"It was like we just kept missing each other." There was a lot discussed in this episode but I think these words rang the loudest for me. We sometimes take moments for granted and then when we realize we can't get them back, it almost stings just as much as realizing the person that we love has transitioned. Alisha dives into her first marriage and the twists and turns they experienced. She also talks about the unaliving of her brother and how her son was there to witness it.
Jasmine shares the story of how when her birth mother became pregnant, she didn't tell a soul and how the other 2 people who learned about the pregnancy discovered it on accident. Surprisingly enough, her birth father was not one of those people! She tells us about growing up with an adopted family, the uncertainty around her own identity and much much more!
Jonell shares her story of both her and her mother battling Breast Cancer. Jonell was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and she shares how prior to being diagnosed she was an advocate for women who were battling due to her mother's diagnosis. Little did she know that everything she learned during the process would be what she needed when it was her time to fight. I'm so thankful to her for sharing her story with us and I believe that it will be encouraging to those that tune in!
We often talk about SA and its trauma but it is rare to hear the parent's experience of what has happened in their home.
