Turns out I was so annoyed with Uncle Press and his secrecy in the second book, I didn't even give the song that best fits the book. Cloral is a land of water and unforeseen consequence as Bobby attempts to follow in the footsteps of his uncle with few tips on how to best be the Traveler that the territories will eventually. But it's a part of the plan, apparently, not that I'm convinced. Bobby's doing what he can; better than what I could say for myself. See why Press would be tired of me in today's episode, LOL!  BYYEEE!!!!
Bobby Pendragon discovers he's a "traveler" and embarks on a journey upholding the balance of Halla as Saint Dane, our primary antagonist, seeks to upend that balance. But amongst the conversation of imperialism, colonialism, and enslavement lies a truth about complicity in systems that maintain the status quo and not always preparing the next generation to handle such immense responsibilities when concerning the fate of others' lives. Enjoy the commentary and keep a watch out for Saturday's episode on Mashama Bailey's "Black, White, and The Grey". BYYEEE!!!!
Shane and Ilya are in the throes of their relationship and it's disgusting! Love-dovey kisses, heart-wrenching proclamations, declarations of passions? Check, check, check! Ignore my jealousy; it isn't all guns and roses. Relationships take work and we must decide how we are going to move into the next stages of life and commitment. Shane and Ilya are exclusive, Ilya's going through major changes, and Shane's finding happiness in his career while maintaining the secrecy of their relationship that Ilya is changing his opinion on. He wants Shane now, and he doesn't really care about what everybody else has to say. On top of growing mental health concerns and fears about the future, will honesty change everything? Or will it bring him and Shane closer than ever. Find out in today's episode! BYYEEE!!!!
Troy is having issues confronting the recent loss of his ex-boyfriend, ex-teammates, and ex-best friend in the span of a week. Throw in a trade to what is considered one of the worst teams in the Hockey League, there isn't much in the world that could distract him from what feels to be the worst time of his life except for the cute redhead with a smile and cheerful disposition that’s hard to ignore. Enjoy another episode in the series asking us whose love matters most and what’s worth standing up for. BYYEEE!!!!
Apparently, your 30s are the new 20s and when you hit 40, you're basically dead. I hope my knees make it out of this transition okay, maybe even better than Eric Bennet, a 41-year old soon-to-be retiree, and Kyle Swift, a 25- year old grad student, who end up falling in love with each other. If only mutual interests in just about everything else made the characters realize how good they are for each other, the book wouldn't be as long. But then I wouldn't have a podcast anymore. Don't read that part anymore! Enjoy tonight's episode! BYYEEE!!!!
With this third installment of the "Game Changer" series, the Toronto Guardians' defenseman, Ryan Price, carries the weight of conflict externally on the ice, and internally in his heart, as he questions whether hockey's truly meant for him. Pair that with a recent anxiety diagnosis, an unfurnished apartment, and 12 year-old crush that reignites after walking into a drugstore, Ryan has a lot of decisions to make. Some things change, others stay the same, and we have to ask ourselves whether the sacrifices asked of us sometimes is worth it all. Enjoy today's episode, especially if you are at your own crossroad in life. BYYEEE!!!!
Who knew love could be so healing in a world that seeks to define and restrict its access to those it considers delinquent? Being gay, or queer, shouldn't be sentencing for isolation and abstinence; a culling of the mind and body for what is possible for us all, if that is what we desire. Shane and Ilya are in love, with the sport that has defined their drive and passion to live a life constituted of fulfillment and acknowledgment of that which matters most, what we want in life and how dedicated we are to seeing it come to life. So why shouldn't they be able to love each other? Enjoy today's episode with open ears and heart longing for understanding and recognition. BYYEEE!!!!
In what I lovingly describe as Challengers if Art and Patrick actually ended up in a relationship, both surprisingly come psychosexual drama, complicated feelings about championship prizes, and an impact that leaves me considering the nature of humanity and its fixation on romance. Love and desire are wonderful things, if you so happen to choose it for the better. Enjoy the episode and don't forget to tune in this Wednesday for our second book of the series, Heated Rivalry! BYYEEE!!!!
Who knew I needed the love story between two great men to instill a greater love for life and the many ways it can surprise and teach and remind us that romance for life brings love and enjoyment to us. Hopefully you'll like the story of Silas and Dino, love the name, as much as I do! Happy New Year! Enjoy the episode! BYYEEE!!!!
