That’s consequential because it is the visible sign that God is dwelling amongst his redeemed people! Without a doubt there is only one God and we are not Him. He created us. He breathed life into us. He calls us to become what He wants us to be and only then can we do what He wants us to do. Pastor James Kaddis is nearing the conclusion of a study in Exodus, with an eye on chapter 37 today. We’re about to discover why it’s so important and critical that we follow God’s instructions, with no deviations. We see a great example of this in the building of the Ark of the Covenant, as it was built exactly the way God wanted. If they didn’t follow the letter of the law, the nation of Israel wouldn’t be able to worship God as He intended.

So glad you’ve joined us, as we pick up where we left off in Mark’s gospel chapter two. We’ll start with verse fourteen, where Jesus calls a despised tax collector to come and follow Him. That would seem like a strange pick to many in that day, as tax collectors were a hated bunch. So why would He do that? Let’s explore that together now.

It is a myth to believe that God will never give us more than we can handle, because the reality is our lives are filled with circumstances that are far beyond our ability to navigate. And those are opportunities for us to lean on the Lord and draw on His resources, and by the Spirit. Today on Light on the Hill we’ll be encouraged by a group of people that did exactly what God commanded. And the impossible work was done by a miraculous God!

God very often allows us to face the impossible so that He might demonstrate His power on our behalf, making possible what is otherwise impossible. Exodus chapter 36 gives us a great picture of this as the people of Israel were given a task that was far beyond their own capacity, yet by the filling and empowering of the Spirit of God the work was accomplished in a miraculous way.
