In a dramatic and electrifying 5-3 win over the Boston Red Sox, the A's showed the world they are more than just spoilers—they are dream crushers. Boston struck early in this one. In the 1st, Masataka Yoshida singled home Trevor Story to grab a 1-0 lead. The A’s then erupted in the 5th—it started with a walk, then a couple big hits, including another Hernaiz knock, to push across three runs and take the lead. Boston, largely quiet through most of the middle innings, finally rallied back in the 6th: Yoshida reached on an infield single, and Trevor Story plated the tying run with a single to center.
