Hugh Massie is often referred to as the Money Energy Pioneer. This comes after 20+ years of helming the only behavior & money insights company, which he founded to discover, measure and manage the hidden influences of behavior and money energy forces on decision-making, performance and relationships. Hugh came to this work after a journey as a “reformed CPA” and wealth manager, having learned that good decision-making was centered in self-awareness of one’s own (innate) behavioral identity – and a healthy relationship with money. The tech he has developed benefits 2.0 million+ people annually in 125 countries & 11 languages. In fact, since 2001, DNA Behavior has enabled teams and advisors to leverage 4,000+ behavior and money insights, via their own tech stacks, ISV or otherwise. Hugh is an award-winning author, most recently of the whitepaper, “Mastering Your Money Energy,” which helps advisors, coaches and others learn how to measure money energy, as well as understand its significance for every area of life. As most of you know I’m a father. I have two beautiful daughters who are 21 and 22 respectively. They have grown into amazing young women, and I could not be more proud. As a result of being their Dad I’ve been able to watch some of their friends grow as well.
One such friend is Summer Tennison. Summer just graduated from The University of Alabama, and is now entering into the next chapter of her life. As such, she has decided to devote her life to her faith and the betterment of young women everywhere.
It’s her heart’s cry to share the message of faith, Jesus and authentic womanhood with women-particularly those at the pivotal stage of life-post adolescence.
This was such a great conversation with a young woman wise beyond her years. Summer has just launched a new podcast called ‘For the One and For the One Listening.’ You can find a link to the show HERE.
I hope you’ll have a listen to not only my conversation with Summer but her new show as well. Merry Christmas!

Happy Father’s Day! My buddy John Landes just became a father for the first time. So I sat down with him and discussed how it was going.
Also, my long-time friend Jason Smith was kind enough to send some thoughts on what fatherhood meant to him. As always he delivered great wisdom.
To all the Dads out there Happy Father’s Day!!
It was 1996. The clock ticked down on the last high school football game I would ever play. We lost in the second round of the Texas AAAA playoffs. It didn’t matter that the season was over and we’d lost. Win or lose, a tradition remained no matter what the score reflected. Win or lose, to God be the glory.
My high school football coach James Cameron, who stood about 6 ‘4 “, would head to the center of the field and hold his hand up and say, “Everybody up.” Then we’d all gather, take a knee, bow our heads and recite the Lord’s prayer.
As a southern boy growing up in the buckle of the Bible belt I knew the Lord’s prayer before I knew how to do multiplication. It was tattooed to my memory like my ABC’s or ‘Now I lay me down to sleep.”
The Lord’s prayer is from one of Jesus’ sermons in which he taught his disciples how to pray. There is one line in which Jesus says, “Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”
What does Jesus mean by this? Well, I want to confess I’m no Biblical scholar nor am I a man of the cloth. I’m just one of those ole good for nothing Christians. My old southern Baptist brethren will get that joke. To the rest of you, my apologies.
I do however know what Jesus is teaching in this passage. He’s saying to live and act here on earth today as though we were already in the kingdom of heaven. Bring the actions and characteristics of Heaven to this earth.
What if we decided to bring our dreams to the present in the same way by taking action today? For example, when I think of my ideal future, I imagine getting up, doing some reading and writing, going for a long walk and then researching human performance so I can later teach it to others and making enough money to support my lifestyle.
I also want to share messages to a broad audience through a podcast that will keep me on my game, help me build an audience for the courses I want to teach and the books I want to write. So how do I make this happen?
Well, currently I get up and do some reading and writing. I go for a long walk then I do some research on human performance. I take that research and create courses for my Vitruvian Lab app. I also have a podcast called the Jason Wright Show where the motto is “improve always in ALL ways.”
Am I making enough money doing these things to fund my lifestyle? I am not. Is this a reason to not do them? It certainly is not. Will it cause me to be better prepared for that day when it comes? You bet.
Are we living in Heaven? No we are not. That’s for the future. So is the day I’m able to fully monetize my ideal day. That’s for the future. Just because something currently exists in the future doesn’t mean I can’t start behaving the way I plan to when that future trades places with today’s present.
Many people will tell you to envision your future. Think about it in order to try to manifest it. I think this is only a tiny piece of the puzzle. Action is what leads to reality. When we start acting out our future, that ideal future slowly gets pulled closer and closer into the present. The best part is if we do this long enough, the future will start pulling us toward it.
There’s some who take an all or nothing approach. They refuse to take even the smallest action toward their future. They think they will write their novel when they retire. John Grisham was an attorney when he was writing his first chapters.
They think they have to have enough money to buy the special equipment their dream entails. Adam Yout, one of the original Beastie Boys made his first synthesizer with old recording parts before he’d ever sold an album.
Just because an activity you enjoy is not paying the bills today doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it with the hope and belief...
*****My apologies for the poor sound quality. I had to use backup audio because the primary was even worse. Blame the host not the guest!***** BUT Thanks to Jay Yow, Producer of The James Altucher Show, it’s much better than it could have been. Thank you Jay!
Alright so few medications have made such a stir in the health and wellness space like the drug Ozempic (Semaglutide) has over the past year.
Nearly all of us know someone who we haven’t seen in a while. Then we we do see them we are almost shocked at their appearance. What used to cause us to say, “Oh my gosh! Are you ok?” Now yields responses like, “Oh wow. Are you taking Ozempic?”
So what is this “wonder drug?” Is it all it’s cracked up to be? Is it too good to be true? Have we finally cracked the code in helping people who are severely metabolically challenged?
The short answer is-yes. These peptides are truly remarkable. Disclosure-I have NO incentive to promote these drugs. In fact, let me say at the onset I am NOT a physician. I am just a guy who geeks out on longevity, health and wellness.
That’s why I brought in my friend Dr. Gus Vickery. This is his wheelhouse. Who exactly is Dr. Gus?

