Asalamu Alaykum friends!! I'm going to skip the redundant apology for ghosting the podcast and jump to the exciting stuff: new episode with a new guestttt. I always love hearing about people's different paths to Islam, whether born Muslim or revert, and this story is special to me because of who it belongs to :) Eliana is one of the sweetest, most genuine souls you will ever meet, and I thought it was only right for one of my #1 supporters to get her story out there. May Allah reward all of our revert sisters and brothers, for the struggles that they share, and the ones left untold <3
Islam encompasses multiple aspects of health and wellness. We have the physical, the emotional, the mental, and the spiritual. This first episode of a 3-part series is focused on the physical, the way that we should be taking care of our bodies.
Do ya'll got a revert author friend? Because I do! Allahuma Barak, Brittany has been a good friend of mine for a while now, having accepted Islam in August of 2022. Her story is one worth sharing, and although I wish I could give you all the details, you guys are going to have to wait until June 2025 to read her autobiography titled "The Call," which she wrote all about her amazing journey. Until then, you can enjoy snippets of her story through this author Q&A that I had the honor of facilitating.
p.s. Brittany has her own podcast called "The Melanated Muslimah." Go check it out! I may or may not be featured in one of her upcoming episodes.
Sooo...*insert nervous laughing emoji*, I may or may not have ghosted you guys for 4 months but I promise I missed the podcast just as much as you! There are so many different things happening in life which are keeping my hands full, but that is no excuse to go this long with nothing posted. InshaAllah I will hopefully figure out a routine that works, and post more often than I have been.
On a much happier note, we have our favorite time of the year coming up very very soon. Do your research, learn why Ramadan holds so much signigficance, and don't be of those that say "I wish I had done more this Ramadan" because you are not guaranteed to see another.
Ramadan Kareem everyone <3
It's been some time *insert nervous laughing emoji* but I couldn't be happier to be back. Today's episode is a crucial one, as it goes into a topic and section of Islam that is the one of the main misunderstood ones, and also one of the most used to critique and hate on Islam. Knowledge is power, and the more we know, the more we grow *insert wink emoji*.
This one is self-explanatory, Walaa and I get ourselves canceled. JUST KIDDING...we hope *insert nervous sweating emoji*. Like we mention in the beginning of the episode, everything we spoke about were just our personal opinions, and although most of it is backed with Islamic reasoning , at the end of the day we're just having a conversation and if you disagree with anything we had to say, that's perfectly ok. We had a fun time recording, and we're looking forward to hearing what the listener's have to say, so grab a snack, lay back, and enjoy.
This episode explores the profound concepts of rizq (divine provision) and human desires (nafs) within Islamic teachings. What happens when our desires conflict with what has been divinely ordained for us? We'll discuss worshipping one's desires, a critical topic highlighting how unchecked desires can become idols that distance us from our spiritual path. Join me as I try to explain the navigation between fulfilling natural human inclinations and maintaining devotion to Allah, and understanding how self-restraint and awareness can lead to a more spiritually aligned life.
In today's episode, we circle back to the topic of haya, a concept we delved into a few episodes back and took the time to explain thoroughly. Once you've understood it, the next question is how to manifest it in your everyday life. Sports? School? Interactions with the opposite gender? We discuss all 3 aspects and I give you my personal opinions and advice on the matter.
Come down memory lane with me and one of my most beloved sisters as we talk you through our entire Umrah journey from start to finish. It was rocky to record and even rougher to edit, but I hope that through our very long conversation, we were able to share with you one of the best times of our lives!
We finally did it! After a not-so-smooth recording process, and almost 4 weeks later, my mom and I managed to get this episode out for you guys and I ask Allah to make it beneficial and worthwhile of your time. The first 20ish minutes or so are from a few weeks ago, and the remaining chunk is the actual q&a part. I hope you're planning on going on a long drive or doing some serious deep cleaning! Tune in now :)
In today’s episode, we briefly go over the concept of mahrams in Islam. What is it? Who are they? What’s their significance? It’s more than just who you don’t have to wear hijab in front of!
In this episode, we explore the concept of haya, or shame/bashfulness, in Islam. We delve into its meaning, significance, why it is esteemed, and what insights the Quran and Sunnah offer on this virtue. This foundational episode sets the stage for an upcoming discussion on practical ways to embody haya in daily life. We'll focus on its application in contexts such as women in sports, conduct in academia, and appropriate interactions with the opposite gender. Tune in to gain insights into this vital aspect of our faith.
Today's episode ties in with the last, discussing how to balance the knowledge that Qadr, aka the decree of Allah, knows that we will continue repeating a sin, and taking accountability for those actions. We talk about the power of du'a and how it ties into this concept of qadr, creating a connection between the three concepts. Tune in to hear what I have to say about this crucial topic!
In this episode, I respond to a dilemma that not only belongs to it's submitter, but every single one of us. Falling back into a sin you've tried to overcome time and time again. What do we do? How do we get better? How can we prevent it? Tune in to listen to advice I found as well as advice of my own that has personally helped me.
In this episode I go more in depth regarding a certain belief that I had briefly mentioned in my previous episode, Quranism. I explain what it is, what the scholars say about them, and why. Tune in to learn more about this not very well-known group of people!
In this episode of the Ayat Al-Nur podcast, join your host, Wesal, as we explore the complex relationship between social media and the hijab. We'll discuss the impact of online representation, specifically via influencers, and the risks faced for both the producer and consumer.
I’ll talk about two TikTok videos that sparked this conversation—one encouraging incorrect hijab, and one speaking about posting hijabless pictures. Tune in for my thoughts on the matter and some insight you may have never considered before.
