Welcome back to episode four of the freshest, fastest and flyest cycling podcast of 2024, hosted by Michael Leach and Jesse Smith.   In today’s episode, Jesse introduces us to The Hoosier Down Country Race and dives deep into his Mohican 100 race recap, which will include tips from the nutrition strategy that Michael and Jesse developed in the lead up to his 2nd NUE race of 2024.    We talk the NUE series, The Dead Swede Gravel Race, Jesse’s feelings on the current state of gravel, mid-season breaks, cooked legs and big training blocks.   We’ll also learn about Jesse’s experience racing the Roval Control SL Team LTD wheels—and the pride he felt being one of the lucky few to receive a pair of the latest, lightest and fastest mountain bike wheels from Specialized.    Light, loose, conversational and unscripted, it’s time to jump back in the saddle.    Let’s ride.    Follow us on social and we’d be grateful if you give us a five-star review (only if you’re feeling it and if not, don’t bother).  Instagram:  @jesse_bicyclestation @michaelleachba   Show website: https://www.ajoeandapro.com/   For more Jesse Smith content: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8qX3hDnrR-YyLxkYxLV5WA   For more Michael Leach content: https://beaudacious.com/   The best and baddest bike shop in the business https://www.thebicyclestation.com/ @thebicyclestation   To listen to The Bounce Forward Podcast: https://beaudacious.com/podcast/   For Michael’s human performance, mindset and endurance coaching:  https://beaudacious.com/coaching/   Michael’s Leadville100-First Descents story and fundraising page:  https://support.firstdescents.org/fundraiser/5198318   Intro/Outro music by Coma-Media on  Pixbay.com: https://pixabay.com/music/beats-drop-it-124014/
Welcome to episode three of the freshest, fastest and flyest cycling podcast of 2024, hosted by Michael Leach and Jesse Smith.   In today’s episode Michael and Jesse will talk about the Mohican 100, exploring Jesse’s new fueling and nutrition strategy for this NUE Series race—we’re talking glucose and fructose folks. We’ll also get into the weeds of Michael’s Cutthroat conundrum, a messy challenge made more confusing by the Cutthroat’s post mount brake design. Michael and Jesse discuss a dilemma facing many riders, spend money upgrading an outdated bike that you love, or get something new, fresh and updated—often a steep ask without breaking the bank.    Lastly, we’ll pick Jesse’s brain on the new Cervelo Aspero (is this the gravel bike you should buy?!) and Jesse makes a bold proclimation now that he’s had some time in saddle of the Aspero. And of course, we’ll talk tires and in this case, we’ll focus on the super fast, but squirrely Schwalbe Thunder Burt’s.   Light and loose, it’s time to jump back in the saddle. Let’s ride.    Follow us on social and we’d be grateful if you give us a five-star review (only if you’re feeling it and if not, don’t bother).  Instagram:  @jesse_bicyclestation @michaelleachba   Show website: https://www.ajoeandapro.com/   For more Jesse Smith content: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8qX3hDnrR-YyLxkYxLV5WA   For more Michael Leach content: https://beaudacious.com/   The best and baddest bike shop in the business https://www.thebicyclestation.com/ @thebicyclestation   To listen to The Bounce Forward Podcast: https://beaudacious.com/podcast/   For Michael’s human performance, mindset and endurance coaching:  https://beaudacious.com/coaching/   Michael’s Leadville100-First Descents story and fundraising page:  https://support.firstdescents.org/fundraiser/5198318   Intro/Outro music by Coma-Media on  Pixbay.com: https://pixabay.com/music/beats-drop-it-124014/
Welcome to episode two of the freshest, fastest and flyest cycling podcast of 2024, hosted by Michael Leach and Jesse Smith.   In this episode we’ll introduce listeners to the Karst Crusher (a dirty bike race in Columbus, Indiana put on by The Bicycle Station) before taking a deep dive into what makes Sram’s new Flight Attendant so special, how Sram continues to kill it with innovation, why the Sram ecosystem is revolutionary and more. We’ll also talk about the new Cervelo Aspero and touch upon the Specialized’s release of the Epic 8. Today’s show starts with Jesse sharing some of the highs and lows of navigating life as a bike shop owner, racer and event organizer.    Lastly, Michael and Jesse—two mountain bikers with an affinity and love for drop bar mountain bikes—will discuss turning Michael’s Allied BC40 into a drop bar Mtb for one of the West’s baddest gravel races.      The sun is shining, the dirt is calling. Let’s ride!    Follow us on social and we’d be grateful if you give us a five-star review (only if you’re feeling it and if not, don’t bother).  Instagram:  @jesse_bicyclestation @michaelleachba   Show website: https://www.ajoeandapro.com/   For more Jesse Smith content: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8qX3hDnrR-YyLxkYxLV5WA   For more Michael Leach content: https://beaudacious.com/   The best and baddest bike shop in the business https://www.thebicyclestation.com/ @thebicyclestation   The Karst Crusher bike race  To listen to The Bounce Forward Podcast: https://beaudacious.com/podcast/   For Michael’s human performance, mindset and endurance coaching:  https://beaudacious.com/coaching/   Michael’s Leadville100-First Descents story and fundraising page:  https://support.firstdescents.org/fundraiser/5198318   Intro/Outro music by Coma-Media on  Pixbay.com: https://pixabay.com/music/beats-drop-it-124014/
Welcome to the freshest, fastest and flyest cycling podcast of 2024, hosted by Michael Leach and Jesse Smith.   In this first episode we’ll talk about Jesse’s prolific early season race schedule, hitting up all the knobby tired spring classics in his part of the world. We’re going diving into his strong finishes at the Ozark Doom and Cohutta 100. We’ll share a little teaser of the Enve Mog vs Specialized World Cup drop bar video that will be released soon on the Bicycle Station Youtube channel. We’ll talk about Jesse’s loose training schedule, his fueling strategies and we’ll also explore pedals—platform pedals (not flats), platforms vs. your standard clipless setup, for gravel and for Leadville this summer.     Let’s ride!