So Sunday February 19th I turn 48. I don’t like birthdays. They are simply a reminder I’m not as young as I feel. However, they are a time to reflect on what has transpired thus far in one’s life. Here’s a little of what I’ve learned.
You will survive almost every tragedy that befalls you
You DON’T have to try to make people like you. Just be the type of person it’s easy to like
It takes more energy to hate than to forgive
You will never have enough money to do all the things you want to do
True joy comes from experiences not things
Developing skills and pursuing activities that make you a better person but no money at all are indeed worthwhile
Loving with full abandon is the surest way to keep your spouse happy
When cooking a steak, trust the process. Don’t check the meat every minute. Find the time and temperature that works and trust the process
People will always disappoint you. They’re human. That’s what humans do
It’s okay to be a nobody in the world’s eyes. What matter is being a somebody your wife and children can depend on
“He who conquers his mind conquers the world.”
Contentment is the brass ring not the brass ring
Age is in fact just a number. How you feel is what matters most
Stay active. It’s magical how amazing being healthy feels
Not drinking alcohol is awesome
If you smile at the world, more times than not it will smile back at you. Sounds cheesy, but it’s true
Divine appointments are real. I’ve had more than I can count
Managing the distance between action and reaction can change everything
Trying to control others is pointless. You can only control yourself
You don’t need nor can explain the actions of others. Leave it to them. You are only accountable for your own actions
Apologize quickly
Being a good listener is far more important than being a good talker
It’s ok to keep your opinion to yourself
It’s ok to disagree with people just do it respectfully
Like C.S. Lewis said, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less.”
I’m sure there’s more. After all, it’s been nearly half a century. However these are 20 of the main lessons I’ve taken from life so far. I can wait to see what the next 48 holds.
So an interesting question came through this week in the Vitruvian Letter. So I did my best to answer. It was a big enough question I thought I’d share it as well as my answer here on the JWS.
If you are not a subscriber of The Vitruvian Letter, you can become one HERE. I hope you will check it out. Thanks for listening.

Keep endeavoring to ‘Improve always in ALL ways!”
I was recently listening to a podcast where Peter Thiel was the guest. Thiel is the billionaire VC investor who was co-Founder of PayPal, the first major investor of Facebook and has become somewhat of an oracle of Silicon Valley.
In this particular conversation he described the day Yahoo offered $1billion for Facebook. This would have grossed Founder Mark Zuckerberg $250MM at the ripe old age of 22. At the time FB had only 100k users, most of which were college students.
Zuckerberg turned down the offer without blinking. The reason why he did is what I focus on in this episode. It gives great insight to what it looks like when you know you’ve found the thing that drives you to such a degree you can’t put a price tag on it-even if that tag is $250MM.
Enjoy!

Also, Brian Johnston aka Liver King has been exposed as a fraud. After multiple denials of using steroids it turns out he in fact has been using them…a lot.
I help you get to the root cause of your emotional pain, limiting beliefs, and negative thought patterns and reclaim your joy.
I’m on a mission to help people understand their symptoms don’t always mean there’s something wrong with them and that the traditional model of medicine isn’t the only tool at our disposal for emotional healing.
Doctors treat anxiety and depression with medication to help alleviate symptoms. But this approach doesn’t address the root cause of why you feel this way. Throughout my nursing career, I noticed that this approach doesn’t always give people the real and lasting change they’re looking for.
My holistic and intuitive approach to addressing these overwhelming feelings is designed to go deeper and equip you with the tools to experience that lasting change. It combines root cause and subconscious work, emotional release, and conversational energy work to help people just like you overcome their inner obstacles and become the best version of themselves.
How do I know it works? Because I struggled with anxiety, depression, and overwhelm for years until I found these methods.
Together, we’ll get to the root cause of your emotional pain and change your beliefs, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors so you can experience the happiness and freedom you’ve craved for so long.

