They found themselves. Together. In Baltimore.
A newly sober man's Christmas Eve dental emergency leads to an unexpected romance with his older dentist as they explore Baltimore together.
That's the tagline for The Baltimorons (2025), one of my ten favorite movies from last year. I had the chance to sit down with the co-writer and star, Michael Strassner, to talk about some of his comedic influences, how his life shaped the film's story, and what the journey has been like seeing the film connect with so many people.
The Baltimorons is up for multiple awards at the Film Independent Spirit Awards on Sunday, February 15th.

I took a deep dive into 2007, along with special guests Frankie Sparks & Scott Eisenberg from Shoot the Flick, and after the episode we turned the voting over to you, the people!
We agreed with one of the Academy's wins that year (Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men), so only five categories went to the social media polls for you, the listeners to decide on.
The voting has concluded and it's time to share the results and officially add these winners to the coveted Revisionist's Almanac.
On The Revisionist's Almanac, Andrew and rotating guests dive deep into the Oscars to see which winners have stood the test of time, and which haven't.

Largo (2025) is a powerful story about a young Syrian refugee, Musa, who is desperate to return to his parents and takes matters into his own hands.
This 19-minute Oscar qualified live-action short was made by two talented young filmmakers, Max Burgoyne-Moore & Salvatore Scarpa. Andrew sat down with them to discuss how they got into directing, why they wanted to tell this story at this time, the challenge of finding a young actor with the emotional maturity needed for the character of Musa, and more.

Two People Exchanging Saliva (2025) is an absurdist, genre-blending story about a dystopian world where the currency is slaps to the face and kissing is a criminal offense punishable by death.
This 36-minute Oscar shortlisted live-action short is the creation of two brilliant artists, Alexandre Singh & Natalie Musteata. Andrew sat down with them to discuss how the story came about, the decisions that went into the technical aspects (music, color, setting), what the characters represent about society, and more.

Jane Austen's Period Drama (2025) is the most hilarious film of last year. A comedic parody about women's business inspired by the familiar world of a Jane Austen novel.
This 13-minute Oscar shortlisted live-action short is the brainchild of two remarkably earnest and funny filmmakers, Julia Aks & Steve Pinder. Andrew sat down with them to discuss what got the two of them into the creative arts, the inspiration for the film, and much more. Along the way, there was laughter, there were tears, and there was a surprise that shook the room.
