This week, I’m joined by poet and author Nikita Gill, whose powerful writing has helped millions find hope through heartbreak and uncertainty. We explore how language and storytelling can transform pain, how to let go of harmful societal fairytales, and why unlearning shame about our emotions is the first step toward healing. Nikita shares her journey through trauma and self-doubt, from growing up amid conflict to fighting feelings of loneliness and depression. We discuss finding strength in community, redefining our self-image, and embracing the messy, wild parts of ourselves. Nikita’s inspiring ideas on resilience, empathy, and rebuilding out of ruins offer comfort and clarity for anyone feeling lost or overwhelmed. If you need reassurance, a dose of hope, or simply a reminder of your own power, this episode is for you.

Nikita's book, Hekate, a retelling in verse of the life of a child of war turned all-powerful goddess of witchcraft, necromancy and crossroads, is available to buy now.

This episode, Ellen Atlanta returns to reveal her three essentials: joyful Zumba classes at her local leisure centre, the comfort of home and relationships, and the simple pleasure of sweets and cheese. Together, we talk about why movement should be about feeling good, not punishment; how community brings genuine connection; and why a balanced approach to self-care matters more than“perfect” wellness routines. From building intergenerational friendships to embracing life at home (and on the sofa), Ellen shares honest insights on redefining wellbeing according to what brings true happiness, not just what looks good online. If you’ve ever questioned gym culture, wanted to find more joy in movement, or yearned for self-acceptance, this episode is for you.

This week, I’m joined by author and beauty culture commentator Ellen
Atlanta to explore how tweakments, filters and social media are reshaping
not just our faces – but the way we see ourselves. From the rise of fillers in
the UK to the constant pressures of online “perfection,” Ellen shares powerful insights from her book and from conversations with young women growing up in the middle of it all. Together, we talk about what it means to navigate beauty in the digital age, how social media has shifted our ideas of confidence and self-image, and why these treatments and filters have become such a big part of the conversation. If you’ve ever questioned your reflection, wondered how the online world is shaping your self-esteem, or simply wanted to better understand today’s beauty culture, this episode will give you fresh perspectives on acceptance, confidence, and defining beauty on your own terms.

We're back! To kick off series 2, I’m joined by the one and only Miriam Margolyes - actor, national treasure, and unapologetic truth-teller. Beloved for her outrageous honesty and infectious humour, Miriam has spent decades stealing scenes on screen and stealing hearts off it. We get into what makes her speak without filters, why shame is a word she never entertains, and how she stays completely, authentically herself. There are conversations about sex, aging, Jewish identity, and exactly why she refuses to hold back even when others might wish she would. Miriam also shares stories that will make you laugh, wince, and maybe even blush - reminding us all that life is richer when lived with courage, mischief, and a healthy disregard for other people’s rules. This is a raw, outrageous, and utterly joyful conversation that will leave you feeling braver, lighter, and inspired to stop apologising for being exactly who you are.

If you have ever looked in the mirror and immediately apologised for the body staring back at you, then today’s episode is exactly what you need.
This week, Bryony is joined by the radiant Jules Von Hep: spray tanner to the stars, founder of the cult beauty brand Isle of Paradise, and author of The Confidence Ritual. With two decades spent in a world that likes to airbrush out every blemish and dimple, Jules knows a thing or two about the myths the beauty industry sells us and the reality of how every single body has its own insecurities.
They talk all about the conditioning that teaches us to hate our bodies, the tricks companies use to profit from our insecurities, and—most importantly—how to start unlearning all of it.
Brimming with charm and heartfelt honesty, Jules shares his own journey from deep self-loathing to loving life, and the practical confidence rituals that can help you glow up from the inside out.
Whether you’re a bronzing pro or a self-tan novice, this episode has a whole lot of gold for you. Jules Von Hep’s book, The Confidence Ritual, is out now. Get ready to glow up, from the inside out.

What if the moment your baby arrives, the only thing you feel is... nothing?
This week, I’m joined by author Sarah Hoover, whose raw and honest book, 'The Motherload,' has become essential reading for anyone who’s struggled with the ups and downs of early motherhood.
We explore what happens when your mental health collapses, but you still look 'fine,' why therapy was such a lifeline, and how Sarah finally started to feel like herself again.
If you enjoyed this episode, please share it with someone who needs to hear Sarah’s honesty. It really makes a difference.