On this Christmas Eve, a little boy and girl are visited by their creepy Godfather with a gift like no other. Turns out Christmas stories made in the 1800s had to include some creep factor lest it not be published. And a fantastical twist or two, vain princesses, and a Nutcracker with some cracked teeth set to eventually kill a seven-headed Mouse King, and this story gives you just about everything you're looking for this holiday. Enjoy this classic story and don't forget to watch over your dolls. We should all remember Little Soldiers. BYYEEE!!!!
While I may not be happy that young girls are referred to as "little women", there is something unavoidable about it all. That girls live as future women, and the learning comes daily in life, blurring the line between the present time and a future obligation. Sobering and delightfully written, enjoy this week's episode of The Novel Ideas Podcast. You won't regret it! BYYEEE!!!!
Has your Dad ever manipulated the Joy market to ensure the longevity and reach of Christmas? Shouldn't surprise you that Kris and Coal's Dad, Santa is heavily invested in such a thing. Tough enough to have your Mom leave you and your brother behind, or later in life have your Dad force you into an arranged marriage with best friend to gain a cut of Easter's Joy shares; now this? Join in on a discussion of writing, overconsumption, and the thing that matters most this holiday, sex. Enjoy this week's episode! BYYEEE!!!!
Happy Holidays! It's officially the start of the winter season, and what better way to start then with the lessons of cutting off your hair and selling your gold watch for your partner's gift? Buying traffic so your son can HOPEFULLY profess his love to his girlfriend? Shooting a kind stranger's possibly threatening neighbor who has a bad reputation? "The Gift of the Magi" offers interesting stories about the weight of decisions aiding others, and the consequences that come from such decisions. I hope you enjoy tonight's episode as much as I did! BYYEEE!!!!
Imagine you're in an age of cybernetics and cloning, and debt collectors are still hounding you about a measly two-million dollars you still? I can replace my body parts but I'm still beholden to a bank? Who knew a capitalist system would follow holographics and corporate-owned sports teams? The future sounds lovely, doesn't? Enjoy this episode through the eyes of Kobo and a future that whiffs of our present on the horizon in the worst, or most human, way. Your pick. BYYEEE!!!!
In a modern world of ultraviolence, is it any wonder our fictional rumination of the future is contextualized by a world inundated with it? A 15-year old boy remarkably steeped and well-versed in its utility for pleasure, just as the State weaponizes it for their own means, the lines blurring amidst warranted scrutiny in Alex and the government own machinations that further the cycle of pain. Do humans deserve the ability to choose when observing such baseless violence or gluttonous pleasure and its effect on others? Sometimes I wonder whether we should, even though nothing will stop us from having the ability to decide for ourselves. I hope you enjoy tonight's episode! BYYEEE!!!!
In a world where everyone presumes to know everything, reading a book about the implications of ignorance as an opportunity to understand reevaluates the paradigm we operate from, and encourages a new point of view if we are to imagine, or more appropriately surmise a new way of seeing the world to survive in the process. Enjoy the newest episode and I hope you have a wonderful day! BYYEEE!!!!
How do you navigate the cosmos in perpetuity? If you answered with the legacies of Antebellum South and chattel slavery in a futuristic, generation ship held up by a stratified caste-system, I would've thought you'd already read the book. Follow Aster and their relationships as they navigate secrecy, truth-seeking, and the cruelties of a system built against them. Hope your enjoy tonight's episode! BYYEEE!!!!
Through my sleepy stupor, deep reflections are found underneath the "monstrous" visage of the creation forced to life. Victor Frankenstein is a tragic figure befalling consequences of his own hubris reflected back by a more tragic figure of his own creation. It's a story for all looking for the mirror to humanity's soul. Let's just say we aren't as good as we'd like to imagine. Enjoy tonight's episode! BYYEEE!!!!
A riveting tale explores the horrors of history and personal decisions that ignore tradition, four friends' relationship to a moment of selfishness has lasting consequences for all involved or attached. Well-written, captivating, and somewhat perplexing at times, enjoy tonight's episode whenever you happen listen! BYYEEE!!!!
The legacy of America enshrouds the crimes and traumas present within the survivors of slavery. Its history soaks the land and raises the dead; no wonder Toni Morrison felt it necessary to utilize the horror genre to elicit the masked tragedies of those still living and dead in Sethe and Denver's experience in their haunted home. With much to discuss and reflect in memory, enjoy tonight's episode! BYYEEE!!!!
