The Detroit Lions’ season effectively ended with a 29–24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and no amount of ref talk can hide the truth.
This wasn’t about one penalty.
This wasn’t about bad luck.
This was about a defense that got physically dominated when everything was on the line.
The Lions surrendered 230 rushing yards at 8.5 yards per carry, failed to adjust, and showed zero evidence they were ready for playoff football. Coaching decisions, schematic stubbornness, and refusal to own reality cost this team their season.
In this episode of Detroit Lions News Podcast, we break down:
Why the run defense collapse was unacceptable
Why excuses about “3–4 plays” don’t survive film or stats
Why coaching accountability starts right now
How injuries exposed philosophy flaws
Why this team didn’t prove they belong in the playoffs
This was a playoff-type game — and the Lions played like a team already done.
The Detroit Lions welcome the Pittsburgh Steelers to Ford Field in a game that could define the rest of the season.
Detroit must win all three remaining games to have a real shot at the playoffs — and that puts the spotlight squarely on a defense that has struggled at the worst possible time.
In this episode, Joe Chapp breaks down:
Kelvin Sheppard’s comments and why they don’t match the numbers
The worst run-defense performance since 2003
Why Pittsburgh’s offense is statistically vulnerable
Key matchup advantages for Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Jameson Williams
Why this game is bigger than just Week 15 — it’s about whether the Lions can fix what’s broken
The offense has done its job.
Now the defense has to prove it belongs.
The Detroit Lions drop a 41–34 offensive shootout to the LA Rams in a game that was far closer than the final score suggests — until one disastrous quarter changed everything.
In this Detroit Lions News Podcast Postgame Show, host Joe Chapp breaks down how the Lions matched the Rams punch-for-punch statistically, why a five-yard third quarter ultimately decided the game, and how injuries to Brian Branch, Sam LaPorta, and Kirby Joseph exposed the defense at the worst possible time.
We dive into:
The run defense collapse and historic efficiency allowed
Why David Montgomery should’ve been featured more
The growing issue of missed game-changing plays
Officiating concerns and the NFL’s referee problem
What Dan Campbell and Jared Goff said postgame
The Lions’ realistic playoff path and what has to happen next
This wasn’t a blowout. It was a warning.
📍 Detroit Lions fall to 8–6
📍 Pittsburgh up next
📍 Win out — and hope for help
The Detroit Lions head to Los Angeles as underdogs—but this matchup is far closer than the narrative suggests.
In this episode of Detroit Lions News Podcast, we break down why the Lions and Rams are ironically similar teams across the board: offensive efficiency, pass protection issues, play-action reliance, and red-zone execution. We dig into the real numbers behind the matchup, why this game feels like a race to 30 points, and how one or two critical plays could completely flip Detroit’s season.
We also dive into:
Jared Goff vs Matthew Stafford: statistical twins under pressure
Why stopping the run is Detroit’s biggest key
Jahmyr Gibbs’ historic pace and how Dan Campbell is unlocking him
Why the Lions’ defense is closer than fans think
What a win or loss truly means for Detroit’s playoff path
This isn’t just another game—it’s a pivot point for the Lions’ season.

In this episode of the Detroit Lions News Podcast, James and Joe break down a critical "Dallas Week" matchup. With the Lions sitting at 7-5 and playoff odds swinging violently, the guys analyze whether the season is slipping away or if a turnaround is imminent.

Lions vs. Cowboys Preview: Why Dallas is a "Paper Tiger" on the road and the specific stats that favor a Detroit victory.

We also evaluate Jared Goff’s performance under heavy pressure, the impact of losing Sam LaPorta and St. Brown, and how the Lions’ defense — despite being healthy — is playing worse than last season.

Detroit’s loss in Kansas City wasn’t about effort—it was about points. With a depleted secondary, this always profiled as a “race to 30,” and the Lions simply didn’t finish laps: 2 red-zone trips, just 1 TD, 297 total yards, 17 points. KC ran 62 plays to Detroit’s 53 and went 4-for-6 in the red zone. The ground game vanished after a bully-ball opening drive (under 100 rushing yards), and matchup plans—isolating KC’s LBs—never translated into touchdowns. Penalties (4 for DET, 0 accepted for KC) and the late illegal-motion wipe-out stung, but the real miss was execution. Dan Campbell called out the postgame scuffle; Brian Branch owned it. On to Tampa: Detroit has to rediscover red-zone teeth and ride Gibbs/OL to set up Goff.
