We've all had a discussion about the best type of academic intervention for our child. More often than not, a speech pathologist is not at the top of that list. But maybe they should be.As you will learn in this episode, the job title is no match for their extensive training or ability to support literacy development. In this chat with leading Speech Pathologist and Director of Speak & Write, Samantha Carr, we discuss the types of intervention and support a "speechie" can offer, how to get the most out of therapies, the benefit of working with your child's school, online vs face-to-face and my favourite topic of all, how can we do things differently. This episode is excellent for parents, educators, fellow therapists, and other professionals who advise parents raising children with learning differences. Speak and Write offers services nationally to children of all ages and abilities. Samantha's details are below, should you wish to reach out to discuss the suitability for your child.www.speakandwrite.com.auinfo@speakandwrite.com.auIf you find this episode valuable, please share it with your friends, family, colleagues or child's educator. It's not uncommon for children growing up with dyslexia to experience shame. It comes in many forms, but for many, it centres around the fact that they don't fit in easily, that they can't do things as quickly as others, that they are letting grown-ups down, that they aren't good enough or deemed normal. Our children need to be guided through these sometimes intense feelings so they don't impact their well-being and future potential. If you find this episode valuable, please share it with your friends, family, colleagues or child's educator. Join me for the first Dyslexia Success Story Interview. Today's chat is with my beautiful friend Reaya. Growing up undiagnosed, Reaya lived her life hiding her challenges and immense shame. She talks openly and vulnerably about how she worked hard to get by and ensure she was always deemed a 'good girl'. Today, Reaya runs her own successful healing business with clients across the globe. While she still faces some challenges, she has adopted a much kinder and more compassionate approach towards herself & dyslexia.I hope this episode opens up more conversations about masking, particularly for young girls, the impact of shame, and how we can help prevent it in our classrooms.Learn more about Reaya, her work and membership https://www.reaya.com.au/or follow her on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/reaya__/Receive my FREE Weekly One email - Each week, you'll receive one practical, step-by-step action to shift the dial on your child's mindset, confidence, and self-esteem.
