VGK dictated play in Dallas Sunday enroute to a 3-2 win over the Stars, one of the top teams in the NHL. Reilly Smith was the hero with the game-winner late in the third period. Smith hadn't played in nearly two weeks as a healthy scratch. He followed up on a rebound off Mitch Marner's stick to notch the winning goal. VGK breaks a three-game losing streak in the process and moves ahead Edmonton by a point in the Pacific. Is the the signature win VGK was looking for? Can they turn the corner or was this Fools Gold? And we discuss the importance of having Reilly Smith in the lineup down the stretch. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. We fired up a special Sunday edition to preview VGK vs Stars, what is going on behind closed doors, lack of chemistry, roster composition and more Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
VGK spiraled last night as Adin Hill was yanked after giving up three goals on four shots. VGK fell to the Mammoth 4-0 to close out the homestand 2-2. VGK's coaching decisions are being questioned after Adin Hill got the early hook. It was the 6th consecutive start for Hill. Why did VGK bet everything on Hill? We preview this weekend's back-to-back at Nashville and Dallas. And, we have out What the Friday segment. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
VGK battles the Mammoth tonight for a playoff spot. These teams are tied for sixth place in the West currently, but a win for the Golden Knights would give them 6 of 8 points on the homestand, and send the team off for this weekend's back-to-back with momentum. Utah has lost 4 of its last five games but had a four goal outburst to end Dallas' 15 game points streak the last time out. VGK needs to score goals - they missed the net 22 times vs the Sabres earlier this week. The playoff race is getting tense and VGK needs to step it up. We talk about Shea Theodore's lack of scoring. And, we have locks, props and chance for the VGK-Mammoth game. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Adin Hill's mistake behind the net in the first period was a costly one. He went behind the net to handle the puck and wound up turning it over to the Sabres Josh Doan who banked it in net off the VGK netminder for the game winning goal in the first period. Josh Norris added an empty netter and the Golden Knights were shutout for a third time this season. Other than the misstep, Hill, who started his fifth game in a row, played well. The Golden Knights had 27 shots on goal - but another 22 missed the net. VGK lost another game to a playoff contender - they cannot beat the good teams. However, VGK will have the easiest schedule down the stretch in the Pacific. And, we talk about VGK's top 10 special teams on the power play and the PK. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
The Golden Knights will try to extend their win streak to three games against a road-tested and first place Buffalo Sabres team that has gone 17-2-1 in their last 20 games. This is expected to be a physical game. Do we see Adin Hill in net for a fifth straight game for VGK? Can Pavel Dorofeyev continue to have the hot hand? He has registered six points, four goals, in the past two games. It will be a step up for VGK over the first two games, depleted Pittsburgh and last-place Chicago, on the homestand. We have our predictions for the final 15 games of the season. And, our Locks, Props and Chance for tonight's game. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
The Golden Knights blanked the Chicago Blackhawks 4-0 Saturday night. Pavel Dorofeyev had a second straight three point night to fuel VGK. He is up to 34 goals on the season, one shy of last year's mark, with 15 games remaining. He has six points in two games. Adin Hill started his fourth straight game for VGK. He survived a couple of shots that hit the post, a save by Tomas Hertl when he was out of position behind the net, and a goal taken down due to a hand pass. We also discuss the identity of the Bottom Six starting to shape up. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Bruce Cassidy reset the lines with the return of Mark Stone last night and VGK responded in a 6-2 victory at the Fortress over the slumping Pittsburgh Penguins. Although Stone didn't score, his presence was felt for the Golden Knights as the line combinations were reset, including Mitch Marner going back to his natural wing position on a line with Pavel Dorofeyev and Tomas Hertl. Marner scored a goal on an acrobatic shot in the game. Dorofeyev also had a three point night. The surprise line was Sissons, Bauman and Howden, which played together for the first time. Adin Hill was in net for the third straight game. VGK continues to homestand Saturday against the Blackhawks. And, we have WTF comments from fans. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
VGK opens a pivotal homestand tonight against the Sidney Crosby-less Penguins. The Penguins are playing their second game of a five-game road trip without Crosby, who is still recovering from an injury sustained in the Olympics. They also are without Evgeni Malkin, who is suspended until Monday, as part of his punishment for a slashing incident on the Sabres Rasmus Dahlin. The Pens knocked off VGK in the first meeting earlier this month 5-0. Head coach Bruce Cassidy is pleading with his team to quit overpassing and taking more shots on net. We discuss taking the final 17 games in "Small Bites" - like this four-game set on home ice. We compare VGK's four games with other contenders in the division. And we have our locks, props and chance for tonight's game. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
VGK dropped a close 2-1 decision in Dallas last night. The Golden Knights passed up several shooting opportunities from the slot, especially, in a close game. Bruce Cassidy said his team gets too cute and tries to make the perfect pass. Overpassing also hurt the Golden Knights on the power play unit. Jack Eichel had the only goal of the night, following another scoreless first period. VGK played better defensively than it has in recent times. Oscar Back and Jamie Benn each scored in the second period for Dallas, once on the power play. The Golden Knights fell to third place as division-leading Anaheim and Edmonton both won. Is the seat getting hot for Bruce Cassidy. The team hasn't responded lately amid finger pointing and lack of accountability, according to Cassidy. And we talk about the huge hole left by Mark Stone's absence, especially on the power play unit. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
