Two People Exchanging Saliva (2025) is an absurdist, genre-blending story about a dystopian world where the currency is slaps to the face and kissing is a criminal offense punishable by death.    This 36-minute Oscar shortlisted live-action short is the creation of two brilliant artists, Alexandre Singh & Natalie Musteata. Andrew sat down with them to discuss how the story came about, the decisions that went into the technical aspects (music, color, setting), what the characters represent about society, and more.    Watch the film on The New Yorker's YouTube channel - https://youtu.be/RuOEEu--j2Y?si=DdAQ9VEREfrHh5JJ    Follow the film on Instagram - @two_people_exchanging_saliva Follow Natalie Musteata on Instagram - @nmusteata   Follow the show on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/revalmanac/ Follow the show on Twitter/X: https://twitter.com/RevAlmanac Follow the show on Letterboxd: https://letterboxd.com/RevAlmanac/ Follow the show on Podbean: https://revisionistalmanac.podbean.com/ Email the show at revisionistalmanac@yahoo.com

Jane Austen's Period Drama (2025) is the most hilarious film of last year. A comedic parody about women's business inspired by the familiar world of a Jane Austen novel.   This 13-minute Oscar shortlisted live-action short is the brainchild of two remarkably earnest and funny filmmakers, Julia Aks & Steve Pinder. Andrew sat down with them to discuss what got the two of them into the creative arts, the inspiration for the film, and much more. Along the way, there was laughter, there were tears, and there was a surprise that shook the room.    Follow the film on Instagram - @janeaustensperioddrama Follow Julia Aks on Instagram - @jaksicle Follow Steve Pinder on Instagram - @stevecpinder   Follow the show on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/revalmanac/ Follow the show on Twitter/X: https://twitter.com/RevAlmanac Follow the show on Letterboxd: https://letterboxd.com/RevAlmanac/ Follow the show on Podbean: https://revisionistalmanac.podbean.com/ Email the show at revisionistalmanac@yahoo.com

I took a deep dive into 1973, along with special guest Frank Mandosa from Reels of Cinema, and after the episode we turned the voting over to you, the people! We didn't agree with any of the Academy's wins that year, so all six categories went to the social media polls for you, the listeners to decide on.  The voting has concluded and it's time to share the results and officially add these winners to the coveted Revisionist's Almanac.  With this episode cycle completed, we turn our attention to episode twenty-five, where I was joined by two first time guests, Frankie & Scott from Shoot the Flick - to dissect the year 2007 (No Country for Old Men winning Best Picture). This episode will release on Friday, January 2nd. Tom and Dana Duncan over at The Greatest Movie of All-Time Podcast have assembled a slew of podcast voices and content creators to each submit a list of their personal Top 50 best movies - and once those lists were submitted, they used a ranked points system to determine what are the BEST movie ever made.    Alongside their weekly releases of the 120 movies on the official Cinema Legacy Poll list, I asked others that submitted lists to share some of what they picked, why they picked those films, and then I give a bit of my feedback about some of their selections.    Follow Heather on the socials - @heatherjstewart   Follow along with the CLP by following The Greatest Movie of All-Time Podcast - https://open.spotify.com/show/5SMF6WdlBTmDGCW66s9jlI?si=3fb19104ea234e66    Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/revalmanac/ Follow me on Twitter/X: https://twitter.com/RevAlmanac Follow me on Letterboxd: https://letterboxd.com/RevAlmanac/ Follow me on Podbean: https://revisionistalmanac.podbean.com/ Email the show at revisionistalmanac@yahoo.com
