The month concludes with a pizza party for all 19 guests and for YOU, the listener. Today we are wrapping up and getting advice for the rest of the year, now that pride month is over.  If you're new to the show, this is Exposing the Holes: exposing holes in stereotypes about the 2SLGBTQIA+ stereotypes and each episode features a guest or piece of media that will help expand knowledge of queerness. Please consider making a donation to SisTers PGH, a BLACK and TRANS-led nonprofit organization that serves the Transgender community of Southwestern Pennsylvania.Electronic Donations can be sent to:PayPal.me/SisTersPGHCashApp: $isTersPGHVenmo: SisTers-PGHThroughout the month, I pulled events from the QBurgh calendar. One last issue of Urania for the road (wiki link). This feminist journal was published from 1919 to 1940 and is composed of poems, news clippings, opinions, announcements, and letters related to the issue of a "sex binary" in science, society, and culture. I am so thankful I came across this journal and I think it is important to let queer history inform our present-day conversations. This week I am reading Issue Nos. 115 & 116, January-April 1936 (pdf). It includes "An Authentic Change of Sex" of Zdeněk Koubek, the author Winifred Holtby, "Jesus Ignored Sex," Dr. Margaret Mead’s Sex and Temperament, women’s suffrage in Japan, and a trans book of essays called Eve’s Sour Apples. All events mentioned are pulled directly from the QBurgh calendar. Please consider making a donation to SisTers PGH, a BLACK and TRANS-led nonprofit organization that serves the Transgender community of Southwestern Pennsylvania.Electronic Donations can be sent to:PayPal.me/SisTersPGHCashApp: $isTersPGHVenmo: SisTers-PGHYou can find all other links for Nermer Nermer Network at linktr.ee/nermernermer, including the Feedback Form and links to other shows on the network including our movie watching show The Ole Switcheroo! Brokeback Mountain has 17 letters and so does GAAAAAAAAAAAY. Coincidence? Today I'm reviewing the completely perfect (no notes) movie Brokeback Fucking Mountain (2005) by Ang Lee. If you haven't seen it, you should, if for no other reason than you should know what everyone is talking about. Welcome to AP Exposing the Holes. Cass will be in charge of today's education, all about the highly banned book Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe. They hold an English degree, which is useful for things like "read book for friend's podcast." Thanks for being here! The month is so close to being over. I've sweat through 3 shirts already today and my eyes and ears are bleeding from editing all these podcast episodes. It's not too late to make it to some events though--all the events I mentioned at the end of the episode are pulled from the QBurgh events page. The song at the end is called Clown Music btw.Clown Music by Seth_Makes_Sounds -- https://freesound.org/s/677166/ -- License: Creative Commons 0 Cass mentioned a couple folks during the episode, namely Karma Chávez and Cherríe Moraga. They also mentioned the essay "Toward a Rhetoric of Body as Space" by Kelly A Moreland. Today's episode is another installment of the publication Urania (wiki link). It was a feminist journal published from 1919 to 1940 focused on providing evidence of equality between sexes by eradicating the binary sex system. I find it to be a startling presentation of concepts that are still considered radical in modern day projected onto stories that are distinctly 100 years old.  This week I am reading the double issue Nos. 79 & 80 , January-April 1930 (pdf). It includes "Marriage is Taboo" about the Guangdong Province, and a story about Ryōkan. The story I removed was "Synthetic Religion" (which is anti-semitic Nazi doctrine by Ernst Graf zu Reventlow). Today, another issue from the feminist journal Urania (wiki link, published from 1919-1940). I am so glad the Women’s Library at the London School of Economics published Urania online in 2023 so that a journal with a small circulation (aroud 250 copies) could reach new audiences in 2025.
