the most earnest and emotional entry in the trilogy; they cover everything from the killer performances to the film's nuanced thoughts on spirituality. Finally, the team shares their superlatives for the entire franchise so far.Want to get in touch? Visit our website & YouTube page! Randy and Kris get classy with Jennifer Han and Sarah Callen. These longtime podcasters are hosts of the Movies & Us Podcast and the TV & Us Podcast; they are also founding members of the newly launched Movie Archer Podcast Network (this project was still under wraps at the time of recording) to discuss the Cate Blanchett vehicle, Tár (2022).In addition to celebrating the performances, narrative structure, and cinematography of the film, the panelists also bond over their mutual love for the connections human beings make through art and storytelling. The team even plays an entire minigame inspired by the pop culture reference at the end of the film and Lydia Tár’s abstract future. Ultimately, the team treats the film with much more depth and dignity than the reductive “cancel culture” debate that dominated the discourse at the time of release. We hope you will come and get to know us Tár & us a bit better through this conversation. Want to get in touch? Visit our website & YouTube page!
