How can Extension professionals communicate about climate and changing weather patterns in ways that are practical, credible, and relevant to the communities they serve? Dr. Blake Carter moderates a panel featuring Dr. Ginger Orton, Dr. Leslie Boby, and Dr. Pam Knox. Together, they explore climate-smart land management, drought and forestry resilience, weather trends affecting Southeastern agriculture, and strategies for navigating challenging climate conversations with diverse audiences.

Blake Carter and Wade Parker (UGA Extension Southeast District Area Agronomy Agent) discussed mid-season management across corn, soybeans, cotton, and peanuts. Key themes included irrigation timing for corn, R3-stage soybean pest thresholds, late-planted cotton nitrogen management, and escalating concerns about goosegrass resistance, deer pressure, and Jassid monitoring. Two upcoming events were announced: Mid-Year Cotton Meeting (July 29, Statesboro) and Midville Field Day (August 12).
