제 1화 햇살이 눈부신 아침, 지아는 눈을 뜨기가 어렵다. 요즘 다시 나타난 약간의 어지럼증을 가라앉혀보고자 어제 밤 자기 전에 복용한 메클리진이 아직까지 효과가 지속되는 모양이다. 그래도 레아를 깨워서 써머스쿨을 보내기 위해 준비를 시켜야 하므로 힘들게 몸을 일으켜 레아를 깨웠다. 우리 아기 예쁜 아기 이제 일어날 시간이에요. 하나 둘 셋!  셋! 하는 순간 레아는 엄마한테 안긴다.  엄마, 아직 졸려요. 나도 졸려요. 괜찮아요. 레아를 번쩍 안아 들고 변기에 앉힌다. 꽤 무거워진 레아를 언제까지 이렇게 깨울 수 있을지는 모르겠지만 지아가 일어나기 힘들어하던 어린 시절, 건장한 남동생을 시켜서라도 지아를 화장실로 데려다 놓던 어린 시절을 떠올리며 최선을 다해본다. 레아를 세면대 옆에 앉혀 놓고 아직 졸고 있는 얼굴을 씻긴다. 치카치카 양치도 시킨다. 잘 잤어요? 네. 좋은 꿈 꿨어요? 네. 무한반복을 통해 레아가 아는 몇 개의 한국어 단어들 중 일부이다. -오늘 아침에는 뭐 먹고 싶어요? 팬케이크 please. 스쿨버스가 올 때까지 15분 정도 밖에 남지 않았지만 열심히 아침 준비를 한다. 레아는 사과 한쪽, 레몬을 짜 넣은 레몬에이드, 꿀을 곁들인 플레인 요거트, 그리고… 팬케이크를 열심히 만든다. 팬케이크를 만드는 동안 사과와 요거트를 먼저 먹고 있으라고, 버스가 곧 올거라고 하는데 꼬무작 거리며, I’ll be right back 하며 거실 소파에 눕는다. 드디어 준비된 팬케이크를 잘라주고 메이플시럽과 휘핑크림까지 준비해주었는데 레아가 한 입을 먹기 시작한 순간 버스가 도착했다. 버스왔다!! 목소리 큰 레아의 친할머니가 소리치자 레아는 울기 시작한다.  학교 가기 싫어. 나중에 갈래! 맛있는 음식을 눈 앞에 두고 한 술 떴는데 그 자리를 떠나야 할 때 누가 그리 기쁘겠는가. 나 인형 하나 가져갈꺼야.  벌써 이구아나 인형이 책가방에 있어. 다른거 가져갈거야. “레아!“ 결국 내가 묵직한 소리로 레아를 꾸중해야 했다. 버스가 집 앞에서 기다리는 동안의 전쟁과 부담감을 덜기 위해 아침에 30분만 더 일찍 일어나야겠다고 자주 다짐하지만 ‘세 살 버릇 여든간다’. 그래도 내일은 일찍 일어나야지. 오늘 밤에는 메끌리진을 복용하지 말하야지. 레아는 준비만 되면 학교 가기 좋아하는 아이인데 말이다.  ‘엄마가 미안해 레아’ 지아는 생각했다.  "Adventures in Adventureland" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ "Moonlight Beach" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

지아 와 레아의 모험 안녕하세요  ‘지아와 레아의 모험’에 오신 여러분을 환영합니다.  본 채널에서는 올 해 마흔 두살이 된 지아와 5살배기 딸 레아의 일상생활을 일기형식으로 풀어냅니다. 짤막하고 따뜻한 이야기로, 때로는 힘든 일이 있을 때도 여러분과 일상생활을 공유하려고 합니다. 실제의 일상과 약간의 허구가 섞여 있을 수 있음을 미리 알려드리며 본 채널의 목적은 사람사는 이야기를 여러분과 공유함으로써 공감대를 형성하고 피드백을 나누며 되도록 일상생활에 자주 쓰이는 표현들을 사용하여 한국어를 배우고 연습하고자 하는 분들께 도움이 되는 구성으로 진행할 예정입니다. ㅣㅣ 3분 이내의 짤막한 에피소드로 여러분을 찾아 뵐 예정이고 스크립트가 함께 제공됩니다. 일단 등장인물을 소개합니다. 지아는 올 해 마흔 두살, 한국에서 태어나고 자랐으며 어렸을 때부터 다양한 해외경험과 개인적 관심사로 인해 적어도 6개국어에 능통합니다. 주로 한국을 근거지로 하고 유럽이나 아프리카를 무대로 일하거나 여행하다가 여행중 만난 미국인과 결혼하게 되어 계획에 없었던 뉴욕으로의 이주를 진행하게 되었습니다. 지아의 남편은 열심히 일하고 무뚝뚝한 성격이며 정서적이나 감정적이라기 보다 매우 논리적 이성적이며 여행과 예술을 즐기는 지아와는 취향이 잘 맞지 않습니다. 그래서 지아는 레아가 태어났을 때 장차 단짝으로 자라날 딸에 대한 기대가 컸고 드디어 레아와의 여행이 조금씩 수월해지고 있습니다. 지아는 다개국어를 구사할 뿐 아니라 여러가지 악기 (피아노, 플룻, 첼로, 바이올린 등)를 연주하고 여행을 즐기며 어려운 사람들을 돕고자 하는 따뜻한 마음씨를 가지고 있습니다. 레아는 엄마를 똑 닮은 사랑스러운 딸로 한국어, 영어를 구사하며 엄마를 따라 프랑스어, 스페인어, 독일어 등 다른 언어에도 관심을 보입니다. 아기상어, 페파 피그와 티제이 맥스를 겨쳐 디즈니 공주를 조금 좋아하듯 하더니 이제 1년전 부터 빠져든 공룡의 세계와 우주의 행성에서 아직 헤어나오지 못하고 있습니다. 최근에는 넘버블럭을 즐기며 수학에 관심을 보입니다. 한창 언어가 발달하는 두 세살 시기에 언어지연이 일어나 조금 우려했지만 네 살쯤 부터는 말이 확 터져서 쉬지 않고 말하는 귀염둥이 입니다. 자폐스펙트럼 진단이 있는 레아는 겉보기에 크게 티가 안나고 또래 아이들보다 오히려 똑똑하지만 가끔 엉뚱한 소리도 하고 자기만의 세계가 있습니다. 목소리가 엄청크고 흥이 넘치는 레아는 혼자서도 매우 잘 놀고 최근에는 다른 사람들과 노는 걸 즐기기 시작했습니다.  타미는 지아의 남편으로 미국사람이고 자수성가형으로 강인하지만 마음은 따뜻한 사람입니다. 어릴적 아버지를 여의고 어머니는 계시지만 스스로의 힘으로 삶을 헤쳐나간 스타일입니다. 지아의 가정처럼 정서적으로 안정되거나 문화적 풍요로움을 느끼고 자라지는 못해서 지아와 잘 맞지 않는 부분이 있어 서로 힘들어합니다. 그러나 뭐든지 잘 고치는 핸디맨이고 워낙 샤프하고 지혜로운 부분이 있어서 나름대로의 매력이 있는 캐릭터입니다. 지아와 레아의 모험! 기대해주세요!
