Description

A former public defender, Jenin Younes is a civil liberties attorney and writer in Washington, D.C. She is known for her work opposing Covid-19 restrictions and defending free speech, both through writing and litigation. She brought numerous challenges to Covid-19 vaccine mandates, obtained a preliminary injunction against California's law preventing doctors from giving patients advice about Covid-related matters that departs from the "scientific consensus," and was part of the team that brought Murthy v. Missouri --a case challenging government involvement in social media censorship--to the Supreme Court. She has appeared on countless podcasts and radio and television shows, and has had her writing published in the Wall Street Journal, Tablet, and The Free Press, among other news outlets. On this podcast, Jenin discusses controversial, topical issues with other outspoken nonconformists and freethinkers, to expose her audience to new ideas and ways of looking at the world.

Jayanta Bhattacharya is a Professor of Medicine at Stanford University. In October of 2020, he co-authored the Great Barrington Declaration, which eschewed lockdowns due to the harm they inflict on children and young adults, especially compared to the minor risk those demographics face from the virus itself. Despite his credentials, Dr. Bhattacharya learned--after Elon Musk gave him access to the Twitter Files--that he had been placed on a "trends blacklist." This censorship was the result of demands the White House, and quite possibly Dr. Fauci, had placed on social media companies to suppress speech that questioned the government's messaging on Covid-19, prompting Dr. Bhattacharya to become a plaintiff in Missouri v. Biden, which wound up in the Supreme Court. On this episode, he and Jenin discuss the Supreme Court's recent decision in the case, and the problematic implications for free speech and scientific inquiry.Help support Courting Controversy on Patreon and gain access to exclusive content: https://www.patreon.com/JeninYounesSubscribe to the Illusion of Consensus Podcast to follow Jay's work: https://www.illusionconsensus.com/podcastFollow Jay on X: https://x.com/DrJBhattacharyaFollow Jenin on X: https://x.com/JeninYounesEsqFollow Jenin on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jeninyounesesq/Watch Courting Controversy on YouTube: www.youtube.com/courtingcontroversywithjeninWatch Courting Controversy on Rumble: https://rumble.com/user/JeninYounesEsqListen to Courting Controversy on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/courting-controversy-with-jenin-younes/id1754874846Listen to Courting Controversy on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4FwAmhckuL9cmsdj7ZkyBS
