The NFL Playoffs are one week away and there are matchups we are hoping to see in Round 1 like the Chicago Bears taking on the Green Bay Packers in a trilogy of NFC North madness. The New England Patriots need to prove their season with a third matchup against the Buffalo Bills. In the AFC, there may be no more compelling matchup than the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Houston Texans, but the Steelers have to make the dance first with a win over the Baltimore Ravens. The Jacksonville Jaguars have the most explosive offense in the conference and it could make for a very exciting game with the Bills as well. The Jacksonville Jaguars are the most dangerous team in the AFC and the second-most dangerous might be the Houston Texans, but the Jaguars overall approach makes them the scarier option. Speaking of scary, the New England Patriots got terrifying news on Tuesday about Stefon Diggs in an allegedly legal situation. If Diggs were to be absent, it would severely hinder the Patriots' chances. The Denver Broncos would certainly benefit and may be the more serious threat out of the two top seeds anyways. The Los Angeles Rams had to make a big comeback to find victory on Monday Night Football and they weren't able to pull it off, falling in a close one to the Atlanta Falcons. However, it is not time to worry about the Rams. In the NFC, it comes down the the NFC West for the top seed as the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers are the only teams vying for the honor. San Francisco needs to go all out for the #1 seed as it would result in only home games all the way to the Super Bowl. The battle for the top seed in the AFC comes down to Week 18 as the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars all still have a shot. Denver has the easiest path, just needing a win, while the Patriots simply need to win and have the Broncos lose and tje Jaguars need both of them to lose while they win. The Chargers face the Broncos, but they are sitting Justin Herbert, making Denver's path easiest, but it is the Patriots who need the top spot the most. They are still a true Super Bowl contender, even if the path will be more difficult now. The AFC and NFC South remain unsolved going into the final week of the regular season. The Baltimore Ravens ran wild on the back of Derrick Henry to a victory in Green Bay against the Packers on Saturday night then got a gift the next day when the Pittsburgh Steelers choked against the Cleveland Browns. Now, the AFC North is down to one game and the Ravens can actually pull off the unthinkable. The San Francisco 49ers won a classic over the Chicago Bears where Brock Purdy continued his hot streak and Caleb Williams couldn't quite get the job done at the very end. Top seed in the NFC is potentially in the 49ers' grasp now. The Philadelphia Eagles looked ugly, but took care of business against the Buffalo Bills. This ended any chance the Bills could steal the AFC East away from New England. Buffalo's offense isn't good enough to overcome the defense long term, even if they held down a crummy Eagles offense, that will also be a fatal flaw for their run. Finally, the AFC South will be up to Jacksonville as the Jaguars won a close one against the Indianapolis Colts. Holding off the Houston Texans, who won a tight one against the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday. The Detroit Lions could not take down Max Brosmer and the Minnesota Vikings, officially ending their playoff hopes in 2025. this is a massive disappointment for the Lions after the success of recent years and a friendly reminder that things move fast in the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys handled their business as well, but concerns about the defense will likely result in a firing as soon as the season ends. The Denver Broncos handled business against the JV Kansas City Chiefs, continuing their hold on the top seed in the AFC. The AFC North is one of the few playoff openings still undecided, but it looks like the Baltimore Ravens will head to take on the Green Bay Packers without Lamar Jackson, but the Packers could be without their top two passers as well. That means Snoop Huntley has a great chance to keep the Ravens alive. It won't matter though if the Pittsburgh Steelers handle the Cleveland Browns. The issue is, the Steelers have a weird tendency to mess up these games. Wild Card seeding is still up in the air too and the Houston Texans matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers could have a major impact on opening matchups, but the Texans defensive line should give them an advantage in this one. Staying in the AFC South, the Jacksonville Jaguars are the hottest team in the league, but Philip Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts will pull off a humbling upset this weekend. For the Steelers, DK Metcalf was suspended for two games, but will appeal, after an incident with a fan. This comes when the Steelers need one more win to seal the playoffs. The Ravens, who lost Lamar Jackson on Sunday Night Football, could be missing him going forward with a back contusion. This could mean the end of John Harbaugh as Ravens coach if they miss the dance. In the NFC, two playoff spots are still up for grabs. A wild card spot for the Green Bay Packers or Detroit Lions, and then a divisional home game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Carolina Panthers. The New England Patriots are officially BACK as they clinch a playoff spot with a win over the Baltimore Ravens. For the Ravens, this puts them on their last leg and with Lamar Jackson's status up in the air, it could be the end for their chances.
