What started as a tongue-in-cheek comment on social media about gay men being told to “lock in” with their fitness goals turned into one of the most interesting and unexpected conversations we’ve had on The Jack Murley Sports Show. 💬🏳️🌈
Long-time listener Matt Boyles got in touch to explain why he’s built a brand and a business dedicated to helping men in the queer community feel confident, supported and empowered in fitness spaces — and we knew it was a conversation worth having.
In this episode, Matt joins us for an open, honest and thoughtful chat about:
His own experiences as a gay man in sport and fitness
The unique barriers LGBTQ+ people can face when it comes to getting active
What health, movement and wellbeing really mean beyond aesthetics
Why visibility, authenticity and community are key to making fitness more inclusive
This is a refreshing conversation about meeting people where they are, challenging fitness stereotypes, and creating spaces where LGBTQ+ folks can show up as their full selves — in the gym and beyond.
Whether you love fitness, struggle with it, or are just curious about how movement and identity intersect, this episode is packed with insight, empathy and plenty of food for thought.

Tom Miazga is, quite simply, a powerhouse.
A Paralympian, a record-breaker, a multiple-time CrossFit champion and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community — his journey is one of resilience, reinvention and relentless drive.
Tom first made his mark in the pool, representing Team USA at the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing. Over his career as a swimmer, he smashed eight American records, set two Pan-American records, and collected more than a dozen international medals along the way.
But if you thought that was impressive, Tom was just getting started.
Switching to CrossFit took his competitive career to another level. To date, he has been crowned “Fittest Seated on Earth” an incredible nine times, cementing his legacy as one of adaptive sport’s most dominant and inspiring athletes.
Away from competition, Tom is a passionate advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, raising awareness and money through high-profile fundraisers — and with modelling also on his résumé, it’s fair to say he’s a man of many talents.
So we’re thrilled that Tom found time to join us for a powerful, honest and uplifting conversation about:
His journey from Paralympian swimmer to world-beating CrossFit athlete
What drives him to push beyond limits, again and again
Pride, visibility and supporting the LGBTQ+ community
His favourite memories from a remarkable sporting career
Why showing up authentically changed everything
This is a motivating, energetic and deeply inspiring chat with one of adaptive sport’s most impressive champions — and we think you’re going to love it.

Mitch Brown spent years living the ultimate Aussie footy stereotype — a tough, reliable defender running out nearly 100 times in the AFL for the West Coast Eagles. A Rising Star nominee and a much-loved teammate, Mitch’s career looked every inch the image of the “straight” Australian sportsman.
But behind the scenes, Mitch was carrying a secret: he was bisexual. And in a league where no male player had ever spoken publicly about being part of the LGBTQ+ community, the pressure to keep quiet was immense.
That changed earlier this year, when Mitch Brown made history by coming out publicly — becoming the first male AFL player to do so. His story sparked global headlines, inspired countless others, and became a landmark moment for representation in Australian sport.
In this powerful, honest conversation, Mitch joins us to talk about:
His journey with his sexuality and the challenges of keeping his secret in elite sport
What it was like to come out publicly as bisexual — and the worldwide reaction
Inspiring others across Australia and beyond with his bravery and visibility
His proudest and most unforgettable memories from his AFL career
Authentic, thoughtful and deeply inspiring, this is a landmark episode with a trailblazing athlete who changed the face of the AFL forever.

From the pitch to prime-time TV, Mikey Connor is breaking barriers in football and beyond. ⚽🌈📺
This week on The Jack Murley Sports Show, we’re joined by the referee, inclusivity advocate, and star of the BBC’s groundbreaking reality series I Kissed A Boy.
Mikey’s story is one of visibility, passion, and determination:
✨ Officiating matches across the north of the UK while climbing the refereeing pyramid
✨ Opening up about being a gay man who loves football on national TV
✨ Inspiring thousands to live authentically and embrace who they are – including the challenges that come with that.
✨ Using his platform to advocate for the LGBTQ+ community in sport
Candid, inspiring, and full of heart, Mikey shares what it takes to thrive as a referee, why representation matters, and how authenticity can change lives on and off the pitch.
