At this stag of the offseason, they have simply lost too much on the roster to be considered favorites to repeat and may be smelling their own salts a bit too much to take the necessary action. The Philadelphia Eagles are hoping to get back to the big game, but have let their defensive talent fall off too much for that to happen. In Baltimore, not only have the Ravens let their reputation take a hit, but their roster talent has as well. The Detroit Lions fell off hard in 2025 and so far it is hard to say they have taken the necessary action to get them back in the playoffs in 2026. Jacksonville is hoping to take a step forward this season, but their offseason has been too much about resting on their laurels as they let talent leave for nothing. Kyler Murray is the biggest winner of free agency in the NFL so far for obvious reasons. Not only does he get to rehab his image with Minnesota Vikings, but he also gets to do it while being paid tons of money by his former team, the Arizona Cardinals. It is a perfect halfway house for Murray at this time. Similarly, Justin Fields will be changing teams and going from one of the worst organizations, the New York Jets, to one of the best in the Kansas City Chiefs. This gives him a great chance to repair his image and grow as a player without much pressure. From a team perspective, the Los Angeles Rams CRUSHED free agency by getting a cornerback via trade and via a signing. Snagging Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson was brilliant for a team that needed real help at the spot. With the first week of NFL Free Agency in the books it is time to look back at the winners and losers, starting with the San Francisco 49ers who hit big with their signing of Mike Evans and their trade for Osa Odighizuwa. This sets them up to make a big push back to the top of the NFC. The Pittsburgh Steelers also did well to build up their roster even if they can't have championship aspirations in 2026. Big losers include the Jacksonville Jaguars who did not actively improve their roster while also losing some key talent, but they are joined by the Houston Texans in that category. The Baltimore Ravens did the unthinkable on Tuesday night when they backed out of the Maxx Crosby trade. The New York Jets have their quarterback for 2026 and it is a reunion with Geno Smith after the Las Vegas Raiders sent the veteran in a pick swap back to where he was drafted.