Maximizing Muscle Growth and Performance: The Science Behind Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training
In the ever-evolving landscape of fitness and exercise science, one method has been gaining significant attention for its potential to enhance muscle growth and performance: Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training. This innovative technique involves the use of specialized cuffs or wraps to partially restrict blood flow to the muscles during exercise, leading to a cascade of physiological responses that can yield impressive results. Let’s delve into the benefits of BFR training backed by research, including insights from Dr. Jeremy Loenneke, a leading expert in the field.
Understanding Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training
BFR training, also known as occlusion training, involves wrapping a device—typically a specialized cuff or band—around the limb (usually the upper arms or thighs) to partially restrict blood flow while performing resistance exercises. This restriction is carefully controlled to reduce venous return without fully occluding arterial flow, creating a unique metabolic environment within the muscles.
Enhanced Muscle Growth with Lighter Loads
One of the most compelling benefits of BFR training is its ability to stimulate muscle growth even with lighter loads, which can be particularly beneficial for individuals recovering from injury or those unable to lift heavy weights. Research conducted by Dr. Loenneke and his colleagues has demonstrated that BFR training with low-intensity resistance exercises can produce similar gains in muscle size and strength compared to traditional high-load resistance training.
Increased Muscle Protein Synthesis
BFR training has been shown to amplify muscle protein synthesis, the process by which muscle fibers repair and grow in response to exercise-induced damage. By creating a hypoxic environment within the muscle, BFR triggers a robust metabolic response, leading to an upregulation of anabolic pathways responsible for muscle repair and growth.
Improved Endurance and Metabolic Conditioning
In addition to promoting muscle hypertrophy, BFR training can also enhance endurance and metabolic conditioning. The occlusion of blood flow during exercise leads to a buildup of metabolic byproducts such as lactate and hydrogen ions, which act as potent stimuli for muscle adaptation. As a result, individuals engaging in BFR training may experience improvements in both aerobic and anaerobic fitness, making it a valuable tool for athletes looking to optimize their performance.
Accelerated Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention
BFR training has emerged as a promising adjunct therapy for accelerating rehabilitation and reducing the risk of reinjury. By stimulating muscle growth and strength with minimal joint stress, BFR allows individuals to initiate early resistance training following injury or surgery, promoting faster recovery and restoring functional capacity. Furthermore, the ability to achieve significant muscular adaptations with lighter loads can help mitigate the risk of overloading injured tissues during the rehabilitation process.
Safety Considerations and Practical Applications
While BFR training offers numerous benefits, it’s essential to approach it with caution and adhere to established safety guidelines. Proper cuff placement, pressure regulation, and exercise selection are crucial for minimizing the risk of adverse effects such as nerve damage or blood clots. Additionally, individuals with certain medical conditions or contraindications should consult with a qualified healthcare professional before incorporating BFR training into their regimen.

Dr. Peter Attia’s Referenced Article HERE
In the pursuit of health and wellness, managing body composition is often overlooked or misunderstood. Yet, it’s a crucial aspect that can significantly impact our overall well-being. One of the fundamental concepts in body composition management is understanding the difference between subcutaneous fat and non-subcutaneous fat, and the importance of maintaining adequate lean body mass through weight training and proper nutrition.
Subcutaneous Fat vs. Non-Subcutaneous Fat: What’s the Difference?
Subcutaneous fat refers to the fat stored directly under the skin. It’s the fat you can pinch and feel. While excess subcutaneous fat can affect your appearance and self-esteem, it’s generally less harmful to health compared to non-subcutaneous fat.
Non-subcutaneous fat, on the other hand, includes visceral fat and fat stored around organs. This type of fat poses more significant health risks as it’s associated with various metabolic disorders, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and certain cancers. Unlike subcutaneous fat, visceral fat is not visible and requires more attention for effective management.
The Importance of Maintaining Lean Body Mass
Lean body mass encompasses everything in your body except for fat – muscles, bones, organs, and fluids. Preserving lean body mass is vital for several reasons:
Metabolic Health: Lean muscle mass plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism. The more muscle you have, the more calories your body burns at rest, making weight management more manageable.
Functional Strength: Building and maintaining muscle strength is essential for performing daily activities with ease and reducing the risk of injury, particularly as we age.
Bone Health: Resistance training, which is often used to build lean muscle mass, also strengthens bones, reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.
The Role of Weight Training and Protein Consumption
Weight training, or resistance training, is one of the most effective ways to increase lean body mass. By challenging your muscles with progressively heavier weights, you stimulate muscle growth and improve overall body composition.
In addition to exercise, adequate protein intake is essential for muscle repair and growth. Aim for a balanced diet that includes lean protein sources such as chicken, fish, tofu, beans, and dairy products. The exact amount of protein needed varies based on factors like age, sex, and activity level, but a general guideline is around 0.8-1 gram of protein per kilogram of body weight per day for most adults.
Managing body composition is about more than just aesthetics; it’s about optimizing health and well-being. Understanding the difference between subcutaneous and non-subcutaneous fat empowers you to make informed choices about your lifestyle and dietary habits. By prioritizing weight training and consuming adequate protein, you can maintain lean body mass, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and enhance overall quality of life.

