Electric Gold: A Nashville SC Supporter Podcast

The boys couldn't wait to jump on the mics to record this emergency podcast with absolutely no preparation or planning right after the big showdown between Nashville SC and Inter Miami.  What looked like a defeat for Nashville through much of the second half flipped on its head in the final moments when Super Sam Surridge saved the day.  And the boys are here for it.  But they aren't happy about the favoritism that Miami enjoys or the kid gloves that Lionel Messi is officiated with.  And they REALLY aren't happy with Luis Suarez, who might be the biggest crybaby in soccer.  But they're really happy with Super Sam and Brian Schwake and the whole Nashville team for never giving up in this one.  The bench players in particular shined bright in this one, and their fresh legs made the difference.  We've already forgotten about Toronto!  The boys are going to keep saying it until you listen - this team and this season are magic and you better be watching, because we are coming for some hardware.  And up next is Chicago, who are visiting Geodis Park next weekend, so the boys make some very bold predictions. In this episode, the boys catch up on the last couple of weeks of Nashville SC action.  They remain overjoyed at the wipeout of FC Cincinnati, and after a draw against NYCFC, they are mostly just hopeful the team never has to play at Yankee Stadium ever again.  There's plenty to be excited about, though, as the team continues their record-setting pace.  The boys can't get over what an incredible defense this team features, and the leader of that backline is especially incredible.  The young keeper Brian Schwake just set a club record for clean sheets, and should he be considered in the MLS MVP conversation?  With the Four Horsemen up front and the Cerberus in the back, this team is destined for mythical, legendary status. But also, Super Sam is great and all, but he needs to shoot his shot when he gets the chance.  The boys jam out to Stone Deep like it's 1992, but they're also keeping a close eye on Toronto, Chicago and of course, the pink warriors of Inter Miami.  In fact, it's a busy week coming up with a lot of frequent flyer miles for the boys in gold, but we aren't worried and expect Coach Callaghan to have the team ready.  The boys made some predictions about those games and keep their spirits high.  And they drink beer.

The backline are the heroes this week, with game winners from Max Woledzi and Andy Najar, and major contributions from Jeisson Palacios and Reed Baker-Whiting. Plus, we think we've figured out what this team is doing strategically that is so special. The boys also name off some of the greatest comebacks in human history - shout out to Admiral Yi Sun-sin. And the reality of being in the conversation for the greatest MLS team of all time is setting in. But before they get too ahead of themselves, there are still other MLS teams to consider, like the Houston Dynamo, if you can believe that. And the boys look ahead to a major showdown with the most despicable team of all, FC Cincinnati. And they drink beer.

In this episode, it's all love and joy as the boys celebrate an incredible beatdown of Inter Miami at the hands of Hany Mukhtar and company.  There's so many positives to discuss, the boys can't even squeeze them all in, but they are certainly excited by what they've seen from newcomer Elias Saad, who might just be the final piece of the puzzle that Nashville needed for a championship run.  Captain Hany Mukhtar is being the leader that we'd always hoped, and youngsters Matthew Corcoran and Reed Baker-Whiting are seizing the moment as well.  Everyone is feeling confident as they look ahead to the rest of the season, and the boys even suggest that the MLS can go ahead and engrave the Supporter's Shield right now.  They've also got some suggestions for Messi's next career once he is done with soccer (which might be very soon).  And when they're not jamming out to the Black Keys, the boys are paying close attention to the Columbus Crew and Vancouver Whitecaps; one is an upcoming opponent, and the other might just be who Nashville meets in the playoffs.  But for now, the boys make some optimistic predictions for the upcoming games this week as they keep on cheering on the team and bleeding blue and gold.  And they drink beer.

In this episode, the boys aren't amused by the recent string of play by Nashville SC.  Whether it's the injury bug, a lack of effort or focus or just a World Cup hangover, the boys insist that this team needs to get their heads right and start playing like the Nashville we know and love.  And while Hany Mukhtar is trying to do his part as captain, there's concern over his injury in the DC United game now, and Ahmed Qasem is not going to save the day.  But we'll tell you who does continue to save the day - Brian Schwake, who is making a case for that ever-so-rare goalkeeper MVP.  The boys soothe their pain listening to Circles by Nashville local rocker Pujol, which might turn out to be a great campaign song for Jon, who is officially throwing his hat into the ring for FIFA President.  He couldn't do any worse than the current leadership! The boys do everything they can to get excited about the Leagues Cup (and they fail), but they still predict a pretty successful tournament for Warren Madrigal.  And they drink beer.