MY GUESTS THIS WEEK: HELEN THORNE & EMMA CAMPBELL
This week, I’m joined by two of my brilliant friends – Helen Thorne and Emma Campbell – to talk honestly about running. But not in the elite-athlete, £200-leggings, nutrition-plan kind of way. This is about resentment runs, running in your pants, and crying in the middle of a 10K.
Helen – one half of comedy duo Scummy Mummies – only started running at 39. She’s now completed nine marathons and all six of the world’s major races. Emma is a writer, a mother of four (including teenage triplets), and a secondary cancer patient who discovered running in the middle of chemotherapy.
Together, we talk about why running feels so hard to start, how it can help you heal, and the joy of doing it imperfectly. We cover everything from chafing solutions to playlist rituals to learning how not to give a toss about what you look like in lycra.
Whether you’re already a runner or the idea of jogging makes you break out in a rash, this episode is a celebration of movement on your own terms – and of the strange magic that happens when you put one foot in front of the other.

MY GUEST THIS WEEK: ABIGAIL DEAN
This week, I’m joined by Abigail Dean—bestselling author of Girl A, Day One, and now The Death of Us, a gripping psychological thriller that explores trauma, trust and romantic fear. But this conversation goes far beyond fiction. Abigail opens up about her teenage battle with anorexia and her time in the Priory.
We talk about the long road to recovery, the decision to leave a high-flying legal career at Google, and how motherhood helped her finally make space to write. We also explore what it means to live with the threat of relapse, the emotional weight of writing dark stories, and the power of teenage friendship to save a life.
If you’ve ever wondered how to rewrite your own story—or if it’s too late to do so—Abigail’s honesty and insight might be the answer you’re looking for.

MY GUESTS THIS WEEK: BEN JAMES & SARAH WIECZOREK
April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, and I’m joined by Ben James and Sarah Wieczorek—siblings of the late, great Dame Deborah James.
Deborah, also known as Bowelbabe, broke taboos, inspired millions, and changed how we talk about cancer—one brutally honest Instagram post (and poo emoji outfit) at a time. Since her death, Ben and Sarah have kept her legacy alive through the Bowelbabe Fund and are now training for the London Marathon in her honour.
We talk about why so many of us still feel too embarrassed to talk about poo, how early detection of bowel cancer can save lives, and the bittersweet joy of remembering someone you love and miss every single day.
Together we celebrate Debs, whose motto was clear: live life, loudly.

Money—it’s something we all have to deal with, yet so many of us feel ashamed, overwhelmed, or anxious about it. Whether it’s debt, emotional spending, or the way we tie our self-worth to financial success, these struggles can have a profound effect on our mental health.
This week, I’m joined by Clare Seal, finance writer, speaker, and author, who became a leading voice in financial well-being after launching her Instagram account My Frugal Year, where she shared her journey out of £27,000 worth of personal debt.
Together, we discuss:
💰 Why money remains one of our biggest taboos.
😨 How financial stress impacts mental health—and vice versa.
🛍️ Emotional spending, the ‘ADHD tax,’ and why many of us sabotage ourselves financially.
🔄 How to break out of shame cycles and build a healthier relationship with money.
Whether you’ve ever felt out of control with money or just want confidence around finances, this episode is for you.

Welcome to The Life of YOU!
The bonus series where we tackle your dilemmas and share advice to navigate life’s trickier moments.
This week, I’m joined by Kate Silverton—broadcaster, child therapist, and bestselling author of There’s No Such Thing As ‘Naughty’. Drawing from years of research and real-life parenting experience, Kate helps us understand children’s emotions, why tantrums aren’t ‘bad behaviour’, and how we can build stronger connections with our kids.
Together, we answer your questions about emotional resilience, big feelings, and how to parent with confidence—even in the toughest moments.
Today:
💬 Shannon struggles to stay calm when her toddler has a meltdown—how can parents stop their child’s emotions from triggering their own?
💭 David’s 8-year-old shuts down when he’s upset—how can he encourage his child to open up without pushing too hard?
🤯 Emma asks why her 5-year-old has explosive reactions over small things—what’s the best way to help children manage frustration?

MY GUEST THIS WEEK: KATE SILVERTON
This week, I’m joined by Kate Silverton—journalist, broadcaster, and child therapist—who left the BBC newsroom to pursue her passion for children’s mental health. Now a qualified child counsellor, Kate is on a mission to help parents better understand their children’s emotional worlds.
We talk about why there’s no such thing as a “naughty” child, how emotional regulation is the greatest gift we can give our kids, and why the perfect parent doesn’t exist (and never should). Kate explains how our brains are wired for connection, why our kids’ behaviour is often misunderstood, and how we can stop parenting from a place of guilt and shame.
Kate also shares her fascinating analogy of the brain as a wise owl, a baboon, and a lizard, helping us see why children struggle with emotions and how we can lend them our own calm when they need it most.
We explore why guilt can actually be useful, how parents can feel less overwhelmed, and why firm but fun is the best parenting approach of all.
If you’ve ever worried about getting it wrong as a parent (or felt totally out of your depth), this episode will leave you feeling empowered, reassured, and maybe even a little less guilty.
