disappointing that the story was prologued with the same, long discredited lies that were used to sell the invasion of Iraq. it didn't add any useful context and it certainly doesn't make the narrator a sympathetic character. what was the purpose of parroting jingoistic bullshit? i guess it did end up lining up with the narrative trope of Arabs as literal inhuman hordes.
i started picturing the synchronized gestures as people doing the macarena and then couldn't get the visual out of my head
