Holy Post Media is no stranger to accusations of both-sidesism. Skye and Kaitlyn talk about why they believe pointing out problems on both sides isn’t simple equivocation or conflict-avoidance, but instead a responsibility—and maybe even a way to avoid idolatry. 0:04 - Theme Song 1:18 - Defining Both-Sidesism 8:22 - Is it false equivalency? 13:15 - Are we just placating conservatives? 24:47 - Get the full episode by signing up for Holy Post Plus: https://www.patreon.com/posts/139216097/

But there’s other stuff on their minds—midlife faith crises, declining grades in plublic schools, and—“Jesus glow-ups” on Tiktok? Skye and Drew look at all of this news and try to make sense of it all. Get the full episode by signing up for Holy Post Plus: https://www.patreon.com/posts/138694494/

David French and Skye Jethani discuss whether it’s really a principled stand for traditional Christian values, or a target of opportunity for online trolls. In this highly theological edition of The SkyePod, Skye answers questions about free will, Heaven, and hearing the voice of God. What red flags should we look for to see if we are hearing the Holy Spirit or just ourselves? Will we have free will in Heaven? And why would Skye choose the Star Wars prequel trilogy over the Star Wars sequel trilogy? Questions covered: If you had to watch one Star Wars trilogy that's not the OT, would you watch the prequel trilogy or the sequel trilogy? There has been a lot of talk lately in Christian circles about how doubts are fine. That God can handle our doubts and questions and that doubts and questions ultimately grow our faith. This is a nice change from the history of shaming doubt in the church. However, I struggle with passages in the gospels where it appears that Jesus rebukes people for not having enough faith. How do you reconcile these rebukes with the idea that God can handle our doubts and questions? How do you read all the books you discuss in your interviews? Do you take speed reading classes, have a system to skim through them, or have people who read and summarize them for you? I've always been a reader, and I can read faster than the average person, but there's no way I could talk about all the books you discuss. How do you do that? I have a friend who in the last few years started reading early church fathers (ie.Augustine, Aquinas, Ignatius). After being raised in a good Christian family his entire life, he now believes the only way to follow God is to convert to Roman Catholicism. Can you help me understand this leap? If the ability to sin is what makes obedience valuable (we are not robots who have to obey), why doesn't that follow through to heaven/new earth? If there is no sin there, does the inability to sin cheapen our obedience/love? Or will we have the ability, but won't choose it? Does competition that comes from sports belong in New Creation? How do you know whether the voice in your head is the Holy Spirit or your own mind? This episode is available only for Holy Post Plus subscribers. Not a subscriber? A tragic political assassination in Minnesota has raised new alarms about the radicalization happening inside certain corners of American Christianity. David French and Skye Jethani discuss the rise of spiritual warfare language within independent Pentecostal and charismatic movements, and how this language is spilling over into mainstream evangelicalism. Then, they turn to a major Supreme Court case that could reshape how pornography is accessed online. Should adults be required to verify their identity to view explicit content and does the state have a responsibility to protect children from online harm? 0:00 - Theme Song 1:42 - The Problem of the Christian Assassin 19:22 - Why So Much Warfare Imagery? 35:42 - Trump and Prophecy 49:20 - Digital Porn Laws in Texas 1:01:20 - End Credits Lifeway Report on Christians Believing Heresy: https://www.christianitytoday.com/2018/10/what-do-christians-believe-ligonier-state-theology-heresy/
Paul Putz from Baylor University is here to explain to Skye about how sports, football especially, has become so associated with Christianity in America. He traces the history from the early 1900’s, how it tied into the social gospel, racism, liberal Protestantism—and how it’s evolved to what we see today. And what’s a “Middlebrow Protestant?” Get the full episode by signing up for Holy Post Plus: https://www.patreon.com/posts/131693525/

Since taking office in January, Trump's net worth has increased by nearly $3 billion thanks to his family-branded cryptocurrencies being purchased by foreign governments and businesses. He accepted a Boeing 747 as a "gift" from the government of Qatar, and has issued pardons to people who paid $1 million to attend a fundraiser dinner. David French explains why the Constitution's prohibition against foreign gifts is being ignored, and why Trump's shameless corruption has been met with silence by journalists and politicians. French and Skye Jethani also discuss why Trump's evangelical supporters don't care about his corruption, and how celebrity pastors and the Prosperity Gospel prepared them to accept the President's behavior as acceptable. Then, they discuss the case before the Supreme Court seeking to allow religious charter schools to receive public funding. French and Jethani examine the pros and cons of school choice and why Christians may want to reconsider accepting tax dollars for religious education. 0:00 - Theme Song 3:20 - Trump’s New Plane 11:00 - Trump’s Shamelessness 20:00 - Personal Corruption 34:20 - Are Charter Schools Public Schools? 54:08 - Public Schools as an Equalizer 1:05:40 - End Credits Follow along with the writing of The World Born in You by Skye Jethani by signing up for Holy Post Plus and use code BOOK for 20% off: https://www.patreon.com/c/holypost The Trump Presidency’s World-Historical Heist by David Frum: https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2025/05/trump-golden-age-corruption/682935/

Please be very careful when victim blaming. Most victims in evangelical circles are not heard nor are they believed. Plenty of antidote evidence of this. Plus personal experience.
