The Blue Jays would take the lead in the 5th inning on a 2 run home run. Adrian Houser started for the Rays and was decent. He ended up going 6 IP striking out 5 giving up 4 runs. The Tampa Bay Rays blow another lead, losing to the Baltimore Orioles 6-5. The Rays offense was very good once again. Racking up 15 hits and 5 runs. They got it started in the 3rd inning. Christopher Morel ripped a 2 RBI double which led to a 3 run inning to give the Rays a 3-0 lead. The Rays would add on in the 6th inning after the Orioles scored 1 in the 3rd and 5th. Tristian Gray doubled to score a run and that was followed by a Bob Seymour single to give the Rays a 5-2 lead. That lead held until the 8th inning. The Orioles would score 3 runs in the inning to tie the game. Then on the first pitch of the 9th inning Kevin Kelly would allow a walk off homer to lose the game. The Tampa Bay Rays bounce back and beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-2. The Rays wasted no time getting a lead in this one. Brandon Lowe roped a RBI double in the first inning to give the Rays a 1-0 lead. The very next inning Hunter Fedducia would also double to give the Rays a 2-0 lead. Brandon Lowe would get his 2nd RBI of the night on a big home run to give the Rays a 3-0 lead in the 3rd. The Rays would break the game open in the 6th, 7th, and 8th. It started with a Tristian Gray RBI double then a Junior Caminero single to make it 5-0. Then Jake Mangum hit a moonshot homer to make it 6-0. The Orioles would add 2 in the 8th but that is as close as they would get. Shane Baz started for the Rays and was fantastic. He would go 4 IP not giving up any runs before handing it off to the bullpen to finish it off. The Tampa Bay Rays hang on to win their last home game of the year 7-3. The Rays pounced on Boston early with a 3 run first inning. That inning was highlighted by a 2 RBI double by Christopher Morel. There would be no score until the 4th inning when Boston would score on a RBI double to make it 3-1. Brandon Lowe would hit his 30th homer of the year in the 6th inning to make it 4-1. Boston would try to complete their comeback in the 7th inning. They would score 2 runs and get the tying run to 3rd with less than 2 outs. But Bryan Baker would shut it down to hold the lead. The Red Sox would respond in the top of the 2nd to make it 1-1. But then Carson Williams hit a solo homer in the bottom of the 2nd to give the Rays a 2-1 lead. Once again, the Red Sox would quickly tie the game in the top of the 3rd to make it 2-2. But then in the 3rd inning Yandy Diaz would hit his 25th homer of the year to make it 3-2. That score would hold until the top of the 7th when everything would fall apart for the Rays. The Red Sox scored a combined 9 runs in the 7th and 8th innings including a 7 run 8th inning to blow the game open and give Boston a 11-3 lead. The Rays would put up a fight in the 9th. Everson Pereira would hit a grand slam to make the score 11-7. But it was too little too late as the Rays dropped the series opener. He went 7 IP giving up 0 ER and striking out 3. The game would be tied until the 7th inning when the Rays would finally pull ahead. Chandler Simpson hit the go ahead single to score Carson Williams to give the Rays the lead. Pete Fairbanks would shut it down in the 9th to secure to win.
