With a moment to breathe, the coterie were formally introduced and apprised Everett of the current situation: unless they can keep the town’s citizens under control, every mortal and Kindred alike will be liquidated. The Coterie arrived at the Sunset Retirement Home to gather evidence and find those who had sent the frenzied attackers. Evangeline explained to Everett how they investigate crimes, Doris compelled Loreley Beerfass to reveal that it had not, in fact, been a “normal night” and Val broke into a locked shed only to find bloody symbols on the ground and a corpse, its flayed face contorted in a scream. The coterie discovered that the corpse was indeed a snare meant to lure in vampires when a powerful ward blasted Doris back in a burst of white fire. With the shooters having blown up the squad car, damaged Cherry and peeled away in different directions, the coterie commandeered two vehicles and split up to cover more ground.