I serve as a Psychedelic Guide, Transformational Coach, Public Speaker, Community Builder, and Psychedelic Policy Advocate.
Early on in my professional career, I was working in finance and struggling with depression, alcohol abuse, and lacked real purpose in life. On January 31, 2017, while sitting at my desk, in a moment marked by fate, I stood up and quit my career on the spot. Four days later I participated in my first plant medicine ceremony and a new chapter in my life began.
I went on to become an apprentice, assisting in hundreds of plant medicine ceremonies that served thousands of individuals where I learned the art of guiding. As a guide in my own practice, I have worked with hundreds of individuals in 1-1 plant medicine ceremonies since 2019. Recently, I served on the State of Colorado’s Natural Medicine Advisory Board’s various Subcommittees helping to establish the nation’s second legal psychedelic therapy licensure model and facilitator training curriculum.
I’ve participated in many initiations and rites of passage, leading myself and other men and women through major transformational experiences. Woven together, the depth of my experience as a guide serves each and every client with whom I work. My passion and purpose in life are defined by my will to live and love as a free being, awake and alive to all that life has to offer. While inspiring others to do the same.
In this “Best of the Web” installment, I cover three topics from three experts. First, is Milton Friedman describing the famous Adam Smith explanation on labor distribution using the pencil analogy. This is an EXCELLENT way to help people easily understand the concept of a free market system.Next, I look to Dr. Rhonda Patrick to explain the importance of getting enough protein especially as we age. Finally, I recap a small portion of my conversation with Hugh Massie, the Founder and Chairman of DNA Behavior International. I hope you find these “Best of” installments useful. They are meant to be little intellectual snacks. Thanks for listening!
In our rapidly changing world, where information and options are abundant, it can be challenging to stand out and remain relevant. However, there is an exceptional position one can attain—the position of being so valuable that others won’t go elsewhere for advice or influence. This coveted status brings numerous benefits, including customer loyalty and personal significance. In this blog post, we will explore the statistics on maintaining customers versus acquiring new ones and delve into the profound impact we have as the one and only person in someone’s life, be it as a father, mother, or employer.
The Importance of Customer Retention:According to numerous studies, maintaining existing customers is significantly more cost-effective than acquiring new ones. It has been found that acquiring a new customer can cost up to five times more than retaining an existing one. Additionally, increasing customer retention rates by as little as 5% can boost profits by 25% to 95%. These figures underscore the value of building long-term relationships and becoming the go-to person for advice and influence.
Being the One and Only:In each person’s life, there are roles that cannot be replicated or replaced. As a father, mother, employer, or even a close friend, we hold a unique position that provides us with the opportunity to shape and influence others in profound ways. When someone considers us as the one and only person to seek guidance, support, or inspiration, it signifies the depth of trust they have in us.
Father/Mother:As parents, we have an immense responsibility to our children. We are their role models, mentors, and sources of unwavering love. Research shows that children who have involved and supportive parents are more likely to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. The impact we have as parents is immeasurable, and by being there for our children, we become irreplaceable influences in their lives.
Employer:In the workplace, as an employer or supervisor, we possess the ability to create an environment that nurtures and motivates our employees. When we genuinely care about their professional growth, well-being, and success, we become indispensable. Studies consistently demonstrate that employees who feel valued and supported by their superiors show higher levels of engagement, productivity, and loyalty. By being the go-to person for guidance and mentorship, we establish ourselves as a source of inspiration and stability in their career journey.
Trusted Advisor:Beyond familial and professional relationships, there are countless other areas where we can become the go-to person for advice and influence. It could be as a mentor, coach, or a friend with whom someone feels comfortable sharing their vulnerabilities and seeking guidance. By providing consistent support, empathy, and wisdom, we become an invaluable asset in their lives, making it unlikely for them to seek advice or influence elsewhere.
Becoming the one and only person in someone’s life is a testament to the value we bring and the impact we have on others. Whether it’s as a parent, employer, mentor, or trusted advisor, the trust and loyalty we inspire can be immeasurable. Not only does being the go-to person foster long-term relationships and customer retention, but it also allows us to make a profound difference in the lives of those we touch. So, let’s strive to become the invaluable individuals that others won’t go elsewhere for advice or influence, and in doing so, let us create a lasting impact on the people around us.