VGK will have to play with a sense of urgency tonight with a logjam in the standings and needing to find an identity as the season winds down. The Golden Knights trail Anaheim by a point in the Pacific, but several teams are starting to close in. VGK will face the hottest team in the league, the Stars, in Dallas today. It will be a matchup of Dallas' hot streak vs a Golden Knights team that is struggling for consistency. Dallas has won 11 of 12 and had a 10 game win streak halted in a shootout vs the Avs. We talk about the line combinations for VGK and players who are out of position still at this late juncture of the season. We have Locks, Props and Chance. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
The Pacific Division has really tightened after VGK lost at home to the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 in a four-point game. Bruce Cassidy might have lost his way with the Golden Knights. We had to question the lineup VGK put on the ice with Mitch Marner still playing center, despite the return of Brett Howden and Brenden Saad getting the start over Reilly Smith. There was a faceoff loss that led to a breakaway as Vasily Podzolkin stole the puck and took off to the races. There were questionable coaching moves and game management wasn't good, especially down the stretch. Cassidy pulled Adin Hill down a goal to add a sixth skater. Then the Oilers scored. But Cassidy then kept Hill in net with over 2-minutes remaining. We also talk about Kelly McCrimmon's comments on the trade deadline and recap Friday's loss to the Wild. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
There is still work to be done, but VGK acquired veteran center Nic Dowd to its lineup Thursday. The club filled one need by getting a center that could play on the third or fourth line. We could see Tomas Hertl moved up to the second line to enable Mitch Marner to return to his natural wing position. VGK still could use a Bottom six scorer and they are definitely in the market for a goaltender. We will see what Kelly McCrimmon has up his sleeve as the deadline looms. VGK returns to the ice tonight for the first time in a month. They will face a tough Minnesota Wild team which is in third place in the Central. The Wild have three Olympians which should be honored along with Jack Eichel and Noah Hanifin from the Gold Medal winning team. And we also have WTF comments. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
The comeback win against Detroit could be a pivotal season-altering moment for VGK. The team needed to rebuild accountability and potentially reset its identity at a critical juncture. VGK rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win in overtime on a Tomas Hertl redemption goal. He had committed two bad penalties including a tripping call with over two minutes left in regulation. Mitch Marner helped fuel the comeback with a goal and a helper. VGK returns home to T-Mobile on Friday. For the Olympians, some have been away from Las Vegas for a month. We have heard there have been conversations for a potential Adin Hill-Jordan Binnington goalie swap. Both goalies make the same amount of money, but Hill's contract expires in 2031. Binnington's contract ends next year. Plus the latest trade activity in the Pacific. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
VGK made a late-night trade Tuesday to obtain Cole Smith from Nashville. What does the trade mean and is this the first of multiple moves for the slumping Golden Knights? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
The Golden Knights have now lost three straight and are assured of a non-winning road trip. Last night on Jack Eichel's return to Buffalo for a fourth time, VGK trailed 3-0 in the second period before they started to play. Ivan Barbashev scored on a wraparound and Pavel Dorofeyev scored to make it a 3-2 game. But the Golden Knights couldnt come all the way back as they sunk to 1-3 on the post-Olympics road trip. Things might not get much better tonight as VGK travels to Detroit on the tail end of a back-to-back. The Red Wings are looking to add more juice at the deadline, but they have been consistent and are currently in a playoff spot, in third place in the Atlantic. The Red Wings haven't been to the playoffs in a decade. We also have Locks, Props and Chance for tonight's contest. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
We will see if the temperature in Buffalo toward Jack Eichel has cooled in his fourth visit back to the Queen City. It has been frosty to say the least since he departed the Sabres organization. Eichel, along with VGK teammate Noah Hanifin, will join Team USA member Tage Thompson for a gold medal celebration pre-game. We will see if cheers turn to boos after the celebration is over. We talk about one thing that needs to be changed other than a trade. And, we have our locks, props and chance for tonight's game. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Bonus Episode: As the trade deadline looms, should VGK buy or sell? We look at both sides as personnel concerns mount. How can VGK acquire players when they are up against the cap? And we talk about immediate needs including center and goaltending. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
VGK had no pulse in Sunday's loss in Pittsburgh. The Golden Knights gave up five goals including two on the power play in a 5-0 loss. We'd like to blame the goaltending, but there was no offense to speak of either. The Golden Knights gave up the first of three goals in the second period. Mark Stone, VGK's captain, was injured in what didn't look like much of a collision with Kris LeTang of the Pens. Stone didn't return and we feel he could have aggravated a previous injury. Adin Hill continued to struggle in net. He has the worst slot save percentage in the league. We also recap the loss in Washington, Friday to former Golden Knight Logan Thompson and the Caps 3-2. VGK fell behind 3-0 which drew the ire of Bruce Cassidy, who said everyone needs to step up. We also discuss Olympic Fatigue. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
VGK travels to D.C. and Pittsburgh this weekend. We are expect to see the return of all five Olympians to the Golden Knights lineup. Jack Eichel and Noah Hanifin were seen skating in Washington yesterday. Mitch Marner, Mark Stone and Shea Theodore will be back after missing Wednesday night's game in L.A. VGK sent Tanner Laczynski, Dylan Coghlan and Kai Uchaiz back to the Silver Knights. VGK could face former goalie Logan Thompson and the Capitals. Thompson now has 20 wins for a fourth consecutive season. We could also see the return of Olympian Tom Wilson in D.C. The Capitals are four points back of a playoff spot. Sunday's game against the improved Penguins should be a test for VGK. The Pens are in second place in their division. They are bidding to make it into the playoffs for the first time in four years. Sidney Crosby remains out for the next month after an MCL injury sustained in Milan. We also have our WTF segment. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
